Joe pretty much aced what we all have to say on Roo & Cover already, but to be fair most contestants aren't going to know Cover's rules in advance and will try to get it all right. These playings just happen and based on her choices for the last number she played relatively well, I think. (And yes, some contestants don't find repeat numbers wrong.) I don't even want to discuss Roo again, it's already giving me shivers...

With a bit of a better Rangey and giveaway Roo & Safey, along with a decent ME and NoT, Greco really laid off today. We should have managed at least 3 if not 4 wins today.

However, I felt like the biggest issue today was in the showcases...and no, it wasn't Connor - that appearance was OK (I felt though he was on too long at the beginning, but he didn't impede anything). Why IN THE WORLD was the exact same showcase from April 8th, 2009 repeated? I look now and the options are slightly different on "the real thing", but the ARPs still differed by only $310, which can be FULLY accounted for inflation and/or a slight option change (as Kev told me, possibly by Greco to raise the ARP out of easy DSW range, which she needed today). There is just NO reason to blatantly re-use a showcase like that, and I thought with this Terry thing raising a red flag they were trying hard to mix things up. I know it's been 11 months but I'm pretty sure the DOB never used the exact same prizes like that, ever.

After seeing today's show, a coworker approached me and wanted to know, "When did they start letting yupsters on the show???"  I don't know if he watches the show regularly but the fact that he asked me that says something.  I just explained the show's vaunted "new direction" and their desire to reach out to the younger demographic.

That outdoor kitchen and dining group is one of the niftier prizes I've seen them give away.  There's that and a collection of outdoor furniture that I've seen a few times.  Kudos to whoever decided to start offering things like that as prizes!

SC1:  "Mini Cooper" theme = one of the best non-theme-show SC1s of the season
SC2:  a showcase that's 2/3 trips just never really does anything for me, even if it ends with a *nice* sport boat.  Sorry, but I was happy today's SC1 was won.
Bazinga!

With the opening...a tad "family feud"-ish ala John O'Hurley and his son and when the guy flopped to the floor on switch...and came close to conking Drew's stepson...i cringed...did anyone else?

Well, that's one of the nicest things about TPiR — it's a cross-section of the demographics. We've seen college kids, retirees, military officers and housewives compete on this show. Kinda nice to get a yuppie or two once in awhile. I read somewhere once — possibly, it was Jefferson Graham's "The Game Show Book" — where someone talked about just that and said that was TPiR's greatest appeal: seeing an average, everyday American compete on the show.

That outdoor kitchen and dining group is one of the niftier prizes I've seen them give away.  There's that and a collection of outdoor furniture that I've seen a few times.  Kudos to whoever decided to start offering things like that as prizes! ...

I know I've defended some of the prizes on these threads that others don't exactly like. But even though there's definitely nothing wrong with an all-trips showcase (or two-thirds as today; they've given away showcases like this for many, many years), I definitely would have rooted more for Chirmera to win. Just me, I guess.

I thought it was humourous Connor felt the need to get an up close look at the first one bid. I kinda wished the camera had pulled back a bit, rather than Drew pulling him outta the way. He was obviously fascinated with the way things work.

Switcheroo:  Even though Dustin played it terribly, that was still heartbreaking that he had the car right & changed it.
Now Or Then:  That's how you do it! :-)
Safe Crackers:  Easy setup, but still a nice win! :-)
Cover Up:  If only Linda would've had one more chance!
Showcase:  I thought for sure Chirmera had won both showcases when Drew started to read the ARP, but a fantastic bid nonetheless! :-)

Pretty good overall, IMHO.

I like having Connor on the show occasionally. I think today's entrance is a good example of what works - when there's an entrance like that only occasionally and not all the time, it can be interesting. I also really enjoyed his appearance during the showcase. That said, they should have gotten him out of the way shortly after the first one bid presentation and the fact he hung around awkwardly and even climbed all the way up to the turntable suggests that no one really planned that out properly.

Well, I predicted last night Switcheroo would show today, and now I wish it hadn't. That was a miserable playing, but again I don't fault players in this game so much, because it's very difficult to play in real time. -55 should be a definite no, though. Then thinking the power tools are the most expensive trap=ugh. Please. Why do people continue to fall for that? I knew that the necklace was most expensive and simply because there was a guy on stage, it would not be won.

Enjoyed the lineup today, good mix of games, reasonable slotting, etc. Would have switched Range and Safe though.

Timings:
Switcheroo (5.5) - 5:25
Most Expensive (3.5)- 3:09
Now...or Then (5) - 4:13
Safe Crackers (4.5) - 4:04
Cover Up (5) - 3:55
Range Game (4) - 3:51
Total (27.5): 25:37

Drew didn't seem nearly as out of control today as he usually does...and as a result, the show was much easier to watch than it usually is.

I don't mind Drew having some fun with his son every once in a while, but he probably should have been taken offstage during the first Item up for Bids.

I have to give them credit for putting something besides a video screen on #2 in Most Expen$ive, even if it wasn't the actual prize.  It came out looking decent.

For what it's worth, if I'd been in the same position as Linda after the first turn in Cover Up, I'd have won.

Speaking of Cover Up, I really love having its normal music back.  I never realized how well it fit the game until it was gone.

It's been nice seeing trips get back into the pricing games the last couple of days.

I hope somebody on the staff had a word with Nicholas after he almost knocked down Range Game.

Drew did a great, even Barker-esque reveal on the second showcase.  It's too bad anyone looking at the screen could see the price. :P

Usually, when a contestant has a car won and loses it, I feel bad for that player. But given Dustin's slowness and indecisiveness playing Switcheroo, maybe it's best he not be on the road in that Equinox

Dustin got what he deserved for not having any independent thought.

And I didn't feel sorry for Sarah at all after her ridiculous one-bids. She seemed completely clueless the whole time she was in contestant's row.

Aside from those two, the show was very fun today. My brother-in-law and his son were at this taping. They said it was extremely fun to be in the audience. They described the energy, even during the commercials, as "breathtaking."

One of these days, I'm going to make a taping myself!
