Top winner bid %
« on: August 06, 2009, 10:50:07 PM »
Not to sound like a total nerd, but I was wondering what the percentage is that the top winner in the showcase will bid on the first showcase presented to that contestant. I'm guessing it's probably around 70-80%. Anyone done any calculations on this?

Also, is there any rhyme or reason to which contestant Drew goes to first when revealing the showcase prices?

I don't know what to say about the percentages--good luck finding anyone that has--but as far as I know, the only rhyme or reason to which one he goes to first is that he goes to whomever the producers tell him to go to.  I read someplace that the producers decide which order would make for the most dramatic reveal.

And most people know that when drew starts with one contestant, if there difference is less than 1000, then the second bid is going to be close, a dsw, or a very painful overbid.

If one person bids $1, then the the ARP of that person's showcase will be read first.

I don't fully know either, but I'm certain it's less than 50%.  I'm also certain that percentage was lower for Season 37 than for most, if not all, previous seasons, which actually says something about what contestants thought about those "new and awesome" showcases.

Season 37: 47/190 (24.74%)
Seasons 29-36: 488/1404 (34.76%)

Season 31 was slightly lower than Season 37, at 24.57% (43/175), but otherwise Season 37 saw more passed Showcase than normal.

My theory on why the % is low is because some contestants wanted to win a car in the showcase, yet many times a car wouldn't be offered at all, or only in the second showcase. In other seasons I remember seeing cars in both showcases making both people happy.
