JC, Price is Right's famous losing tuba music was re-recorded in 2007.  Will the current losing horns be in TPIR 2010?

Question, JC, about PYL.

Here's a picture of the PYL game. Obviously, you're not using any traditional Press Your Luck board configuration in this shot, because there was never a trip in Square 4. EVER. Why the different board configuration?

Yeah, good question, Cory. I also noticed you didn't do the coins surrounding the dollar amounts or arrows for "Move X spaces". See this image, with coins surrounding the money space, the first shows a move one, with arrow, space:

Why is this? I don't feel it would take up that much space, but, I may be wrong.

Isn't this being a LITTLE bit TOO picky? 99.9999999999999999999999999999% of the people that buy the game aren't going to care if there's a trip in the 4th square or if there's coin around the money. This is just me, but it seems a lot of us are critiquing the game already and it's not even released yet. Maybe we should praise some of the good work they've done.

You're right, I will give them high praise marks for the great work I've seen so far on the whammies (I've seen none better); creating games is no easy business, I know that on a personal level. It still will very likely be an enjoyable game, and, as it was said for TPiR, they are appealing to the common fan. A good point you mentioned how most won't notice these things... That said, I'm awfully nitpicky, possibly because I'm a perfectionist myself. I do have a right to notice that, and wonder, "Why is this?"

I'm admittedly pickier with PYL than I am with TPiR.

The coins I can forgive hands down, but with as much as talk as I heard around the time the game was announced about it being "as true to the show" as possible, I'm very surprised at the configuration of the board. The PYL DVD game had this same flaw, and I think it detracted from the game (even though "stopping" the board resulted in only the popping up of a screenshot of the space hit). Knowing that the big bucks were always in Square #4 added to the excitement of hitting it, IMO.

I understand there are certain limitations with the platforms for which the games are created, and how that might result in games not playing exactly like the show, (I.E. spinning order, rules regarding passing spins, etc.) but it seems like the board configuration would be an easy thing to integrate. Especially when there are a few sites that list every configuration the show had in great detail. I couldn't care less if the board values weren't in their proper places (the show shuffled spaces around all throughout the run), but the board kept a general layout the whole time. The couple of "random spaces all over" layouts seen in the DVD game, and that photo, just don't do it for me.

Hmm... maybe this thread needs to be split off or moved?  Wink

Exactly. I don't care what is put in any of the other slots, but if square 4 doesn't have the biggest values of the round, plus the "Big Bucks" square below it, it'll be pretty disappointing. For now, I'll just hope stuff was randomly assigned for this public beta build.

I'm sorry, but when a company asks the community what board configurations to use but ignore them for whatever reason, then I'm rather insulted. When I'm asked to remove my game that seems to be already more faithful to the show than the "official" game just because they have money and I don't, I'm even more so. I want this to succeed as much as the next guy, but the reason the show was so popular and exciting was, in part, because of the statistics brought by the configuration of the board. All I want is reasonable justification as to why, then Maybe I'll be happy.

Cory, I know a place where your [PYL] game can still be played... you have to register, but, it's free. You might enjoy it, it's a sports site, but only for die-hards; I belong to it. If you want to know the site, shoot me a PM, for removal purposes or redirectal of people who care to play your rendition, which for a 1-player game, is greatly authentic. Not to mention, how young you were.

I appreciate it, but I'd rather not know, for legal reasons. Besides, it's not like I don't have a copy anywhere.

Let's also not forget that this isn't even the finalized game - this is a sneak peak of the game.

JC was waaaaaaaaaaay ahead of ya:

As you can see, there's a bit of coverage on TPIR2010 and PYL2010 - you can also find articles on Destructoid along with a few screenshots they took with their camera.

Rich Fields is still doing the voiceover work for TPIR. Someone else (who is incredibly good, I might add, but might be known a bit less) is doing the voices for PYL and Family Feud. I'm not allowed to say who yet, but he does fantastic work and is a seasoned voice actor. And it's not Todd Newton.

I swear, JC, if you've hired Daniel Rosen for these games... Evil or Very Mad

Let's hope it's not Daniel Rosen doing the voice overs in the games.
