Game Shows as back drops for other tv show episodes..
« on: March 09, 2009, 09:16:47 AM »
So going on a thread someone asked about TPIR parodies....it got me thinking.. how about we start a thread devoted to game shows in general that are shown on other shows.

Here's what I can think of right now...

Wheel of Fortune on 227
Family Feud on Mama's Family
Price is Right on How I met your mother
Password on The Odd Couple
Who wants to be a millionaire on Spin City (So funny..)

I know there are plenty of others but thats whats on the top of my head right now..

And if you know the season it aired, would be cool also so if anyone wants to get the DVD of it...

Who could forget Jeopardy! on Cheers, where a certain postman from Boston builds up a comfortable lead, then loses the game in such dumb fashion that everyone calls it "pulling a Cliff Clavin."

Well, thats what also got me thinking of this thread and which puts me to shame because...I never saw the episode... lol. Do you know what season this was on? Sounds funny.. I like cheers to, and I might have seen the episode when I was younger.. but I forget.

They can be close at the top, too.

The Odd Couple - Password & Let Make A Deal.
Sanford & Son - The Gong Show.
A Big Rich Fields Drew Carey And Jeff Davis Fan For Ever From Kirsten

Rich Fields Thanks Kirsten. I pick out and supply all of my own clothing. That light gray suit is hard to pair with shirts and ties... but I think the lavender shirt and purple patterned tie pulled it all together.

My Favorite Announcers On The Price Is Right Are Johnny Olson Rod Roddy Rich Fields Jeff Davis.

I Met And Took Two Pictures With Jeff Davis On May 24, 2012 He Is So Nice And Kind In Person.

Rich Fields said this about Drew Carey will always be the first to defend Drew (Carey). He's one of the most genuine, down to earth people in Hollywood that I've ever met. He was the first to come to me and tell me that the show was going in a different direction. He assured me it was not his decision to let me go and I believe him. No one else was open and honest about it, but Drew was. We've continued working together on different projects and we stay in regular touch. We'll be good friends well into the future.

Sanford & Son - The Gong Show.

There was also a fictitious, LMAD-type show they were on---can't remember what it was called [I do know John Barbour played the host]. [ETA: It was called "Wheel and Deal".]

Are we counting fictitious shows at all? If so, I'd throw in "Golden Girls" and the "Grab That Dough" episode in a heartbeat.

I have two, both of Wheel Of Fortune; I don't know if there was one done with Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford - or Pat & Susan for that matter. Wouldn't be surprised, though.

The A-Team did an episode which began with the head guy (forgot his name) appearing on the show and winning big, buying a cigar case among other things; It had Pat, Vanna, and (I think) Jack Clark as themselves.

L.A. Law did one that I've likewise only seen once - the episode was "Vowel Play" and began like a BOB GOEN episode, complete with full open and everything. Shortly after the puzzle was solved it went right into the opening sequence. I recall the Phrase used - BALD IS BEAUTIFUL. Bob, Vanna, and Charlie O'Donnell played themselves.

If somebody could find these on YouTube, that would be great.

Was there an Alf episode with Wheel of Fortune? I think I can remember Alf watching it and playing along with it... was it anymore then just that clip?

I do believe there was an episode of Alf in the show's first season where he was watching Wheel of Fortune. However, I don't know if it was the daytime version or the syndicated version of the show that he was watching. I want to say the daytime version, but I could be wrong.

Perfect Strangers had a sort of look-a-like show that has the same stuff as of Fun House.

Gimme a Break, Nell Carter and Telma Hopkins were on Wheel of Fortune

I remember a Christmas episode of the Simpsons where Marge went on Jeopardy.

Yes, that aired in December 1997.

Perfect Strangers had a sort of look-a-like show that has the same stuff as of Fun House.

That was known as Risk It All, and Bob Goen played the host.
