I like the set too, Barkers Bargin Bar is a pretty good game.  I find it harder when the discount is a small amount.  I like when it is played for two trips, it is usually easier to tell which one to pick.  I'll update on this later, but I read somewhere on this site about BBB not being called The Bargin Game, but at a very recent taping I saw the slate board set up for the next day and The Bargin Game was a name of one of the games on the board.  I know the name of the game is Barkers Bargin Bar, but I can't see "The Bargin Game" representing anything else...  I'll make an update on this after that show airs.  Umm... 7.68/10

This is a so-so game, IMHO, and is more notable for its glitzy set, the use of Bob's name, and the fact that the lights and trilons aren't working half of the time, though they keep right on playing anyway!  Not much of an excitement factor, though, but I do admit it's a bit better when it's played for trips.

My interest in this game is sparked a bit more now, however, with the announcement of Bob's retirement.  Will they keep the game -- and its name -- as a tribute to Bob?  Will they change the name to "match" the new host?  Will they just change it to a generic name (e.g., The Bargain Game)?  Or will they just retire it altogether?  I'm curious to see where this will go (and likewise for Barker's Markers...)

For obvious reasons, this is one of the games that did not appear in TnPIR'94 with Doug Davidson.  I thought it would have been funny at the time if they named it "Doug's Discount Dungeon" for his version of the show.

No disrespect to Bob, but not a favorite of mine.  I give it a 4 out of 10.

Say, what will they call this game after Bob retires? My guess is: The Bargain Game. That's its "other" official name, I've heard.

Good news: It's still Barker's Bargain Bar, and I like how Drew cracks jokes on this game, saying that it's named after a fictitious ancestor of Bob, usually Ezekiel Barker or Jebediah Barker, or even Bill Cullen. (Sometimes, he'll actually mention Bob and give the man his props.) It's one of my favorite quickie games, and the setup is one of the easiest in the world. But every once in a while, the game gets tough, and that's when you're most likely to pick the wrong choice and hear the MRRP and losing horns. Otherwise, I really, really, really love this game, even if it's over before you know it.

10/10.

An ok game. Why does it seem like the prize with an expensive price is the bigger bargain?

Barker's Bargain Bar has been one of my favorite games.  True, it was overplayed, but there was something about this game that I liked.  It was simple to understand (pick the prize with the bigger bargain price) and had a nice set.  If only it wasn't retired...

Total score: 8/10

This game never was one of my favorites -- until Bob left the show. It was the only game that was a connection to the past. I always liked the set for the game, but as some have said, the prizes weren't the best in the bunch most of the time.

I wish it were still in the rotation.

7/10.

There is no OFFICIAL announcement if the game is retired or not. From what I heard, the game is "on hiatus," but NOT retired.

Good game. Can get pretty tough. It always seems like the highest bargain price (before showing the ARP) is most frequently picked.

I really wish tht this game isn't really retired!!!!

Hopefully they are just making some tweaks to it.

If they are worried about the name, they can change it to something like Bargain Bar or Carey's Cupoun Counter.

9/10

Hey, what did I tell you all earlier? Barker's Bargain Bar is on hiatus, NOT retired.

That's why I said I wish it really isn't retired, and that it is just on hiatus.

Barker's Bargain Bar is a good game with a spectacular set. Your goal is to find which of the two prizes has the bigger bargain. Pick which one and you win both. It's a game that is "there" and it is a good way to get two prizes quickly. Sadly, there have been a couple of times where the actual price and difference was swapped. It's a good quick game for two prizes.

I'm going to give Barker's Bargain Bar a 7.5/10. It gets a bonus points for useing the "deep buzzer (MRRP!)" for losses, followed by the very familiar loseing horns.

I'm sorry, but I have to change my opinion on Barker's Bargain Bar. It's not the best game, neither it is a bad game. Please disregard my first post about it, I've had a change of heart about it. I'm going to give Barker's Bargain Bar a 6/10 now instead of a 7.5/10 because of the lack of difficulty, though some setups are hard, but it's rare nowadays to find that. It's just a game that is there.
