New Pricing Game Review: SHOWER GAME

New Pricing Game Review: SHOWER GAME

Man, what a massive set!!!

Anyways, this game is nothing more than, you guessed it, Quintuple Prices. Only difference is that you MIGHT get a second chance. Don't know how, exactly. It just seemed very random as to which of the remaining stalls had the confetti or the $100 bills.

Speaking of confetti, this was the only reason I remember seeing this game when I was four years old. You just don't forget a sight of confetti being poured on the head of a PiR contestant. Too weird!

All I can say abou the set was that it was green, weird and MASSIVE!!! Easily the largest pricing game set in history!

A very weird game indeed!

Rating: 5 out of 10

I will agree that the set was gigantic!  It had bubbles around the title and the green tiles and stalls were amazing.

The gameplay was simple enough-just pick the stall you think has the right price, and pull the lever to see if you win the car, $100, or get showered with confetti and try again.

It's a very interesting game.

Overall, it was a different kind of game.  I give it a 6 out of 10.

Gameplay: 4
The gameplay was straight-forward and very unique, but it reminded me of The Holocaust.

Set Design: 8
The game had a HUGE set that reminded me of the locker room showers at my old junior high school.

Viability: 0
Jewish-Americans would certainly NOT want to see this one back in the rotation. Even though I am not Jewish, I will let their opinions be heard in this country.

Fun Factor: 5
It wasn't the most exciting game around back in the day, but it was very interesting.

Intangables: 8
Noteworthy as the game with the largest set ever, and the only game that was retired because of negative feedback from viewers.

Overall: 25 out of 40.

This was an interesting game.  The only thing I would have changed was that the wrong choices for the price of the car have to do with whether you get confettied or get $100 instead of just being randomly placed.  I can see why the Halocaust comparison comes up but I think even if that didn't happen the game would have been doomed anyway because it seemed like a pretty lengthy game and it's huge set had to have been at least somewhat hard to store and maintain.  The set though was nice although I hope it would have been updated eventually if it stayed.  Overall, not a bad game, but it did have some things going against it.

My score- 6.5 out of 10

I actually seem to like this game.  The huge set looked really cool, and you have to guess the price of the car.  Seems like another version of 5 Price Tags, except you get a consolation prize ($100) if you eventually don't get the price right.  8/10

The idea behind it was good.  I also liked the massive set.  However, the whole shower thing just doesn't sit well with me, and I'm not Jewish.  I believe that it could work better as a turntable game with six boxes, three of which have a slip that says "Try Again," two having $100 (more if they so choose), and the other containing a key (not necessarily to the car).

SCORE: 6.75 of 10.

This was a below average game with a monstrous set, my goodness! An okay concept, just choose the stall that you think has the price of the car on top of it. Either a key, confetti, or $100 would come out. If you picked a stall with confetti, you got an extra chance. Finding $100 or the key ended the game.

Really nothing else to say about this game, but wow, what a big game!

There's not much to say for myself concerning this game-monstrous set and ridiculous concept=walk in a stall pull the lever and either get a key, confetti, or $100? Yes, the car price came into play but..something just bugs me about that.

4 out of 10.
(mostly for the huge set).

Shower Game is, without a question, the most controversial game in the history of The Price is Right.  The premise:  you had five shower stalls, one had the keys to a car, two of them had $100, and two of them had confetti.  If the contestant got sprayed with confetti, they just kept going until he/she won $100 or the car.  The set for this game was JUST PLAIN HUGE!

This game would've been much more viable with a turntable setup.

My Grade:  3.0/4.0 (gets a point deducted for viability)

I am Jewish, but to me the Shower Game didn't seem to be a problem for me. Too bad i was alive for the game. I so would've loved the game

i have only seen the shower game maybe 3 or 4 times when it was played.  i thought gameplay was very unusual and hoped it would of been retooled for maybe a plinko type game, where as the player has to earn several picks in addition to one free pick, no more than three.  as for the set design, i could see this game as either a stage game, similar to what it was, but smaller and more open, or as a "behind the big doors" type game.  there was a good gameplay there, but the setup must be changed, as not to offend anyone.
all of this can be yours, if you can afford it.

Is it just me, or does anyone feel like Pass the Buck is a modern version of this game (with a Bankrupt thrown in for good measure)?

8 out of 10 because it looks cool!

I think if they made the stalls sleeker and more colorful, the game might still be around today.

Here's how I would tweak this: Have just one stall with six knobs, each for one price. Small enough for the turntable, and probably not offensive. The head would be able to shoot confetti or bills. Anyway, a question: I've read conflicting accounts as to how the prices were related. Some sources say it's random, but others say that the two closest to the ARP were loaded with money. Is there a consensus?
