It seems to me that winless shows have become more frequent since Roger was canned. On the plus side, Anthony made an excellent bid on his showcase.

Today's skunking was not entirely caused by Greco - there were poor choices in 5PT and Grocery in particular. I am betting thought the F-150 was 23129 - completely unwarranted
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

Five skunkings in only half a season.  (looks over at The Dob)  "Roger, when was the last time we had this happen this many times in so little time?"

Roger mouths "Never."

GRECO!  Stop it with That's Too Much in spots 2 and 9!  Stop it with Lucky $even prices that have ones and twos and nines galore!  We need threes, fives, and sixes too!
Bazinga!

Well,, a skunking is a perfect way to end an awful show consisting of an awful lineup. Yeah, 5PT and L7 was in the lineup, but really did we have to have Freeze, OWP AND Balance all in the same show?I don't think so.  Perhaps the coup de grace was the MEAN (yet again) setup in Lucky Seven--a 1? and anyone wanna bet that last digit was a 9? They might as well call it "Un-Lucky Seven" because this game ain't gonna be won with the ridiculously impossible setups we've seen.

I want to conclude by once again saying thanks. Thank you all once again for giving us yet another spectacularly, sublimely awful show.

I take it that the items in Grocery Game had (for the most part) a moooooo-ving theme. Shouldn't have gone with the ice cream cones for the win — four would have still been over at $21.16, and three would not have done it. Perhaps contestants should get the hint that one should NEVER pick a single grocery item at the outset and go for the immediate win.

-------------------

OK, maybe some of us need to become contestants on TPiR and — if we're so lucky to become contestants — call Fingers out during a taping about the recent Lucky $even and That's Too Much! trend. Yeah, I doubt that they'll let it pass, but it sure beats complaining.

--------------------

The problem with the argument over the skunkings is that not all of these games were set for losses. Yeah, one could say that, for instance, 5 Price Tags had tricky prices ... but even getting one right the contestant could still have chosen the right answer. A Huyndai Elantra isn't that expensive of a car, so either $17,000 or $19,000 was probably going to be correct.

Most of us should know by now that hot tubs on game shows are more expensive than the store. The contestant probably had seen advertisements on TV that showed a $4,500 hot tub (a nice one at that), so that was a reasonable guess.

And I could go on. The point was, there was no reason to think that this show — or any, for that matter — was set to be a "skunker." Lucky $even aside, all of the other games, based on Joe's recap, seemed pretty winnable. The contestants tried hard, but things just didn't work out. Let's hope for a better outcome tomorrow.

-------------------

The only thing that would have really made a really good Beatles Showcase fantastic were: 1. the "Guitar Hero: The Beatles" (I think that's the name of the game) video game; 2. A home theatre prize package with DVDs of The Beatles movies (assuming they are available on DVD); 3. SURPRISE APPEARANCES BY EITHER PAUL OR RINGO ... or both, assuming one or both accept. Yeah, I've fallen for the gimmick scenario, but hey, if you wanna do it right, take my advice and do it this a-way.

Note I didn't include a TouchTunes jukebox. TouchTunes (an Internet-type jukebox with more than a million songs in the catalog, all on a centralized computer) don't have the rights to The Beatles catalog, although their solo recordings are included, so maybe a regular CD jukebox would have been substituted for the iPod if I had been in charge, but that's just me.

What do ya know another skunking and it's #93 only 7 more til we reach 100 perhaps the 100th one will have the next el skunko with double overbid well hopefully not and grocery game was awful. 2 easy setups and i liked how drew mentioned the contestant needing to win a showcase due to skunking.
pepe! It took us all summer to clean out all the skunk stink from seasons 36, 37, 38, 39, and 40!!!

I might have had split-second visions of a DSW if I hadn't been able to see the price before Drew read it.

I completely agree with Briguy's posts. Only 1 forced loss today - L7. Everything else ranged from crapshoots to somewhat bad gameplay to REALLY bad gameplay (Grocery). Hey, it happens sometimes, but unfortunately it's happening more and more.

I will say this - for once Drew actually made today's show MORE watchable (which is his job on days like today!). He had lots of time to kill today for once due to quick losses, and he used most of it in interesting ways, conversing with the models briefly (which was really cool to get to hear them speak) and that amusing conversation with Scott in Grocery Game, and also berating the contestant like Bob would have done after the Grocery Game loss. While skunks aren't ever fun, today was the most fun I've ever had watching a skunk. I also like how he finally acknowledged the skunk before the showcase. I wish that he would continue to do that, and start doing it when we're 0/5 as well to build up suspense on whether we can finally get a win today. I wish he would have spent a bit more time conversing with contestants too, but he used most of his time well.

Timings:
5 Price Tags (5.5) - 4:50
Freeze Frame (4) - 3:05
One Wrong Price (3.5) - 3:23
Grocery Game (5) - 5:24
Lucky $even (4.5) - 4:26
Balance Game (4) - 3:57
Total (26.5): 25:07

Kathy, please DON'T stop putting the prices 2nd and 9th in TTM. You're clearly trying to establish a winnable rule for an otherwise difficult game (1 in 10 chance to win a car), just like Ten Chances, so let your audience catch up to the trend.

Oh wait, that's right, the audience doesn't even get the friggin 0 rule in Ten Chances that has been established for DECADES.

Agree. Drew also made a comment after the sixth IUFB overbid. "It's like the end of a movie, when everyone learns a lesson."

I admit I thought Drew was funny when he kept saying "Wasn't that exciting?" after Caitlin's GG wipeout. I was in a silly frame of mind, I guess.  :D
