(And since there is a new episode scheduled for 12/31, I assume they will be busy with some extra-special New Year's Eve showcase, as it would have made more sense to have the NHL showcase on the day before the event.
The show previously advertised on its website that the New Years show would be a "Best of 2009" show, featuring everybody's favorite prizes from this past year.

MOD NOTE: CBS Press released a note confirming that to the world just yesterday. CLICK HERE.- JC

Yeah Mike Richards, that's a real appealing showcase to us non-hockey fans. Seriously, does he even take these things into consideration before he secures stuff like that?  :-?
Just like a themeless showcase involving golf clubs, a faux-antique jukebox, and a GEM car appeals to anybody...

Well, today felt super rushed to me, and then I went to do the timings and found out that sure enough, it was super rushed. Between the 7 1/2 minutes of wheel spinning and the long showcases, we had to rush through even our shorter than usual lineup (as you will see below). What's odd is I didn't actually see any edits but there must have been a couple quick ones involved, or else Drew just flew through One Away, TTM, Now or Then, etc...I mean look at the times below. This is why it's not a good idea to have long special guest showcases on any kind of a regular basis. 3 in 4 days is excessive, it takes the "special" out of "special" guests. Although I'll point out today's wasn't bad for what it was.

However, the rushed feeling was the biggest problem with the show today (apart from TTM being 9th again). The entire One Away segment was great (great interaction by Drew and a great contestant), we had some interesting showcase showdowns, and Plinko, even though he was unlucky, felt so nice to have someone win 5 chips for the first time in ages. ("Roger, when was the last time someone won all 5 chips in Plinko? "Uh, probably back when I was still setting up Plinko"). Drew did another solid job of hosting, and today really felt like a good episode of TPIR despite the only 1 win. I will agree with others who said that it may not be appropriate to have a Honda day during Christmas week, mostly because there's no such thing as a luxury Honda, really! I can't wait for tomorrow...I have a good feeling about what they will deliver for Christmas Eve.

Timings:
Double Prices (3) - 2:19 (short!!)
One Away (5) - 5:01
Now...or Then (5) - 3:58 (short!)
Most Expensive (3.5) - 3:08
Plinko (5.5) - 4:47
That's Too Much! (5) - 3:00 (short!!)
Total time (27): 23:13

I was curious about Rich's description of the "Friendly Snowman" in the Plinko prizes.

What other kinds of snowmen are there? Will we have a flesh eating cannibalistic snowman tomorrow?

Honda days don't belong on Christmas week.
Why not?

It's official: That's Too Much has become "Pick the 9th One", like sideshowPA said. How can one game become so predicatble?

Someone needs to buy the TPIR staff a 10 sided die, and each time That's Too Much is played, they need to roll the die, and the number that comes up is where they set the winning price.

Then, they can play Dungeons and Dragons. But still, it would solve the "That's The 9th Price!" problem.
