Between the Secret X placement and Nancy's terrible bidding there were some real novices on today's show.  I thought it interesting that Clyde took the safe route in Pass the Buck but then took that chancy second spin when he had 50.  Well played.  I was stunned his showcase was so much though.  Too bad.

I thought Danger Price was really tricky today.  I want to know where they got that much Le Creuset for $800.  A Le Creuset dutch oven alone is around $300.
I apologise in advance.

Willy bought up a very good point in chat, was there anybody screaming off stage for Drew to step in and inform Ann that she wouldn't have a chance of winning if she placed the first earned X in the lower right hand corner?  He said that Bob would never allow that or make a point to say that it would be impossible to win if she put the X there and if she missed the second small prize.

Flip Flop was quite bizarre with the prize reveal, although I loved the head-on shot of the prop, and what sane person would think that a bracelet could cost over $6,000?

Great to see Safe Crackers and Danger Price show up today, and at least Safe Crackers was set up for a win.

We got an rare educational moment on the show today when Drew said Clyde's name was exactly the same as the eponymous person of Bonnie & Clyde.

Secret X:  Finally, a win!
Danger Price:  I thought for sure the camera was not the prize with the danger price!
Pass The Buck:  Good thing Clyde walked! :-)

Definitely better than the last 2 shows, IMHO.

I think Drew should change the way he explains the game. It's not quite like Tic-Tac-Toe, where a person can win by getting 3 Xs or Os in any direction. Bob said something like this: "Your job is to get 3 Xs across there, across there, or across there, or, diagonally there or diagonally there."
Also, weren't there some major edits during this game? It looked like it to me.

I especially like Pass the Buck when it's played like it was today, with 3 number choices and decisions to make after both the first and second choices (take what you have and walk or choose another number). Great dramatic feel.

We are hardly hearing any of the classic or even pre-1994 cues these days, are we? Stan could at least mix them up more.

I will urge you to read this thread before you mention this particular topic.  While I agree with you 100%, Stan seems to have given his official word on the matter (which sounds suspiciously like "the company line" to me but that's neither here nor there).

Well, today was a little better with two wins, and a Secret X win for the first time in what seems like ages.

Willy also bought this up, if she did miss the second small prize and lost the game by default, he said they would have given her the prize, but I have to disagree.  As far as I'm concerned, there is nowhere in the rules that prevents a contestant from making moves that would make the game near-impossible to win.  If she placed the X in a very bad position and lost, that's really not Drew's problem.  I liken it to someone going on in Pass the Buck after the car is picked, and losing.

I watched the first two games today (yay!) and have to comment about Secret X...as I was watching, I thought for sure she was going to put her 3rd X in the right-middle position for a vertical tic-tac-toe.  Drew never explained that you can't do that, and I was curious to see how the show would handle it.  It wouldn't surprise me if that happened during the taping and they stopped tape to explain that to her.

Thanks for the link. I did read a bit, including Stan's statement. I guess he's quite a bit less nostalgic than a lot of us here. Perhaps.

I believe they should have given her the prize, because of what was Drew's problem:  he explained the game badly.  He barely touched upon the secret X, and gave no indication that you needed to use the middle column to win in his explanation of the rules.  He just said that Ann needed to get three in a row, giving no indication that she needed to get three in a row with the secret X.  If Drew had explained the rules properly, I'd agree with you, but as it was, I believe a technical win would've been warranted.

Maybe someone can prove me wrong, but I can't remember a single instance where Bob didn't make it clear that you needed to use the secret X to win.

Hey, we had a win (2 of 'em!) today. I almost forgot what those looked like.

I am soooooooo tired of these TTM setups. It's pretty clear they have no clue as to how to fairly set this game up. This is like the umpteenth billion time the correct stopping price has been in the 2nd slot or the 9th slot. Someone needs to get a clue as to how to set this game up more fairly, it's tough enough as it is, but with the way they're setting it up they have made it almost impossible to win.

Well, the plus side - we had two wins. The minus side - um, I can't believe no one in the studio caught Secret X. Also, that presentation for Flip Flop was absolutely atrocious. I think that goes against one of Roger's rule - that whole playing a turntable quickie for a bracelet just makes the show look really cheap, especially when it's a guy playing for it. That just looked unbelievably stupid.

TTM has now been in the 2nd or 9th slot the past 10 playings in a row. It was lost all 10 times. Thankfully, the secret X returned to the middle today after 4 playings in a row at the bottom.

I can't believe Safe Crackers (for a relatively expensive hot tub, too!) was as much of a cakewalk as it was after all the forced losses we've seen this week. Nice to see the win, but someone really doesn't know to handle the budget.

Timings:
Flip Flop (3.5) - 2:53
That's Too Much! (5) - 3:24
Secret X (4.5) - 4:15
Danger Price (4.5) - 4:12
Pass The Buck (5.5) - 5:40
Safe Crackers (4.5) - 4:33
Total time (27.5): 24:57

First, Double Prices for a watch.  Now Flip Flop played for a lovely bracelet (by a MAN no less).  What's next--Freeze Frame for a pair of shoes?

And does anyone know what the deal is with Rich's little prize spiels, like today's "Well, you've got the GPS, now how about this new CAHHHHHH"?  Whatever happened to just plain ol' "It's a new CARRRRR!"
