Great wins on Secret X and Card Game. Tough losses on Any Number, Hi Lo, and Pick-a-Number.

Freeze Frame: Shoot. I was thinking 4973. Seems like a trick with the 94 next to the 73.

Any Number: When I saw the riding lawn mower. I had a feeling we're going to play Any Number; and a real daily LFaT would know what numbers to avoid when going for the car. I said "Strike One" when Erik picked the 8. Since he won the $7.34, I knew it had to be the 1, the 6, and the other 2. It was just a manner of where to put them.

"Well, we've played eight games and we still don't have an outright win."

Secret "X": "How can you miss the $10 mop?!?" A win's still a win, though.

Hi-Lo: DVR +VR mode glitch; comes back at the loss.

Pick-a-Number: Since I see designer clothes, go for the highest number. But I think picking 8 is asking for too much; I would've picked 2.

Card Game: My main concern was if, when, and how Shela was going to use the ace. She used it enough for the win.

Showcases: Seemed better than yesterday's Showcases.

Nice to see a bit more banter between Rich and Drew today during the fourth one-bid.

"I swear to God - it's right here in the copy!"

Didn't mention it yesterday, but for the most part I like the new one bid displays, though if it were me, I'd trim the border around them a bit I think.

Freeze Frame: I thought she had it for sure.

Any #: One of the cheaper SUV’s.

Secret “X”: I thought we were going to have our first playing of Pick-a-Number this season myself. Apparently not yet though. Very nice and easy setup, but I can’t believe that he said the mop that has been used for years on the show was $25. Regardless, it got us our first outright win of season 38!

Hi Lo: 64oz. is a lot of peanut butter.

Pick-a-Number: I guess this game waiting to show up fifth. How appropriate that this games first appearance of season 38 comes with the first appearance of the designer crap. I was kind of surprised it was the 2 instead of the 8.

Card Game: It’s been a while since this game showed up last. It was a nice treat though.  :-D

Showcases: FRAT’s and “half a car”. Two days of decent showcases.

Overall, a better show today. I like those Closed Caption bumpers!

I agree.  I don't see why they couldn't have made the windows a little bigger.  The only problem I see is if the bezel of the monitor inside were really thick making that not an option.

Overall, pretty good show today.  Nothing really stood out to me as special but it certainly wasn't bad.

I'm not sure I agree that today's show was better than yesterday's.  Yesterday was disappointing for a premiere, but I think I liked yesterday's show a little more when compared to today.

I had a feeling the peanut butter would be right in Hi Lo.  A normal sized jar is about $2.99, so 3 times normal would be $8.99.  I can understand the contestant going with the wite-out pen though.

Weird that Pick a Number was played for a collection of prizes rather than just one straight thing.  That made it a total crapshoot.

I was expecting Sheila to be a few thousand dollars under, not go over!  I thought Smart Cars were more expensive than that.  She didn't seem phased at all by going over by such a low number.

I found this interesting, if you watch the full episode at CBS.com watch the credits. For some reason it seems like they have removed the production credits that come after Rich's Fremantle plug, however there is still video in that space. Does anyone have a clue as to why they would remove that portion of the credits?

I'm not in the mood to be negative right now, so let's see if I can point out the good parts of this episode (which, amazingly, did exist).

Drew was surprisingly funny at the end of Hi Lo, pretending to build suspense for what was obviously a wrong answer.

The Showcase actually felt like the Showcase, even if the second one ended in a SmartCar that even Drew made fun of.  The scripts made sense and didn't sound childish, which is more than can be said for pretty much any of the ones last season beyond the first couple weeks.

And...well, I've gotta say it:  Drew needs to stop putting any emphasis on the fact that you can hold an ace in Card Game.  Doing it just turns the game into a drawn-out mess.  At least he had enough sense today to tell the contestant that she could just state her final bid.

When did General Mills cereals get so danged cheap?!

Darned if I know.  I'm pretty sure they're $4.79 or something at our store.

EVIL!!!!! EEEEEEEVILLLLLLL!!!!!!!!

Seriously, the first half of this game was set up so evilly. I can only hope they were saving up for an MDS.

MDSs do not run on the same budget as the daytime show.

I found this interesting, if you watch the full episode at CBS.com watch the credits. For some reason it seems like they have removed the production credits that come after Rich's Fremantle plug, however there is still video in that space. Does anyone have a clue as to why they would remove that portion of the credits?

Based on the show I was at near the end of Season 35, I'm pretty sure they've been adding the credits in post for at least two years.  They evidently have just stopped doing that.

Now, why they've stopped, I don't know.

Yep that is banter that happend all the time pre-season 31.  Bob and rod would go back and forth all the time and rod would get the camera time.  It's good to see it again.

Thought that the show was pretty solid today.

*Freeze Frame: I thought she had it but she lost.

*Any Number: Really wanted to see a win here. I wouldn't have won this either (I would have won the mowers).

*Secret X: Can't believe he missed the price of the mop but still nice to see him win. I like wins in which the contestant can only win if the middle x is in one certain spot.

*Hi-Lo: Wow... that peanut butter was killer lol. Even though it was pretty big, that was still pretty expensive.

*Pick-A-Number: Had no clue what the right number was. Not surprising to see the contestant lose this one.

*Card Game: I seen the youtube vid of this so that spoiled things for me. Never understand why people don't use the ace as soon as they get it... when you get the other cards you have to use them and you can't take money away with the ace.

*Showcases: Pretty good but I really can't stand smart cars (remind me of little tikes lol).

Drew's Hosting: 85%

Pricing Game Wins: 34%

Prizes: 80%

Tilt: 85% (Like I said earlier, pretty solid show overall. Nice to see some winners after yesterday's show but still like to see more in one show. Drew was good with all the games. Nothing really unique about today's show... just a typical episode that ran smoothly.)

Final Score for Episode: 7.5 out of 10

I'm sure it's been discussed at great length.  If it has, I missed it.  I don't quite understand the reasoning behind the "hold the ACE" rule.  I don't even know when that rule was implemented (Is it an original rule, Steve??) but it just adds to the confusion.

I agree that Drew should not emphasize too much that you can hold the ACE, but it is a rule of the game, and it's hard to fault Drew for stating it as such - even if he overstates it.  In my opinion, the aces should be wild - period.

If the Aces can't be made a negative value, which is NOT what is implied when they say, "You can make the ace any amount you wish," then drawing an ace should end the game immediately and allow the contestant to place the bid they want.  Better they save time on things like this than by cutting things we like.

Also, anyone notice there are no credits on the online video?  Have they given up the practice completely now?
