I wonder if Drew is going to bring out Connor at least once a year, because he did so last year.  This time, I wonder why Connor was dressed in a Buzz Lightyear outfit, I wonder if the people at Disney were watching, hehe...

Kristen didn't play Switcheroo very well, with her looking to the audience for help, but I guess it paid off in the second turn, when she won the truck.

A similar note about Switcheroo, but I thought the reveal of the game before the SP descriptions was weird.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Mandel was playing Splendido! on the piano as Rich was describing it.  It was great that Drew acknowledged he invented ½ Off on the air.  I believe that's the first time since Bob announced Bart created Stack the Deck during a showcase showdown in Season 35. Aside from being in the audience for a number of tapings, including Bob's 50 Years special, he was a contestant on the 1998 version of Match Game, taped at the Bob Barker Studio, and won $5,500.

Most of the Drewcases this season were bad, but this one was somewhat tolerable, with all the trips.

-Entrance: Meh................
-Lineup: The 2nd half didn't do much at all. There's not you can do it to improve it with basically 3 quickies in there.
-Roo: Amazing win! Did DiPirro want to reveal it before the SPs? That's an unique part of the game that separates it from Bee, and shouldn't be changed. It could have been 35 or 45, but 25/75 were traps for sure. 10/10
-Safey: 6258 - 760 = 5498. 8/10
-OB3: You bought them but bid way low on them? Come on!
-Flippy: Finally we had a little luck here. 9/10
-SD1: 4/5
-OWP: I called the fridge being $$$ in chat. 8/10
-Pass: Dangit, you should go with the extremes...that rare #6 choice came one playing too short. The Peanut Gallery will kill you in this game because they will never say 1, mostly 3-5 where the Loses will always lie. 8/10
-Pa#: WTF? It actually was -00? That was so easy, it's hard, no joke. 8/10
-SD2: 4/5
-SC1: Parttttty... 4.5/5
-SC2: Why can't you just admit it was a general FRATS? Hot-air balloons and other extras don't change that. And, oh yeah, we better not be regressing back to Drewcases again. 3/5
-Results: Decent bids by both, but the trips didn't pan out that high. (I DOBed in CSS by 750/2400, wah.) 8.5/10
-Drew: I don't understand why he thought bringing on his son would be a good idea...he flopped all over the stage... 8/10

PGs: 51/60
SDs: 8/10
SCs: 16/20
Drew: 8/10

83 --> B

This turned out to be a very blah week, due to setups, Drew sometimes, SC writing sometimes...
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

I am absolutely gobsmacked that Double Prices hasn't been seen on TV in two and a half weeks.
They can be close at the top, too.

Another perk of being in the front row: you can beat out someone to a spot further to the right even if they were called before you!

We had some strange game reveals today, with Switcheroo coming out before the SPs were described, and Safe Crackers being shown from the get-go, although the latter may have been happening for a while now.

Did anyone else crack up when Heidi underpriced the perfume after stating her familiarity with it? It's almost as funny as the Navy official who couldn't price the boat. (obviously... neither should be taken literally. No offense to either.)

Mandel, what an amazing piano player too playing Splendido with such style! That's quite... splendid!

Pick-a-Number itself... well... people who've been aware of the trickery Price has been up to should've seen that 0 coming out of the hole. And man, this is game is getting a truckload of attention, almost unwanted.

And oh yes: PRIZES IN SC2 ARE LESS EXPENSIVE THAN THEY APPEAR.

Showcases themselves... I think interactions should be allowed between Drew and Rich without people immediately saying "Drewcase" in negative fashion. I think it's fine, so long as it doesn't irk anyone as being annoying, which it wasn't. :)

Now that it's up somewhere on the Internet... (fancast.com as of this posting)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Mandel was playing Splendido! on the piano as Rich was describing it.
Holy crap, it was!  That was awesome.

Best theme rendition still stands with that fella a couple weeks ago.

You'd think Drew would have been more enthusiastic at the open today, what with having his son come out with him.

I wonder why they had Switcheroo come around on the Turntable right after the truck description.

I loved how Heidi massively underbid on the cosmetics in the third IUFB right after talking about how she had them at home. :oldlol:

The second showcase was just awful.  Drew came off as completely disinterested (as he usually does when he participates in these things), and the script was of the atrocious variety that I thought had been gotten rid of in the last couple months.  It was almost embarrassing to watch.

The highlight of the episode was either seeing Switcheroo won or seeing Mandel playing the piano.  I can't decide which.

Definately the piano solo. He played the music quite nicely, and it sounded really good. Plus, all from memory.. there was no sheet music in front of him.

Safe Crackers' reveal has been happening that way (game being shown immediately) for awhile. I actually miss the old reveal there, because now it's obvious when 5 Price Tags is going to be played when you see that same shot, well, without Safe Crackers being immediately shown. Before there was a bit of suspense as to which of the two would be played.

As for Switcheroo's new reveal, not sure what to think there. I think this honestly was done so DiPirro could get a shot of Switcheroo coming around the turntable (remember, this is his first time directing this game). However, I think it still would be better if the SPs were introduced and then Switcheroo introduced coming around the turntable. That being said, the new reveal isn't awful, it's just indistinguishable from Spelling Bee now, which is unfortunate.

Speaking of unfortunate, this entire week of Price has not been overly encouraging (though still not nearly as bad as early-season). Recent showcases have been starting to phase the Drew/Rich interaction in again, but today's stunk - just terrible writing. (I'll give them that Wednesday's Mini Cooper showcase was actually pretty good, so take note of that.) The setups are getting almost unfairly hard (PA# today, by the way, had to be about the most bizarre thing I've ever seen - Roger would have called that cheating) and Drew's hosting is beginning to be erratic again (way too much mumbling going on this week, especially on today's and Thursday's shows, yet at the same time Drew was his usual great self in Tuesday's One Away and hosted that entire show particularly well). Plus the lineups are beginning to time short again - today's was 26 minutes and three of the other 4 this week were 26.5. This lineup today started awesomely, but basically did not exist after the second game, unless you like Pass the Buck.

Two things I really liked about today's show though: A) Splendido on piano! Yay! B) A Switcheroo win! Awesome! (Only the 2nd time in the Drew era) And not only that, but we got to hear one of the longest playings of that cue we've heard in awhile, and Drew probably did the best job of hosting that game I've ever seen him do (didn't diss the small prizes, and as it turned out bailout wasn't even a factor today because she got 0 right the first time.)

Steve, who decided on Safe Crackers' new reveal back in 2005, was it Bart or did Roger do it to shave some time off of the game?

Actually, you know Spelling Bee may be coming around the turntable if you hear Rich announce the price of the car in the description.  That doesn't happen with Switcheroo.

Roger has done at least one double-zero setup before, hasn't he?  I swear that I read a recap where the last number was missing and the correct choice was zero, and it seemed to make sense.

If I remember correctly, this was one of several changes they made when the Season 34 time cuts happened.

I don't care what you think of Drew as host, but he's a great Dad. And his son is adorable. Go Buzz Lightyear!

And on a personal note, I missed the last half of today's show b/c it was interrupted with non-stop tornado coverage. I spent the better part of two hours huddled in a closet with my own wife and son as most of my surrounding community here in Murfreesboro, TN, was destroyed. We were fortunate that we suffered minimal damage. A woman and her 9-week-old daughter sadly lost their lives, just a half-mile from my home.

"Who is that little kid?" Oh, that's his son. To Season 40 and beyond...

Switcheroo: I was watching one of my videos of Switcheroo where a contestant changed the number for the car. Maybe that was a sign that it was going to be played today. Ah, a rare win.

One Bid 2: First my campus library has a display floor, all about The Beatles and most of their albums and now this. Is this a moment in their history? Speaking of my campus, Philip can be a ringer for one of my instructors.

Safe Crackers: Well, sheer nervousness and audience reliance played a role here.

One Bid 3: Bobbi Brown cosmetics? Created especially for Whitney Houston?? [ducks down]
[Ducks down more because of stupid bids and another 420 winning bid]

Flip Flop: "Just Flip, Flip, not Flop." Swell.

One Wrong Price: "Ah, they were both wrong. No harm."

One Bid 5: This was one of those moments where I had to pause the disc on the bids.

Pass the Buck: For a moment, I thought you could see a little red behind (2), so I stayed away from that. I would've said (5) and still lose.

One Bid 6: "Oh, giving Ronald a very little leeway, huh, Manuel?" Yup, and it worked.

Pick-a-Number: From first glance: "Is that him? Is it? It is!" "Win or lose, Mandel, take us home!" And he did. Wow! Splendido on a piano. I am so close to picking up an instrument and learn to play Price is Right music.
Ya know, with the clear audio from the cbs.com site, I think I heard a drumbeat at the end of the Losing Horns. Is that how it it's been all the time?
