I find it ironic how the show tries to mix up the prizes and offer "cool" things like over-stuffed trips and impossible to price items to make the show less "predictable." Yet, the same things happen every single time a show airs. For example, That's too Ninth, uh, I mean, That's Too Much's correct price is ninth (or second...or ninth...or second...). Someone wins fewer than 3 punches on the Punchboard, a really mean Lucky Seven price, people bidding far less than what the showcases are worth, fewer than half the games are won on a single episode, etc.(I could continue, but you get the idea...) So, as it turns out, the show really is predictable now!

However, on the bright side, at least today's show wasn't yesterday's show!  :P

Nice two wins back to back to start off, but unfortunately, it went downhill from there. Let's hope things turn around soon.
The show really is predictable now!
And it wasn't predictable when Bob was hosting?

You missed my entire point. That's exactly what I was talking about. In an effort to change what the new regime felt was "predictable," they ended up making the show more predictable than it ever has been.

The numbers in the Lucky Seven price were a total of 13 away from the old frequently-used strategy that "5's across the board wins." If she'd called 5's as her first two choices, she would have lost right there.

EDIT to add: No different result than with the choices she did make.

My gosh this statement could not be more factually accurate.  +1 to you for stating this.  At least the lineups have stopped getting as predictable....

If I ever show up on TPIR and play That's Either the Second or Ninth Price, I'm telling Drew to reveal the first, then instantly either go to the second or ninth and saying THAT'S TOO MUCH! without looking at any other price in between.

Showcase One had a good collection of prizes, but man was that script disjointed.

The first showcase's script had something going for it, compared to that fustercluck of a sushi-themed showcase from a couple of days ago, 28.   Let's see what I can do for a rewrite:

Quote
This showcase contains prizes revealed as Rachel and Gwendolyn try to reach Rancho Cucamonga!  Unfortunately, they missed their plane ride to there, so Rachel goes around and commandeers your first prize, this off-road vehicle!

(Insert ATV plug)

Unfortunately, the ATV wasn't versatile enough to handle the rough terrain and they missed a train ride there, so Gwendolyn goes out and buys your second prize for Rachel and her, these new off-road motorcycles!

(Insert motorcycle plug)

Finally, Rachel and Gwendolyn are desperate to reach Rancho Cucamonga in such a quick fashion, the motorcycles and a normal automobile won't do to handle the rough terrain to there quickly, so they will travel in this new truck!

(Insert truck plug)

And this showcase where Rachel and Gwendolyn go through Off road vehicles, motorcycles, and trucks, can be yours if the price is right!

*sigh*
So, we have plenty of money to offer a $45,000 showcase, but we can't have anymore than 2 pricing games won. Although, I think Take Two could have easily be won. It seemed kinda easy to me.

To think, no GP game and no Amber (probably due to the leave she is taking). How ironic.

So, as it turns out, the show really is predictable now!

The irony.

And it wasn't predictable when Bob was hosting?

Of course it was predictable. That was back in the day when it paid off to be a LFaT, and Bob and Roger knew that.

I don’t even think this new regime of Mike and Drew even want the fans to be able to reasonably price something. If that is the case, then it really is a shame. It just sucks all the fun out of this great American institution.  :-(

I find it ironic how the show tries to mix up the prizes and offer "cool" things like over-stuffed trips and impossible to price items to make the show less "predictable." Yet, the same things happen every single time a show airs.

I think that Carlos earned himself a spot in my sig. (Not that he'll really care or anything. ;))

While I will agree that Lucky 7 was set up to be lost, the second digit should not have cost more than $1.  These days, if the first digit is a 1, you can almost bet the next digit will be a 7, 8, or 9 - so that should have been a free (or nearly free) guess.

Was anyone else bothered by Drew's comment to Tyler?  "What's your life story? Nevermind, we don't have time?"  You know, I've never been one to bash Drew, but that was just wrong.  Make fun of the products?  No problem.  Manhandle the grocery items?  Uh - okay.  Still no huge problem.  Insult the contestants?  BIG PROBLEM.  I just thought that was not cool.

Finally - one thought on That's Too Much!  Maybe (just maybe) Kathy is trying to establish a new "unwritten rule" for that game to make it easier to win.  Without coming right out and saying it, maybe the intention is to have the players eventually learn that it will be 2nd or 9th every time.
(Please note: I'm just offering a possible theory as to why the correct price is always 2nd or 9th.)

The problem is people are attracted to the middle by nature - they don't have the guts to pass by to 9th and often think 2nd must be too cheap.

Whoo hoo Take Two!!! Take Two= :-D  Still gotta wonder were Credit Card is though.

I think i'll give That's Too Much a new name: That's Too Unfair. These setups we've seen the last several months have just been bizzarre/unfair. The game is a great game but these setups have just been cruel. It seems the correct stopping point has either been 2nd or 9th the last million times this game has been played. Why can't they just mix things up a bit like Roger did, y'know, make the stopping point somewhere in the middle?

I'm surprised they haven't made the 1st price as the correct stopping point. I sure wouldn't put it past them.

All I will say about the Bonkers playing is Jonna got lucky. There should be an unwritten rule (or a written one for that matter) that lookers/dawdlers should never be allowed to win Bonkers.  :D I'm joking of course.

The worst setup of One Right Price is still 50/50 if you're blindfolded; I thought this one was fairly obvious and so did she. Bonkers was nothing short of a miracle win since she spent half the time changing her first guess to her second, but honestly if she'd lost it would have been more her poor playing strategy than a bad setup.

But then the problems started. $18,139 is just an evil price for Lucky 7. 4 wasn't a smart first guess, but even if she'd gotten that exactly, having a 1 and a 9 is begging for a loss.

Take Two is a tough game. He had lousy luck; it could have been played better and setup better, but it wasn't particularly evil.

Winning or losing Punch-A-Bunch is like Plinko in that it's total chance. But I only got two SPs and I can see people wiping out on them easily. The odds are stacked against you winning that much money in this game anyway, why not make the SPs easier so at least there's some game play and suspense? Plenty of players have gotten all four SPs and won $50 or $100.

That's Number Nine! struck again.

So, out of six games, both car games had downright ugly setups. The cash game which is seldom won anyway was almost guaranteed a loss, though of course you CAN win the top amount with one punch, so I really don't understand the whole deal with that.
