Nope, Bonus Game was played last earlier this season for a car--it was real early in the season with one of Roger's last lineups he had put together for this year before he was unceremoniously dumped. 2 for the Price of 1 was played 5th--prior to Bonus Game that day. Gas Money, I believe, was the one true car game that day.

I stand corrected. I guess I forgot about that. Another reason why this game should be played more than 5 to 7 times a season (as well as a few more).

The Rose Marie spot?  I had to look that one up in search.  It's a reference to Hollywood Squares?

That can also be true with the center spot as "The Paul Lynde Spot" and the lower left corner as "The George Gobel Spot".  The square-style design for the turntable and the three doors WERE taken from "The Hollywood Squares" between 1979 and 1981.

To those who may complain that the staff was sloppy with the Money Game setup today ("39" was in the Rose Marie spot instead of 37), riddle me this:

For years, before Season 34, when Roger was still producer, there were random numbers in that spot, and nobody seemed to have a problem with that.

See here's my thinking..

Monday...show starts off in the middle of the "Walking" cue
Tuesday...Show gets tagged TV-14
Wednesday...Money Game top center no longer reflects the Season #.

You are spot on grf...for many years before that box could have been any one of the nine choices of two-digit numbers.

But it's my belief that they did these things to see what most people HERE would say about it and just how some people might go bonkers over a change that most people wouldn't know got changed or care about.

Sickingly enough though, I'll watch to play "Where's Mike's Head".  Maybe tomorrow they'll have Rich go "tieless".

You know, I've read this reference a couple of times, so I looked it up. Is this to what you're referring?

This isn't exactly related to:

(Although this misguided chromakey does bear a slight resemblance:)

I just don't see where this comparison is true. The Hollywood Squares set looks more like the Purina logo than anything on The Price is Right. Do you have a picture that makes the comparison clearer?

While I don't believe there is any hard evidence that the turntable artwork was definitely taken from the Hollywood Squares design, I believe he is referring flash sequence on the squares during the opening of the show:

I think it's also possible that Bente took inspiration from the area behind Peter Marshall from 1968-1979 or so, which does resemble the turntable pattern a lot.

Not to mention the pattern behind the "Circle" podium was apparently copied off the old Barker Wall (1972-83), which predates the honeycomb design we know today.

Punch: James better be lucky he got what he started with. I don't think I ever want to visit Pasadena ever.

Money: Jeremy scored a major victory on his last pick and I'm sure his fiancee' loves him more than ever.  :-)

Switch?: Very nice.

PickPair: Lucky for Martin on the price of that cheese or we never got to see the TPIR turn into Dance Party USA.

Card: Too bad.

Balance: Holy S**t!!!  :-o That piano was more expensive than I thought!!!

SHowcases: Just out of curiosity, When was the last time a trailer was offered in a showcase as of late? I have a hunch it may have been a few months.

A 3.50-star show.

You're right, CGJohn. The H2 main board does evoke the current TPiR set (though, being a flash pattern, does so fleetingly, at best). But as it's limited to just those nine squares, I can't agree that Bente "lifted" it and applied it to today's Price. The motif is similar, but that could be said of any square-gridded theme.

I think it's also possible that Bente took inspiration from the area behind Peter Marshall from 1968-1979 or so, which does resemble the turntable pattern a lot. <...image removed for space...>

Now this I can agree to. But only that it was an inspiration, the (implied) allegation was that it was wholeheartedly stolen, which just doesn't bear out in the images.

Not to mention the pattern behind the "Circle" podium was apparently copied off the old Barker Wall (1972-83), which predates the honeycomb design we know today.

I'd say the old Barker Wall is a more likely inspiration for today's set than anything. Substitute the circle with a square, and that thing could be on stage today.

Punch a Bunch: An easy small prize selection for once, but he couldn't capitalise on the opportunity. It'll be good to see a $25,000 win once it happens, though he did the right thing.
Money Game: A great win, and I thought he lost.
Switch?: Good decision to leave it alone. And two San Juan trips? I'm lost there.
Pick a Pair: It's my favourite music cue on the show played again (Temptation cue, I forget which one)! And on Pick a Pair, it was quite an easy setup for once.
Card Game: Youch, I knew she stopped too early. The key in this game is to stop at about $1,000-$2,000 into the car range.
Balance Game II: A crapshoot for an expensive piano. It's great to see a piano being played again, but my goodness, that was an expensive piano!

That's the one of the most frustrating things about Drew--his innate ability to just start mumbling at any time during any point of the show.

I agree 100%. A host should be consistently good in attitude and mannerisms and with Drew you have to "hope that he will have a good episode."  After two years, we should be well past hoping that Drew will be good and he should be consistent in attitude, professionalism, and presentation, for each show.  That's what is not happening and is the most frustrating, especially to LFAT viewers.

At this point, if Drew could cut the mustard at Price, his performance would be strong enough where he would not need to be evaluated from show to show.  However, based on the inconsistencies that I am seeing, I don't think Drew will ever get to that point.
