And speakin' of Triple Play, did anyone notice the music in the first showcase? Yep, the same music that kicks the game off with the first car description. You don't suppose Mr. Blits said, "Gee, we're not using this cue for Triple Play anymore...let's use it in a showcase..."

hmmm...
We'll think of a signature. Don't worry.

Race Game, Any Number, and Cliff Hangers had some of Drew's weakest hosting in weeks...which was surprising after how well he hosted Money Game.  He had recovered by the Showcase, too -- the way he read off the Dodgers and asked for a round of applause for them even reminded me of Bob.

The Dodger appearance weren't bad (seriously, anything would have seemed like an improvement after the Kings debacle -- but this actually went over well), but it seemed kind of odd to have them be the focus of both the third Item up for Bids and the second showcase.  It's kind of like pricing game conflicts -- you don't realize how odd seeing them in the same episode would be until it actually happens.

And they probably should have tested the Dodgers during rehearsal to see which ones actually knew how to read a script.  The ones that ended up doing it spoke pretty darn badly -- they made Daniel Rosen sound like Johnny Olson!

I liked the way the watch was presented at the beginning of Any Number.

I think the show should go back to doing the showcases the way they were done during the barker era.

I vote that Fingers should write the showcases. Fingers has been with the show and is familar with some of the showcase skits, Like...
TPIR department store, The four seasons showcase, TPIR warehouse, the first bank of price, etc.

If you want the showcases to go back to normal, you probably want Stan and Adam writing them.  I'm not sure that's ever been one of Fingers's duties.

Pretty good show today, but there were a couple of things that I felt were bad. Music selections were terrible, the cue for the products in Grand game sounded like nothing but percussion. I just can't understand what is so bad about the CLASSIC music. I really miss hearing Cue 19 in pretty much every show and also miss the old showcase music like splendido and the one we heard last year for the "CBS security" showcase. Also, there were no shots of the turntable in rotation today which made things less interesting. And of course, How I wish the light border would return.

Stan picked quite a bit of people that were there for the Dodgers. I thought picking from the same group was generally frowned upon.

I think they were separate GROUPS so to speak, just with the same intent. I could be wrong though.

What if they did test them during the rehearsal and the ones that ended up doing it were the best of the bunch?

Money: A helluva way to kick off the hour.  :-)

Grand:...and once again, Nine-dollar plus lotion strikes another victim.

IUFB #3: While the prize did look just fine being offered, How come they didn't save that for the showcase and instead had baseball equipment offered?

Race: It felt like poor Brandon's brain froze over in between playings and some of the prices did look startling expensive and surprised me big time.

Any #: A throwback to Anitra bringing the little piggy bank onstage moment we got was such a treat. I definetly would've went with two as my last choice if I was Sandra. A watch beats a little piggy any day.

Cliff: Very well played.

Side: Am I the only one who thought "WTF" when the trip displayed on the plasma screen while the game still in front of the second door was one of the most dismally setups ever? Good win, though.

Showcases: You know? While both SC's did look fairly great. I feel guests like that Chef and the Dodgers (and others) have made me feel that it's just too much. Yes, Their appearance was good and not as incredibly stupid as the one with the Kings. But seeing this and the other SC make me wish to see more of the classic skits (TPIR Dept. Store, First bank of Price, etc.) and having Rich do the prize descriptions instead of them. I hope this is the last time for a while that we see this (Of  course it's likely we may see moe strangers on soon). The only appearance worth seeing is Bob!!!!

A 3-star show.

Then someone probably should have spoken up and said, "Y'know, maybe Rich should just read the whole thing."

This whole thing of adding guests in the showcases just reeks of the people on the show desperately wanting to do  things differently without regard if it's better.

But it's not better.  The guests are people we don't know (usually), they are people who don't have any on-screen presenece (they look awkward), they introduce prizes that Rich could do so much better, and it robs the showcase of excitement buildup.

It seems the show, with all the other things that they think they are doing better (e.g. video screens vs. trip skins, getting rid of games, etc.), is slowly poisoining itself without realizing it.

Totally agree, but than how would Fremantle reach their "Younger Demographic" without these stupid little gimmicks? Yes, it's slowly killing the show, but I really don't think they know what they are doing.

Money Game:  Nice job! :-)
Grand Game:  Rats! :-(  If I would've been playing, I would've walked with the $1,000.
Race Game:  Brain freeze is right, Joe.
Any Number:  Sandra sure fought hard.  Too bad she didn't win the car. :-(
Cliff Hangers:  Good job! :-)
Side By Side:  I thought for sure the trip to Miami would be $7,240! :-o
Showcases:  Both showcases were pretty nice today!

Pretty good show overall, IMHO.

^anyone noticing the consistent "IMHO" from Cartboy? I find that humorous. :-)

Remember, daytime is a (somewhat deservingly) underrated demographic, so the fact that guests would be obscure people doesn't surprise me. I still think that there are ways for the gimmicks to pertain more to the younger audience. Really... the way Price is Right was had simply spontaneous humor. That's really what has made it so popular among everyone young and old. It's still there. But if that can be accentuated even more so than the attempts at scripted humor, some of which have fallen way short, I think more people would take a greater liking to this show.
