The contestants in [yesterday's] show just had no common pricing sense. Sense that says that a carafe is more than $17, and more than the two prizes before it. That if you look around and consider your options, $7,998 sounds like a good price for a pair of prizes. That $17,379 sounds a whole lot better than $17,559 and $15,579 (or that cars just aren't really $15k anymore).

But I've come to expect very little from contestants nowadays. I feel that if I went to the show, I'd have to pretend to be a nit-wit to have any chance of being picked (unless I happen to be the Elaine of the day, because she was an awesome contestant. Once she got to $13.98 I started yelling, "Two juices! Two juices!"). It doesn't help that the audience has no idea what it's talking about anymore either... they cheered when Giovanni changed the car to $15k.

I just remembered there were a couple of weird edits today that I wanted to point out...part of Doyle's first spin was cut out, and one of the shots of Drew during the fifth One-Bid seemed to have been spliced in from the fourth One-Bid (unless they just randomly changed the color of the Turntable wall).

And this obviously has nothing to do with the show itself, but there was a commercial during it that I'm really getting sick of.  For cripe's sake, MANWICHES AREN'T FREAKING VEGETABLES!

ME TOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Been driving me crazy for months actually. Maybe that's part of the problem today if kids think that Manwich = veggies....but I digress.

Anyway, it was only 1 out of 6 but it wasn't a terrible show. It's too bad Giovanni had no idea what he was doing because he was funny. My friend and I were both hoping he'd get on stage all show. Too bad it didn't end up better when he did.

American Apparel got such a nice plug, they had to have paid for that placement. Finally, a company realizes that college kids watch and love TPIR, even if dorm rooms and student centers aren't reflected in the Nielsens.

Obviously Drew has been making a bunch of changes (some misguided, of course) to make the show hipper. If advertisers like American Apparel follow, the show may have a future yet.

(Did anyone but me chuckle at the description of the prunes as "dried plums?"  Come on, it's a prune.)

This is part of the prune growers' marketing to rebrand prunes as something that's not just for old constipated people. Thinking of them as dried plums makes them more appealing, just as raisins are dried grapes.

That's another one that bothers me, with the woman gleefully exclaiming, "The kids'll think they're eatin' candy!"  Good Lord, lady, have you thought through what'll happen if your kids decide prunes are candy and start gobbling them down?!

This is why I'm glad I have a DVR and can skip through the commercials. :P

I liked the way the doors were shown closing after Kerri missed the price of the car by too much in Card Game. Nice "goodbye" effect.

And, speaking of Kerri, I know she was nervous but I couldn't help laughing at her $2,900 showcase bid.  :oldlol:

Oh, I forgot about that!  That was pretty neat.
