This episode is noteworthy because it is an extremely rare occurrence of having no GP game, but let's see what happened today:

TTM: You know, it's hard to win this game. I would've said "That's Too Much!" at $21,962.
1/2 Off: Not an easy SP setup, but my pick on the box would've been... 9.
Most Expensive: I'm glad to see this won. Designer items looked like the most expensive, then I remembered grandfather clocks are expensive.
Balance Game II: Good thing she didn't select the $7,000 bag.
Pocket Change: Even for me, this was a tough setup.
Side By Side: Huzzah! Another win in SbS! :D

-Lineup: I'm setting my foot down - this was bad. -2
-TTM: The usual. 8/10
-Halfy: The usual. 8/10
-ME: Wow, that was odd. 9/10
-SD1: 4/5
-Balance: Also odd to have 7k there. 9/10
-Pocket: Also the usual, sadly. 8/10
-SBS: Easy. 9/10
-SD2: 5/5
-SC1: Not too bad...it was more of a 3-prizer. 4.5/5
-SC2: I liked the audience with the hats, that was good for once. The Drewcase-esque start not so much. General FRATs. 4/5
-Results: Hey, they weren't GOTCs - not too bad bids, and close. 8.5/10
-Drew: 8/10

PGs: 51/60
SDs: 9/10
SCs: 17/20
Drew: 8/10

85 - 2 = 83 --> B
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

TTM: Border-line evil setup.

Half-Off: Those were some tough SP’s. Sandra was a contender for Contestant of the Year IMO.

M.E.: I honestly thought it was the designer crap.  :-?

Balance Game: I was faked-out at the $7k bag.  :-?

Pocket Change: Tough setup (again).

Side-By-Side: Finally, an easy setup.

SC #1: That was a very nice showcase.

SC #2: Back to the Drewcases, complete with Verizon guy.

Meh show today.  :-| Short lineup today as well. I personally would swapped TTM with Dice Game, and Balance Game with Grocery Game.

It is the first time this season to see Honda in the showcase and won.  The 2nd showcase is much more expensive than it is.  Is Hong Kong trip costs more than Singapore?  The showcase that offered Singapore trip on Oct. 2 costs $19K (with bedroom or living room and accessories), while the HK one today costs $31K (It also include Amsterdam at $7K and Cruise at around $10K).  We know that the expensive trips are France, Sweden, Cruise, Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Fiji/Tahiti, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Bali, India, Egypt, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.  Once a showcase has a trip from one of the above, the price would be at least $21K.

1/2 Off:  The prices of a couple of the SPs made me say "Huh!?", but the one that just rubbed me the wrong way was the price of the wine opener.  That thing can't possibly be $88!!  8-O >:(
Most Expensive:  I didn't think Michelle was going to win when I saw the price of the accessories.  Goes to show what I know, I guess!
Pocket Change:  Horrible loss! :-(
Side By Side:  With the two possible choices they had today, the price of the steam shower was pretty obvious to me.  I like the way Linda celebrated, too!
Showcases:  Showcase 2 was pretty neat! :-)

Not too bad a start to the week, IMHO.

That's Too Much!: I was going to stop as soon as the price reached $20K. I would have still lost.

½ Off: That is an expensive wine opener. I would have said (5) as well.

Most Expensive: Even if it was "Fo'Satchy", I still would have picked the good ol' granddaddy clock.

Balance Game: I couldn't see the bags (Maybe I wasn't paying attention), but I had a brief feeling that Wanda thought the bags would balance physically. Still, 4968 to me was good.

Pocket ¢hange: Oh, I thought we might have a good game. Not having 5 in the price killed it again.

Side by Side: Simple. For some reason I thought of Shower Game when Linda went into the steam shower. (Almost a brief strip....)
(Loved the "Stop asking" comment because it makes perfect sense.)

Showcases: [loud, annoyed groan] at The Verizon Guy.

I really wish they'd just left well enough alone with the opening.  The introduction sounds almost like a formality with "It's The Price Is Right!" instead of "Television's most exciting hour" and so forth, and the camera spends so little time focusing on some of the contestants that it's practically a joke.  I'm sure it opens up a few seconds during the body of the show, but the way it kills the excitement of those crucial first moments just isn't worth it.

That's Too Much! was a bad first game last year, it's a bad first game this year, and it's going to be a bad first game for the remainder of eternity.  It should never open the show again.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a grandfather clock in Most Expensive.  It seems like they've shied away from offering those lately.

I wonder if Balance Game was a substitution...it was played for a bedroom, and there was no grocery item game.

What the hell is Crutchfield? :?

I'd forgotten that they'd gotten the Verizon Guy in to help with a showcase.  It was surprisingly good, complete with the third trip that so many other showcases lately have felt like they were missing...but seriously, if they're going to keep having these guests on, they've got to find some who actually know how to read showcase copy.

First off, I've never seen a TPIR contestant that lives as close to me as Sandra does! Laurinburg is only about 30 minutes away from here, so there was no doubt that I would be rooting for her, but even so...

...how could you not root for Sandra? She is exactly what you want to see in a TPIR contestant. Stan's got to love it when his job is made easy. :-)

Verizon Wireless guy = win. I miss his classic line, though... "Can you hear me now? Good!"

BEST CONTESTANT OF THE DAY: Sandra, a definite Contestant of the Season candidate
SHOW GRADE: 2

I was pleasantly surprised to see a grandfather clock in Most Expensive.  It seems like they've shied away from offering those lately.
Drew put grandfather clocks down in a recent interview, so that would explain why.

That's Too Much! is a terrible game with which to start a show.

Sandra must have a little Samoan in her or something. :-D

The SPs in Half-Off were just evil.  $100 for a webcam?!  $88 for a corkscrew?!  Sandra got screwed big time.

Nearly everybody in the chatroom got sent to the Sin Bin® for premature forking in Most Expensive.  We all initially thought the clock would be the most expensive... but then the Versace crap was revealed to be $3,815 and we thought it was game over.

What a wide range of possible prices in Balance Game today.  $4,968, $8,968, or $10,968?  Hmmmm... Ashley bedroom.  Gee, I wonder what the right price could be? ;)

Once again, Pocket Change is made frustrating by the seemingly permanent bogus 5.

For the second time in the past week, there was no GP game.  Considering how we had another boring lineup today, we probably could've used a GP game.  I would've replaced Pocky with Hole in One in a heartbeat.

My showcase bids:
Car--$33,507
Trips--$18,807 ( :gotc: )
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Today's show was just not good at all. Typical impossible TTM, typical hard 1/2 Off SPs, typical Pocket Change with a seemingly permanent bogus 5, seen them all lost 10 times the same way, blah. And a totally awful lineup. Did we really make it this short just to make time for the Drewcase/Verizon guy? Look at the total gameplay time below today - 24:05, and then consider that the extra long bumper at the end of Side By Side is factored into that and we really only had 23 1/2 minutes of game time today which is just bad. Speaking of Side By Side, the celebration at the end of that (although it looked somewhat like Drew prompted her to do that, it was still cool and seemed spontaneous enough) and Sandra (though she got stuck with a brutal 1/2 Off) redeemed this show. We even had a Season 37-style Drewcase, although once the showcase was passed off to the Verizon guy its writing improved. Just blah. Why did we play Balance Game instead of a GP for a room of furniture? Not enough time? *Sigh*. Also Steve already said this, but as many people need to say it as possible: TTM should never be first, ever.

Yeah, so I hate to be a downer, but today was just not good. The good news is it will probably be better tomorrow.

Timings:
That's Too Much! (5)- 3:18
1/2 Off (5.5) - 5:45
Most Expensive (3.5) - 3:10
Balance Game (4) - 3:29
Pocket Change (5) - 5:01
Side By Side (3.5)- 3:22
Total time (26.5): 24:05
