CBS never owned TPIR.
They can be close at the top, too.

True, but they had some authority of what was going on, that's what I meant.

Why Did they get rid of the Mark Goodson Credit at the end of the show?

They got rid of it in Season 36, but they edited out Rich's announcement of MGP at the end and put in "A FremantleMedia Production!" (you can faintly hear Rich say, "A Mark Goodson Television Production!" during the first few taped shows of Season 36)
"Cherish the past, accept the present, and anticipate the future.  They are listening to feedback wherever feasible, but they can't repeat the past."

So does anyone truly know what the opening now says or what actually did get cut?

I don't think anyone has been able to confirm EXACTLY what the new opening says.  But it appears what we have surmised (somewhat confirmed) in this thread  a few things, Promoman.  First, the opening has obviously changed some, at least shortened.  Maybe only by a few seconds.  We do not know why, or who was behind it, thus far.  However, we have established that (thankfully) "The Bob Barker Studio" remains in there, (per John) Also, there are still four contestants being called, still four "Come On Down's" as well.  So no need to be too worked up, IMO.  Especially since we have acknowledged the opening has changed many, many times over the years.  For me as long as its still very similar to the same feel, excitement, and cadence of the previous opening, (which it appears to be as per Trapperm) then I am not very worried.  It could have been much worse.

Per chance Trapper, do we know who the new EP is?

It had been mentioned on Drew's blog [correct me if I'm wrong] that Mike Richards is now sole EP.

Forgive me if I'm overanalyzing this but doesn't "sole EP" imply that either he was EP or that there was recently more than one EP?

If I'm not mistaken, Vinnedge and Richards were co-EPs last season, and with Syd now gone and Mikey now flying solo, Drew's choice of words makes sense.

Syd Vinnedge was credited as "Executive Producer" and Mike Richards was credited as "Co-Executive Producer".  Now, according to Drew's tweet, Mike Richards is now "Executive Producer."  There has been no speculation or confirmation of a Co-executive producer.

This is interesting.

If they don't hire a "Co-Ex Producer," do you think they might have been trying to get rid of Syd before Season 37 started, and just using Mike as a test trial to see if he could uphold the duties? Just a thought, but it seems all too fishy that Syd leaves and Mike just conveniently takes his spot.
