CSS Results for April 27
« on: April 27, 2010, 03:08:24 PM »
To put it mildly, this week's CSS is off to a rather inauspicious start. Yesterday, only twelve people scored, and today it's down to eight. The only person to score both days is rodroddyfan, and that's kind of scary. (Several people did not play both days though).

The Sanibel showcase was problematic. I think we all know the price of the boat, but Thailand and that... kite-sailing? equipment were cheaper. I know that I shaved $1K off my bid and I'm glad for that. Both Army and I got DSWs, and while I get the win, he gets the money with his $100 better bid than mine.

The sports car in the second showcase is somewhere between $35-40K alone, and then there were some fairly pricey prizes on top of that. I felt like I had a good bid on the first showcase and didn't want to blow it (like I did yesterday) so I was cautious and went with a lower price on the car. The HDTV, computers, and Space Camp probably added up to $8K or so. Bids ranged from over to garf city. CrossTraffic was best without going over, and nobody who overbid the other showcase did any better, so don't feel too badly if you KO'd the boat.

I won't break out the llamas or anything, but I'm happy.

I guess I win the "Heartbreaking Overbid of the Day" award with my near-WSD on 1 (so painful).  I'll just let Serena express my feelings today:

At some point, I really need to start figuring out what all these expensive cars actually cost.  Obviously, trying to make up a number Pavlov-style upon simply reading "Nissan 370z roadster" isn't getting it done.

At least my bid on the other showcase kinda makes up for that today?

$35,300/$50,200... I was hoping that maybe Armadillo would bust on the first showcase (I knew not many people would survive it), but it wasn't to be. Oh well... I'll get back on track tomorrow.

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

I fail today with 34610/51510
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

No no no...you protect the budget from nice convertibles by making the other showcase deceptively expensive, because any overbid on the 'cheapo' SC is a free win for the mega-bux showcase!

In this case, the cheap trip works because it's being paired with a very-deceptively-expensive (to people that aren't us) boat.

But the huge Sanibel was liable for a garf, so you BALANCE IT OUT with the rest being cheap.

You could tell today that Greco used that alternative option, because the other stuff with the Nissan was actually normal.

uhh...$31,000 isnt really expensive seeing as thats become the norm over the past couple weeks. Especially since 4/5ths of us ended up overbidding it because of the deceptively cheap thailand

I'm feeling the same way right now.  Only for me, it doesn't really matter because of that dirt cheat trip to Thailand that evidently didn't even break $5K, because we should all know by now that the Sanibel is $25,745.
