Why the hell are they using the old LLS logo on the Ferguson showcase?
I'm guessing the show was taped before the LLS's conversion to HD and before the logo redesign.

Indeed it was. That episode was taped back in June - LLS didn't start using the new logo until August 31st.

Wow. Craig was really...superfluous in this showcase. Any other person in the world, or even Rich, could have easily read all of his lines and nothing would be out of place. Couldn't they have offered a Scottish theme at least? Or have him present it in-character as Nigel Wick, threatening to send the contestant off to these places if they don't shape up as an employee. (If Kathy Kinney can play her Drew Carey Show role, why doesn't Craig get a chance to?) That's sort of a letdown, that the show has these opportunities and they don't use them to their full potential.

Who on earth is doing the showcases these days? I know it can't be Stan because he actually has a clue what he's doing...

You know, that's what really got me about the showcase. I thought he even said in his interview with Drew that he gave away a trip to Scotland?

It was my understanding that when Kathy played "Mimi", she was limited as to what she could do and say for legal reasons (e.g. licensing issues); notice, she didn't say more than 2 words the entire time during the April Fools show. I'm willing to bet (if they actually wanted to) they couldn't do Nigel Wick for the same reasons. Simply put, Drew may have been The Drew Carey Show, but he doesn't own it, he just collects the royalties!

Still, though, there were many themes that could be done with Craig as himself.

Borrow some of the LLS set pieces, like the backdrop, a chair, and Craig's desk. Then..."This showcase contains prizes revealed as TV's Craig Ferguson is bored to death with a guest on his show! His guest tonight just goes on and on about her kids..." Have one of the models nattering on, and have Craig do a voiceover with a snide remark about how boring she is and how he'd rather be in...Las Vegas! After rich describes the trip, have the model keep going on, leading Craig to stand up and announce "I feel bad about your kids, I really do! So bad I'm paying your way on a trip to Random Tropical Island Locale Number One!" And then work in the Prius somehow. Might not be the best, but it could be worked up to something pretty good, especially if Craig was allowed to help write it.
