New Pricing Game Review LET 'EM ROLL

New Pricing Game Review: LET 'EM ROLL

A.K.A. "The $500 Giveaway!"

That alone knocks three points off of my score. Nothing like a pricing game that guarantee that a contestant will win $500 no matter how badly they play it, huh? Should have made the final roll an "All or Nothing at All" roll: If they contestant chooses to roll, they must win the car on the last roll or take home nothing! If the contestant somehow blows the pricing game part completely, they must win the car on their ONE free roll or go home empty-handed! That would make the game more interesting, as this is a rather BORING game! Even when played for an expensive car (As in the Million Dollar Spectacular this game was played in) it's dull!

Yeah, I know the pricing game portion is supposed to be easy, but it's still not that much of a pricing game at all.

Kudos for the set improvement. It's much nicer and glitzier. Even more kudos for adding the bumper in front so the dice won't roll off the board.

Nice set aside, this game really doesn't have too much to offer...except a free $500!

Rating: 4 out of 10

Let 'Em Roll, as I mentioned in my review about Secret X, is just there. The set is cool, the grocery pricing portion is easy, and the contestant is guaranteed to win at least $500 just for rolling the dice-even if they blow the GP portion that is the amount they can walk away with. I neither loathe it or outright love it-sort of indifferent toward it.

Right off the heels of Any Number, we have its virtual opposite:  the game that's just so much more fun to watch once it got its set change!  Really, Let 'em Roll has a really nice set, with the nice little chute for the dice, the dice landing area, and the weird striped wall that the contestant stands behind.  All so glitzy and ooh and aah-y!  The set alone makes it more enjoyable than Pass the Buck, at least!

...even if the grocery pricing part of the game is worse than Pass the Buck's grocery pricing part.  Usually just so mindless.  It's nice, the occasional times when they actually make the products tricky, but it doesn't happen nearly often enough.  The higher or lower isn't really that exciting to start with, though.  The game is all about the dice rolling.  And quite honestly, it is fun.  Much moreso than Pass the Buck's "fun" part.  The set has a lot to do with it, but whether I like it or not, it's fun.

And the contestants... I can believe that there are contestants who have never seen Let 'em Roll played on The Price is Right.  I can't believe, however, that there are contestants who have never played Yahtzee before!  It shocks me to this day, to see contestants who want to roll the dice one at a time!  You could get an arm lopped off for trying that in Yahtzee!

7 out of 10 on the old scale.  The set for the game really adds to its value!

This game may be horrible because it relies on luck to get five cars.  But I think that it's exciting to see if the contestant get the necessary number of cars on the last roll.

The set is way cool compared to the previous set.  I like the lights and the huge chute for the cubes to roll down.

The GP portion is dull, because the setup is so easy.

Overall, an okay game with a great set.  I give it a 6 out of 10.

I like this game a tiny bit since the set change but otherwise it is just a boring game that is basically a car/money giveaway.  The only time the game is fun to watch is when it comes down to the final roll.  Otherwise every part of it is dull and the grocery portion is more often than not a cinch.  It's also way too luck based and random.  And $500 guarenteed just for rolling dice is a little much.  The set though is definitely pretty cool.  The original set was just bad.  The playing frequency is about right I guess.

My score- 6 out of 10

I admit that I enjoy this game, though I've never really thought about the fact that a contestant is guaranteed to win at least $500.  In any event, though the grocery portion is ridiculously easy (Pass the Buck's can be made difficult by putting similarly priced products together), the act of rolling the cubes down the ramp makes up for it.  Also, the game often has a climactic conclusion.  And let's remember that it is usually played for some inexpensive car like a Chevy Cobalt or a Ford Focus, thus making it somewhat tempting for someone to take the money, and the contestant gets what they pay for, so to speak (easy gameplay for a cheaper car).  Oh, the set is great!  Love the yellow and black.  Kind of like a giant bumblebee with a ramp.

If nothing else, it's better than Pass the Buck.  My score: 8 out of 10.

This game is better than Pass the Buck, but still not a favorite of mine. Get 5 cars on the dice to win within however many rolls you earned, or you earn however much money appears on however many dice you have on your final roll.

I don't like how the contestant is guaranteed a free roll, and $500. Maybe if the grocery portion was a true or false portion, and they had to earn all three rolls, then maybe it would get another point. Also, I think the money should be just there to bailout, because why should they deserve the money if they roll again and don't earn the car? It's a mistake on their part for not quitting. Plus, what if they earn 2 rolls, and roll 2 cars and $2500 on their first roll, then they roll again, but no cars show up, and they end up not winning the car, but getting $3500? They lose, but get more money. Get my point? But you also have the fact that the above situation could happen, and they might earn less money, so maybe it evens out.

The game has a nice set, a really nice set. Much better than the original. A great improvement. Dazzling.

Nothing else to say, except that I give it a point for being the only game (I think) to have a concept of guessing if the preceding product is higher or lower in price.

5 out of 10.

I have decided to scrap the "Campy Scale" and go with the format everyone else is using.

I don't think this is much of a pricing game, because the pricing portion of this game is TOO EASY! I don't like the idea of a free roll, because you can guess incorrectly on both of the grocery items and still win a car, which I heavily dislike. I don't like the new set, as it does not work well with a disabled contestant. I always have liked Yahtzee, so I think this game is very fun. Noteworthy as the only game to have a new set debut on a MDS.

I really like this game.  It's always suspenseful when they're rolling the dice, wondering if they're going to get 5 cars.  And plus, you're going to walk away with something no matter what.  That's always nice to hear, and it gives you a sort-of morale boost.  9/10

I initially liked this game, but I've since lost interest in it, because of the several flaws to the game.

Alfonzo mentioned the first one:  a free $500.  Money Game doesn't pour out that much free cash, much less guarantee it.  Second, the GP pricing portion is way too easy.  Thankfully, Plinko's SP pricing portion still has some challenge to it.  Here, they practically give the contestant the rolls, and they couldn't think of a better way to begin than just give the contestant the price of the first GP?

Thirdly, a few contestants, even with Bob's thorough explanation of the game, have bailed out when they really shouldn't have.  I remember one contestant bailed out with the cash, thinking she would have had to roll all five cubes again and not just the money ones.  Is the concept of this game that confusing?

And the major downfall of the whole game, there's no pricing strategy to winning the car.  Just roll the cubes and you'd better pray you get all five cars.  Not my cup of tea for any pricing game, and especially not for a car game.

Not to say this game hasn't had it's moments, or that it doesn't have anything to offer.  The set it very glitzy, and there has been a number of blunders with cubes rolling off the table, but the game itself is flawed and loses my liking for the game.

Thank you, now, if only Bully would just do that same...
I haven't actively watched the show for almost a year now... because the show is no longer fun for me to watch.

How anyone is still enjoying the show is beyond me.

I really do not like this game at all.  The GP part is simply too easy, the set bugs me a little (the colors, mainly), and I don't like the fact that you will always win something in the game.

Also, all the buildup towards the final roll (if there is one) seems a little cheesy for me.  Remember a few times when Bob said, "Think car!  CAR!  CAR!  CAR!"  Just not my thing.

I really don't like Let 'em Roll. It's biggest flaw is that there is pretty much no pricing involved, and it's pretty much all luck. Also, I don't like that a contestant can botch up the pricing part and still win at least $500. The one good thing about the game is the set. It's much better than the old one, but it's still an incredibly flawed game.

It gets a 2/10.

I also don't like this game.  Aside from the fact that the GP part is usually easy, I hate the fact you are always guranteed to win at least $500. And I hate how someone can botch the GP part and Still win a car.  It's also way too luck reliant and overplayed.  The set is very cool though.

I like Let 'em Roll, despite the brain-dead grocery pricing portion. The set is cool, and there's some suspense present on the last roll. (When I stumbled across my tape of the 12/24/01 show, I saw the cute little old set. I was shocked to see it so small, something I never noticed until now.) It's a fun game to watch, it's only grating when somebody tries to throw each cube down individually. And I get a funny feeling that someday, somebody's gonna throw the bucket down along with the cubes.

Let 'em Roll's OK with me. 6/10

I think Let 'Em Roll is a really fun game to play. Contrary to Alfonzo, I think the $500 giveaway is nice, preventing from a show to be a skunking. This game excites me, Bob says "Let 'Em Roll in an enthusiastic way. The second set is much of an improvement and builds tension. Like most of you said, the pricing is brain-dead. Almost all the ocntestants want to play for the car. |Maybe an incentive to take the money would be better.

That is just me. Let 'Em Roll rolls on with an 8/10.
