Todd's right. $1,000.50 +$1,000.50 = $1,001. Could happen. I've always wondered about that so-call rule about a pair of prizes always have to end in an even number.

Freezy:  How was that lost?  $6,495 was just screaming "Pick me!"

One-Bid #2:  Yay!  Half-Off cue! :P

Hi-Lo:  Can you say the word "cornholders" on daytime TV?  And should you really be showing Eric holding the corn cob like that?  I need a shower.  This segment made me feel dirty.

Punchy:  About time this game coughed up more than $500.  Courtney definitely earned that $5,000, considering that she got stuck with a couple of impossible SPs.

Cover:  This game is on a hot streak!  Three straight wins!  And Tasha needed only two chances to win.

My showcase bids:
Islands--$23,107
Theater/MINI--$29,107
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Freeze Frame was SO set up for a win it wasn't even funny.
There is a bonus factor in this game - WHERE it is set up and the patience of the contestant. Both of these did not line up today.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

We need to discuss how TPIR rounds prices.  $1000.49 rounds to $1000.  $1000.51 rounds to $1001.  What does $1000.50 round to?  We need to determine that.  The IRS I believe rounds 1000.50 to 1001.  Does TPIR? I also believe that the IRS says on the 1040 to add lines together, including the cents, then round the result to the nearest dollar.  We need to determine if TPIR does it that way, too.  But we can assume some taxpayers would round off all their lines to get $xxxx.00 anyway.

What does TPIR do when they add up the ARP of their prizes?

We need to determine whether TPIR would ACCEPT prizes ending in $xxxx.50 to avoid controversy in court.

Finally we need to know what game is being played.  If they are playing Eazy Az 123 or Danger Price, each prize is unrelated to the other 2 or 3.  So they round each prize separately, correct?  We need to know whether they round each prize, then add up just whole numbers or whether they use the IRS 1040 method of adding up the prizes including the cents then rounding the total.  I worked for the IRS, I've done tax returns for my regular life.

OK, now you are getting a bit silly.  The bean-counters at CBS are paid big bucks to make sure the taxes are all paid and ready to go.  Having said that, it would seem to me that the total prize package is what gets rounded, not the individual prizes.  So, if an ATV has a MSRP of $1999.50, then it could be possible to see a pair go for $3999.

Having said that, the MSRP on items are rarely decimal values, especially on higher-ticket items.  So unless there is an MSRP specific to a pair, I think the "even digit" policy for Double-Prices is pretty sound strategy.

What does $1000.50 round to?
.50 rounds up to 1.  Just as many numbers round up as they do down.  0 - 4 up and 5 - 9 down (5 each).  That's mathematically correct, so I'd assume it's also TPIR correct.

Freeze Frame: $6495 was just begging to be picked.

Any Number: Those Ranger’s are getting expensive.

Hi Lo: The corn holder almost threw me for a loop there. Nice win.

Double Prices: Tough loss.

Punch-a-Bunch: That was quite the comeback.

Cover Up: Nice Win.

Showcases: Good showcases.

Decent show today. We had another good lineup again today.

I've always wondered about that so-call rule about a pair of prizes always have to end in an even number.

MSTie discusses it in detail here, and talks about how the rounding on the show works.

It is by no mean a hard and fast rule, but it seems like for some reason the general exceptions are pairs of bikes (I recall a $795 and $851 pair).

I was at the taping, so here's my two cents from an audience member perspective:

* Huge edit in IUFB #2: Rich announced "A desk and chair" while the exercise thing was being modeled.  Everyone and Drew laughed and so on.  So if you wondered why Drew was making fun of the prize after the copy, that's why.  I'm sad that was chopped out.

* The way close-up zoom on the Punchboard reveal was because this was also re-shot after the playing.  They just "pushed" the punched-out paper back in place and lowered the tag, then re-shot the "dollar bill wave" reveal.  I guess the broken paper showed up so they went in tight.

* Audience members now fill out a written card which is basically a written version of Stan's interview.  They do also take everyone's picture, and the p[age makes sure to get your contestant number in the shot.

* Drew really does a great job of talking with all the contestants and many people in the audience in breaks.  I was amazed how much friendlier he was than Bob.  He ans Rich also have great (and usually funny) banter between each other in breaks.  They really make a great on and off air duo.

* There's a new (and odd) video they play before Rich's (shortened) warm up of highlights of wacky contestants.  Hint, hint, to all you 300 people out there watching!

*  Both tapings were filled and turned people away, but it was Memorial Day.

More later, if I think of it.

Anyone know the reason why there was only two models Amber and Lanisha on today's show?  Isn't it usually three or so lately?
