CSS Results for May 18
« on: May 18, 2009, 01:45:58 PM »
I went three whole weeks without overbidding. Well, that streak is over, darnit. Of the thirty-one players today, only ten managed to score, but there was an event in that.

After a DSW on Friday, JokerFan follows it up today with a QSW. This means 4x points. Now before people go jumping on me, here's how cash works in this situation:

JokerFan QSWd. Had he also had the best bid on BOTH showcases, he would have received the money for both showcases twice. However, in this case, TPIRSteven also DSWd with a better bid on the trips, so HE gets cash for both showcases as well. DSWs/QSWs have no guarantee of of cash since someone can beat you on either showcase and possibly garf the other. Who knows?

Speaking of, that first showcase was just cruel. Not even $18K for two trips to non-standard locations, plus the hot and cold weather clothing? Bah. At least the Jenn-Air appliances and car were vaguely normal to price, though there weren't many great bids on that. Nice job to Stage Player for a great bid on it, too.

In chat, I mentioned I had a productive CSS playing.  As it turns out, not quite as productive, as I originally thought.  Still, I managed a QSW for the first time, even if I didn't get as much money as I thought.  Probably only a matter of time before I do get the best bid and I'm a QSW.

Wow, my first time ever, and I didn't do absolutely horrible.
One of the few that didn't go over on the first showcase, but blew the second showcase by about $600.

Oh well, hope I can try again after school's over with for the summer.

Wow, a QSW? I'm glad to see that someone did well today. Congrats, JokerFan.

As for me... well, I was the second-closest to SC2...just in the wrong direction...

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

Pleased with my effort to start the week. Wanted to be more aggressive with 1, but it just smelt cheap to me. In 2, I kinda feared the appliances would be $$$$$ and I'd wind up garfing, but they really weren't.

I'll take that point total and those differences any day of the week, though.

Overall, I didn't think quite that many people went over today.

There's only one problem with those trips that I "won" -- none of them were to Vegas.  Both of those trips were complely random, and I really had no idea on the price of anything in that showcase.  So my DSW and cash win were about 99% luck in this case.  (Maybe the 7's did it...)  :D

Congratulations JokerFan on your QSW!  After my garf on SC2, you definitely deserved the cash more than I did.  I guess it all depends on how we formulate the last two or three digits in our bids.

Note to self:  Loaded Chevy Cobalt = More than $16,000.  And those appliances were probably closer to $5,000 than $3,000.

15009 / 25009 - I knew Stagey's 2 bid was very good, so I stuck with it and did just fine. I'll have to find out which trip on 1 was more than 8k (Fiji?), but no way in heck I could possibly think of being aggressive on that - as Steven said, those were quite random and could have been exotic or super-cheap or middle range. Can't wait for whinbaby to give us an idea on those.

EDIT: Hey, our first QSW since Kev awhile ago! Nice going!

EDIT2: Steven, that Jenn-Air set was 6k on the 4/23 SC, I remember since I garfed due to it. The Cobalt was probably in the 17k range.

I had actually thought I won the day, so imagine my surprise to find out about the QSW.

Congrats, Joker!

$21,200/$24,400... I assume that Armadillo's similar bid on the first showcase means he thought that the trips would be fairly expensive, like I did. It means that my streak of not losing to Armadillo stays alive, fortunately.
