PaP isn't exactly a 2P compatible game.

I should've explained that one a bit more. Not so much as a two-player compatible game, but you've got a couple playing Pick-a-Pair.

CBS posted a video shot during a stopdown Nancy proposed to Ian (yeah, you read that right). Drew has a pretty good joke at the end... lol

Interestingly enough, Drew says NANCY won the 'vette (and the $10,000), not Ian. I'm guessing the way the show was set up, only one of the contestants actually "won" the prizes, even though legally speaking, they could both win and own the prizes "indivision", even as an unmarried couple.

Again, they should have done it during taping... ;)
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

Maybe she wanted to spare him the embarassment of the woman proposing to the guy. That was by far the oddest proposal I've ever seen in my life. I wonder if that was a spur-of-the-moment thought from her because of the situation and excitement.

Hmm, I suppose that's plausible. But it came too late - right after the 10k is the time to do it! ;)

Well...this didn't suck.

LET 'EM ROLL: Now THAT'S how you start the day!

FREEZE FRAME: Honestly...that was painful.

SWAP MEET: Fingers, when's the last time...? Brandi, may you have much success with your child!

SHOWCASE SHOWDOWN #1: Sometimes, the Wheel slows down enough that you KNOW you'll win some bonus cash.
============================================
LUCKY PAIR $EVEN: ...Yeah, that was bad. Seriously.

PUNCH-A-BUNCH: Painful. And incredibly so. Minimum should be $250 - no punch should award you the "Screw You" Prize that is $50.

DOUBLE PRICES: Yep, there's a win.
============================================
SHOWCASES: Hm. Showcase #1 looked to be a Dennis James-caliber one the way it just kept going. Showcase #2...a bit less interesting.

RULING: Three losses and a STUPID joke in IUFB #6...but three wins, $11,000 on the Wheel, and a Showcase win - not to mention the whole "Couples" thing (and a 1975 CORVETTE!)... 7/10 (B-)

Wow, this show was actually great!  I liked how the set was all decorated for Valentine's Day.  I think that's a record for the most people ever in Contestant's Row...nine during the 5th one-bid. :-o

One thing that I wish could've been done was to make the lineup seem more couple-oriented.  When I first had heard of them making a Valentine's Day show, I created a lineup revolving around couples: 1/2 Off, Temptation, One Right Price, Side by Side, 2 for the Price of 1 (car), and Pick-a-Pair.  At least swapping Punch-a-Bunch for 1/2 Off would've made me a bit happier.

The good thing about the lineup, though: We got to see Swap Meet!  That was a rare treat.

That was so awesome to see Rich on the TV during the 3rd one-bid instead of Drew.  Kind of a throwback to the 90s when Rod used to be on TV describing the prizes.

I sure thought we'd get a big amount ($5K+) in the corner today.  Instead, we got a measly $50.

That 1975 Corvette looked freakin sweet! :-D

Pros:
  • Drew is right - that '75 Chevy Corvette Stingray was quite possibly the coolest prize the show has offered... ever. Anybody know if the show offered one back in 1975?

I'm so glad you asked.  Setting the WABAC Machine to Sept. 2, 1975, I want you to listen over my left shoulder...

SWAP MEET!!! :):):)

Okay, now that that's out of the way...this worked decently.  They didn't really change anything beyond having two contestants at a time, and it played out just fine.  Still, there were some things they didn't do that really would have made sense on an episode like this, most notably playing either Switch? or 1 Right Price for two cars (and yes, I know they've both been played already this week...but hey, so was Double Prices).  Also, did they really need to force that Corvette into Let 'em Roll when there was no good reason not to drag out 3 Strikes?

I'd like to point out that disregarding schedule shuffling, this was the first playing of Swap Meet since Thanksgiving, and the first playing of any multiprizer besides Race Game since December 3.  I hope to hell this is a sign of things to come.

Speaking of Swap Meet, Drew didn't really explain it all that well.  Of course, if they'd play it once in a while (HINT, HINT), maybe he'd be able to get it down pat.

I loved how they showed Rich on the TV in the third IUFB.  It was a nice throwback to the Rod Roddy era.

It was very nice to see a cash game show up fifth.

Did anybody else start to think of fried chicken the sixteenth or so time Drew mentioned Rich's beard?

And call me soft, but I enjoyed seeing some of the couples kissing after they won their games.

Well, if the show still had time for 28.5-minute lineups, 3 Strikes would have fit in very nicely today.  But in the wake of the time cuts, a whole new lineup of games would have had to been done to accommodate 3 Strikes (Unless its timing has changed from 7 minutes in recent years or since the rule changes)...

Then make a new one.  It didn't stop Roger.

Come to think of it, all they needed to do was swap out Let em Roll and Punch a Bunch and put 3 Strikes and One Wrong Price in their spots and the lineup would have timed out to 26.5 minutes.  They even could have played Any Number, Pocket ¢hange, Card Game, and some others with that extra .5 instead of Lucky $even.

My take on this Price of Love:

Let 'em Roll: For a 1975 Corvette??? I was sort of expecting a 2009 Vette, but those two rolls were all they needed to win the car!

Freeze Frame: I knew they stopped one click too soon.

Swap Meet: Good to see this played again. And hooray on the win!

Lucky $even: What a heartbreaking loss!

Punch-a-Bunch: Ditto here.

Double Prices: Sweet way to end the show, with a win.

Showcase Showdown: $11,000 to a lucky couple makes the show all the more enjoyable!

Showcases: The couple who bid on the Audi Showcase was within DSW range. Too bad they went over, though.

Miscellaneous: Today's show was the first one I remember seeing with the new plasma screen behind the audience, and I think it's a welcome change from those distracting green screens from the first half of the season. And I was kind of shocked at seeing Rich with a goatee! That thing makes him look old. Another thing: Seems that lately, a lot of times we've seen them lower the Race Game Curtain behind Drew shortly after he makes his entrance. Well, that's my two cents, but I really enjoyed this show from start to finish. Now, I'm ready to see Bob...

Am I missing something, Teddy?  I thought they overbid on the Audi showcase by more than $3,000...
