Well, Steve, then why do you watch?

I've put more effort into the show in the last seven or eight years than some of the people who actually work there.  I feel like I need to see it through to the end.

Stupid doesn't even begin to describe the Hi Lo segment today, imo, Steve. I think childish/sophomoric/moronic might be better descriptions for this segment today.

EPT, so you're saying you are one of those people that in no way ever turns his head towards the train wreck?
.
Some of us, and only God knows why, holds out hope that things won't be this bad forever.  Some of us watch hoping to find that one contestant who lives the dream and you can see that dream played out on the show.  And it's days lilke today that make us hurt inside.

The last thing we want to hear from people who don't understand that is what you told Steve and others like him.  I assure you that he is probably more of a fan that I, and probably you.

If Drew is indeed bored and tired of it already, I wish he would ask for an out.

I was out on an errand today, so I didn't catch the show until the Switch? snafu, but I heard that Drew did something in Hi Lo, so I went to CBS.com to watch the clip.  All I can say is, that was random and inappropriate for the show.  Out of nowhere, Drew just grabs the yogurt, tears away at the Butterfinger, and manhandles the garlic bread and rice boxes. The way he just let the yogurt spill on the Hi Lo prop really reeked of that God-awful pie in the face showcase from last season.  I hope that this is a momentary aberration and Drew has his act together from now on.

Kev and I are chatting as I type this and this show and yesterday's were taped on the same day.  Drew seemed much more sedate on yesterday's show and today, with his antics, it makes him seem like he ate a lot of sugar or something and made him hyperactive today.

...actually, my favorite seasons of a lot of old TV Shows are the final, trainwreck seasons. You know, like season 4 of Welcome Back, Kotter without Kotter, or the Facts of Life without Mrs. Garrett.

But I'm not making a good case for my side, am I?

I still say, though, no matter how big a fan someone is of something, when it stops being fun to watch, or read, or listen to, or whatever, when it becomes a chore, why bother?

But, I understand loyalty, and Homer Simpson watching his pig fly through the air screaming "It's still good, it's still good", so to each his own. I was just curious as to why so many kept watching something they hated, and I got some understandable answers.

That's it.

:-x  Well...once again (this is the 3rd time since 10/09) I missed the show offering a Disney park trip and I'm disgusted cause my channel 2 in LA don't come in at all/no signal!  I want to know if there a clip of the game show or an image of the graphic?!   Is there a way anyone can give me heads up on whenever a certain prize, trip, or game that will be shown on TV?!

;)  I don't know.... overall fair show today....

but you know, sometimes a person can have a bad day at work or in this case on the show today...   Everyone has one every now & then...  Just a thought...    ;)

To me, having a bad day would be to fumble the rules for a pricing game or going to the turntable instead of the big doors for a pricing game.

I only watched the clips of Hi-Lo and Switch? on YouTube so I can't speak of the rest of the show, but purposely fumbling around with the grocery products (some are sponsors) to the degree where you can't tell what kind of product it is anymore just is assinine. I'm sure the sponsors of those products wouldn't be happy seeing their item getting destroyed on camera for no apparent reason.

I felt bad for Grant because this is one of the times where Drew makes it more about himself than the contestant and that's where the show falls apart for me. If Drew is better at a first taping over the second, than they might want to consider having Drew tape one show a day. He may just get punchy between tapings and that could be good, but it doesn't seem to be working. It makes the show look crappy when the host can't respect the sponsors/products that are on the show. A joke here and there is fine, but today Drew went overboard.

Well, looks like there's some hope that Drew won't subject any more GPs to torture after today's fiasco.  Personally, I'm just hoping I don't hear any more of that horrendous music cue that accompanied it.

Amber's Switch? blooper was clearly the highlight of an otherwise forgettable show today.  It was spontaneous, genuinely funny, and reminiscent of Holly's glory days.

Count me in as one who thinks today's show was in the Top 5 worst ever.

Starting the show off with Pick a Number is one of the most boring things ever.  Starting the show off with Pick a Number and completely "forcing" a loss is above and beyond anything comprehensible.   How does one know the price the show has chosen as "correct" when even the show doesn't even know what prize has been chosen?

Pathfinder was incredibly mean; having 0's and 5's which were incorrect while the correct price didn't make one of the usual patterns on the board that it usually does.  I don't even have anything to say about the prices of the little prizes.

Hi Lo was an utter disaster.  Drew is the most unprofessional host ever.  I don't care if it's intended to be amusing.  A contestant is trying for their once in a lifetime experience on a game show to win a prize, and he's doing his best to distract everyone with his antics.

Switch's issue is debatable.  Did Drew make the right decision?  I say not, because he forced the contestant to pay taxes on a $2,800 limo trip 30 minutes down the I-5!

These shows are just no longer fun.

They can always decline to accept the prize.

There is absolutely no reason why Switch should have been a technical win. Alexandra was headed for a loss no matter what.

BEST CONTESTANT OF THE DAY: Julian
SHOW GRADE: 2

And...um...well, Alexandra was pretty.  I guess that was good.
Agreed... but obviously, I discuss that more in another thread.

Even though it's in the above post, This bears repeating...

There is absolutely no reason why Switch should have been a technical win. Alexandra was headed for a loss no matter what.

AMEN, BROTHER!

Amber committed a goof, but the key to me is that it came after it was established on the record  that the contestant wanted the prices switched, and SWITCH? is an either/or game. Though protocol got messed up, this playing should have gone down as an outright loss. And No, even though it is allowed sometimes, I don't believe the player is entitled to a change of mind.

UPDATE: This from the lady herself via twitter in response to someone else's query: "The crowd gets so loud in there sometimes, I thought @tpirhost (Drew) was saying "flip!!" instead of "switch!!"... oops"

We still love ya, Amber.

Oh, and Drew, enough. No more manhandling the merchandise. The committee is right.

Yes. Check our video forum. I'm almost certain today's featured clip is there in all its glory.

Not here. Even if we knew, that falls into the category of "Spoiler." This is a "Spoiler-Free Zone."

I really think that a logical explanation for the technical win in Switch? is the fact that she could have quickly changed her mind. I have DEFINITELY seen it before where the models have walked the prices over to the other positions, only to have the contestant ask to have them switched back, and it was allowed (they even played the music again). While it's unlikely, it's still possible.
