I already knew that that subject was mentioned in the 2009 Game Show Awards.  But, what's your vote?

Definitely the Pyramid one.  It makes you feel like you're in an appropriately tense situation and it's very catchy.  It's so prominent that it doesn't need any music or melody to enhance it.

Bob Stewart didn't do Sale Of The Century and Every Second Counts. Al Howard (1969-73) and Reg Grundy (1983-89) did Sale while Group W did Second.

I think that's why they were mentioned separately from the other Stewart shows. Also, the infamous pilot "Malcolm" used it too---and Heatter produced that....

My favorite is the phone a friend clock from Who Wants to Be A Millionaire

What about the clock music from Countdown? Does that count?

My second choice would have been Scrabble; great for their more precise clock.

I would have also mentioned the tense Wipeout countdown, but as that was more background music than the clock actually ticking down, I would gander that wouldn't techically count.  But I would agree with the majority here that the Pyramid clock was the best; given the circumstances, each tick came with increasingly ominosity the further one got up the pyramid, even without change pitch.

Everything you said... that's what I chose.

my vote would go for Pyramid first, then the Two Mintue Drill from ESPN.  Very similar to the clock on Millionare during the Phone-a-feind.  Third would be the clock on $1million chance of a lifetime.

Definitely Pyramid's "ticking" sound hands down. Not so much in the front game as it is for the winner's circle round. It just adds the element of tension and suspense to the gameplay.

I'd go with the Who Wants to be a Millionaire phone-a-friend clock.

For a true clock tick, I favor the one from the classic Password Lightning Round. It sounds like a clock tick should.

Instrumentally speaking, Pyramid by a mile.

Any ticking that runs faster than 1 per second: 'toast'. That rules out some of the Goodson beeps, which I think were set at 68 per minute. Way too fast.

I voted "Pyramid", but the "Scrabble" Sprint hi-hat deserves mention as well.
