CSS Results for April 16
« on: April 16, 2009, 03:20:23 PM »
Good news: there were FOUR DSWs today. Bad news: None of them counted.

I had no idea how to price the trip to Cabo, so naturally that's the one I DSWd, and then went over by about $1,200 on the truck/NYC/iMac combo. Let's just say that nobody's doing a real victory dance today. The three scorers are still garfers, though the definitive winner is Frank15... I think this is proof that he DOESN'T get the same showcases as the rest of us!!!

And the Plinko doubler wound up not really mattering... the winner went over with almost everyone else, so forget that.

Nyeh.

And to think I could have won the day if I didn't bid so high...

I pegged a range for that Cabo trip to be between $16,000 and $50,000.

I love how they can take a cheap trip and sex-it-up.  :(
They can be close at the top, too.

I was the only DSW of the first showcase and I blow the second one.   :headbang:  Just pitiful.

Ooh, how close I came to that Plinko doubler.  And bidding $18,000 on that second showcase.  I'd sing "Could've Been," but that would be insulting to my current avatar.

Ah well.  Who cares if my bid on the first showcase wasn't really that good?  A win's a win :P!

30709 / 16609 - No way I was risking anything on a base of MEXICO. It's Hawaii and even more additions like private beaches that made it 25k. Nice to see I would have survived a big one and cashed...then again, today is sorta a day off b/c of Barker...lol. ;)

Now then again, I could be wrong about my theory of base trip price, so don't quote me...but on Hawaii there was a yacht, exclusive beaches, and a ton of extras...and it was only 25,542. I think there's an established range for these mega-trips if you look closely.

EDIT: Oof, Fireball, you got right back to WSDing... :'(

Part of my mistake in SC2 was that I thought the yacht (which I estimated at the price of a boat--even though boats have vastly different prices) came with the trip.  If I didn't include the yacht in my bid, I would've bid either in the $14,000s or $15,000s.

Also, I believe this is my 3rd day this week, I went OVER on one of the showcases.

Somehow I think Stagey made this mistake too...I didn't think the copy suggested it was included...I'll have to review it, interesting.

I admit I completely forgot the doubler today. Not sure yet. Wouldn't have mattered, though, since has Tom has said many times, 0 multiplied by 2 is, well, 0.

EPIC FAIL

I had a feeling the Cabo trip would claim a lot of victims today.  I agree with Wayoshi in that the key term here is Mexico.  The Vegas package that we saw twice this season went for $16,000 exactly.  Cabo isn't all that much farther away, and I don't think the private yacht for a day is worth a whole lot more than the penthouse room in Vegas.

Note to self:  Honda Ridgeline = ~$30,000, not $20,000.  That's why I garfed so badly on SC1.

$33,300/$16,400... am I missing something? What made everyone excited about Cabo San Lucas? I had a tough time getting it above $17K, which I was about to do, but decided against at the last second. Turns out I should have, but hey... I still did better than everyone else. 8)
