Hey Guys, there is a buzz around here and Syd Vinnedge will not be the Executive Producer of Price is Right next season.

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend.   Wink

Who's the new EP?

Wouldn't surprise me if it was Drew... simply because we've pretty much determined he's the de facto Executive Producer (not to mention the producer pact with CBS).

HO. LY. CRAP.

...that is all.

EDIT: No it's not, because I didn't see Tony's post.  Razz At any rate, I also wouldn't be surprised if he got some level of producership but...Syd's level? I thought that was kind of a level Fremantle wouldn't be willing to give up pretty easily.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was Drew.

He already is, but it will take until he's given that title in the credits for some to believe.

Not that this will make much difference.  Syd's hardly done a thing since becoming EP, but I question if he's leaving or been fired.  I can't see Drew firing him, since he's pretty much the only one in a place higher than Drew, but anything's been possible this season.

I haven't actively watched the show for almost a year now... because the show is no longer fun for me to watch.

How anyone is still enjoying the show is beyond me.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought it's been said in here that ONLY the very higher ups at Fremantle could touch Syd's position. Which means he got fired, chose to leave, or "chose" to leave, which would probably connect to the first one.

I'm not at all surprised that we have a new EP, but I shudder to think (and hope) it's not Drew!

Why not Drew?  He's made the show his own now.  Why not give it him?

A departure that was long overdue - though still not excising the actual problem(s)  / disease  from the patient.

I wouldn't be so sure about that titles don't mean much.

Remember the Lorimar lovelies are the ones who put tpir in this mess in the first place and they are going to do whatever their baby cakes host/star wants so not to make them bad..

*does spit-take*

Wow, they are giving Syd the heave-ho?!  Did Drew request this or did the higher-ups at Fremantle decide?

Now the speculation as to who the new EP will be begins; do we know when Syd's last show as EP will air?

This is just a thought that crossed my mind here, but there's no way it's Roger.  It would be the surprise of the century if it was, though.

Until we know who's replacing Syd, I can't really comment on this. I am thinking it won't change too much, though.

He's ALREADY Executive Producer.
I believe his official title is "co-"Executive Producer.  Or so says the credits.  Syd's is just "Executive Producer".  Technicality, I know.
(In reference to M. Richards.)

Something must really be bonkers if Syd's not the EP anymore...he's wanted his hands ALL OVER this since he was able to be a part of production...what...seven or eight years ago now?

Nobody worry.  Roger got his cash and had to run to the bank.  He'll be back in a little while.

Technically, according to ewalker, Syd wanted to mess with the show for 15 years now, since All American Television bought the show.  He really started getting involved around 1999-2000, when the 5-year agreement about him not getting his hands on the show was up, which was done when All-American Television bought Mark Goodson Productions in 1994.

Another pint of beer

...............

Another pint of beer Another pint of beer Another pint of beer

A toast! To Syd getting the hell out of our favorite game show!

Why is everyone immediately counting out Mike Richards?...

Because ol' Mikey was the one responsible for removing the Light Border from the opening, among other things.

Hey, "nanny", is there any way we can oust Mike Richards while the good news keeps coming?

Why not Drew? He's made the show his own now. Why not give it to him?

Because a majority of the changes this season (plus cutting the "Mark Goodson" name from the contestant cards) was Drew's doing. Firing Bart Eskander in favor of Marc Breslow Rich Brian DiPirro was the best thing he's done.

This is just a thought that crossed my mind here, but there's no way the new EP is Roger. It would be the surprise of the century if it was, though.

*crosses fingers* At least it would justify his receiving a paycheck from Fremantle. The fact that they're paying their best employee to not work is appalling...but not too far from Fremantle's jack-ass reputation.

====

As for the new Executive Producer...I hope it isn't Fingers, Mike, or Adam - and I sure as HELL hope it isn't Drew. Bring in someone competent who knows what they're doing and can keep Drew from becoming Bob (in the behind-the-scenes way) while simultaneously keeping the show from becoming so gimmick-laden that there's shark fins all around and Cancellation Slips raining down...

How about Roger Dobkowitz? He's competent, knows what he's doing, can keep Drew from becoming Bob (in the behind-the-scenes way), and save the show from becoming so gimmick-laden that there's shark fins all around and Cancellation Slips raining down.

And even if cancellation is drawing nigh - no matter what happens from this point forward - then having Roger as EP will at least let the show go out with its head held high.
