Exactly 20 years before Drew's first show aired on CBS, after a summer break, Bob "went on a blind date" and had his hair turned white!  Also, the 1987-1990/1 design of the Clam debuted on this day as well as the second TPIR sign in the back of the audience.

I can tell the staff sure liked the Superball-style dollar signs.  They were on the background for the car in 3 Strikes, the Clam, and the fly-by used in the last one-bid.  Needless to say, I loved ALL of them! :-D

Great to see a perfect playing of 3 Strikes.  If Mary hadn't miss the 5 on the 1st draw, that would've been an exacta.

I see they offered a prize with the car in 3 Strikes, similar to the $800 Shell card these days.

Good lord, that desktop phone is HUGE!

I know Phyllis was probably meaning $11,000 for her bid on her showcase, but $1,100!?

For some reason, I expected the current small buzzer to show up in this episode, and got an even harsher-sounding buzz instead. But at least they did cue up the current big buzzer; and speaking of which, I never expected that sound to signal a loss in Pick-a-Pair (like it would have in Take Two).

Looking at the split-screen for the old ferris-wheel Pick-a-Pair, I think that's where Drew got the inspiration from, since they now use it in his SCSDs. And even 22 years later, it still feels weird to see a white-haired Bob at the Big Wheel with pink Pricedown dollar signs on the walls; he looks much better in later episodes, when the walls of the Big Wheel have gold SuperBall!!! dollar signs on them.

Did you mean to say Rich DiPirro?

Bart started doing the split-screen on November 19, 2007's show, and Rich DiPirro continued that practice.  I don't think the split-screen here was an inspiration for Bart or Rich.

Does anyone think the "intros" attached to these videos are just plain tacky?

And just why do they need to be bugged with a web address?

/Constructive criticism....

I agree. I never felt a need to put anything at the beginning or end of videos. People just want to see the videos. They're well aware of who uploaded them. Just my 2 cents~!

I hadn't "bugged" any vids on my site until recently.

For me, I was kind of tired of people taking vids from my site and posting it to their Youtube accounts. If people had been doing it and giving a "taken from..." credit, that would be a different matter.

I guess if I had a web site, that'd bug me too. Good point there as well.

Now this was an episode that I really enjoyed. That win in 3 Strikes was certainly one of the best wins in that game in the history of the show.

Well, I guess he didn't like me commenting on his video directly.  He blocked me.

If he's that afraid of someone giving the least shred of criticism, why did he do that?
