We woulda had only 8764 dollars worth of prizes won had freeze frame not been won. Just slightly better than the 1st el skunko.
pepe! It took us all summer to clean out all the skunk stink from seasons 36, 37, 38, 39, and 40!!!

Well, it looks like something from the viewer survey is being tried out. There was a question about the models' wardrobe and one choice was that they should each wear a different outfit (instead of identical dresses). I guess a lot of folks picked that option.

Another misplaying of Bonkers. It was odd how the contestant stepped backwards from the game board each time he pushed the plunger down. Don't want to get too close; that would allow you to get more guesses! He was walked kind of gingerly too.

Shellie was very casual about personal when she extended her arm in front of another contestant to point.

Kitch, as a car enthusiast, I honestly love how you used that Volkswagen GTI commercial to describe the show.

Honestly, the only part of this show that I truly liked was Drew allowing Rich to come to the Big Wheel, letting Walter read the PT Cruiser's plug, and having Walter say "A new car!"  Walter didn't sound perfect, but the moment really was reminiscent of a time years back when Bob let an audience member call someone down.

I know Roger always tried to start the show off with exciting games. Starting it off with Switch? and Freeze Frame back to back was not all that exciting. (Especially when Freeze Frame is a total crapshoot for a bunch of designer crap!)

Really, the only part of the show I really enjoyed was Walter getting to do some announcing.

EDIT: I think someone said in chat this morning (Sorry, I don't remember who it was at the moment) that they know the reason Monday's show and tomorrows shows were switched----We would've had 2 DOB's back to back.

Switch?: I knew we had to leave the prices alone, but noooooooooooo, the peanut gallery had to tell Kathryn to Switch. You don't want to know how I celebrated this loss.

Freeze Frame: Random or not, I was also leaning towards 4612. So that means so far Me: 1, Peanut Gallery: 0.

Pathfinder: We're not blowing this one up. I had a trappy feeling after Tina picked 9 for the first number. If I would have know the agenda was Kate Spade, I probably would have said $95.

Bonkers: Joseph didn't look at the audience much, but he was kinda slow, in pace of course. It shouldn't take 8-10 seconds to make a choice. Also, if we know that it is not a good idea to look at the audience during Bonkers (or Race Game or Temptation), why do we have to have a shot of the audience??

Grand Game: I don't know why I wanted to pick the nuts, knowing it could be over $6.25. ("brand") of nuts perhaps?

One Bid 6: I just love it when the potentially banished has a chance to escape by bidding on a form of transportation and miss out.. oh.

That's Too Much!: Why am I'm beginning to think we may have to call this That's Too Eighth!?

Wow! This must be the lowest-winning, non-skunking show we're going to get this season....

Joey, I said that and I think it is true because they do hate DOBs in general. That being said, this week is so pathetic so far that it seriously wouldn't matter what episodes were back to back anyway - they'd all stink. A skunk, a 1/6 and TWO DOBs just shows that something's wrong. In my opinion, this week is part producers and part contestants, but either way something is seriously wrong. And, to the producers, why are we falling back on practices we KNOW are bad now? Like playing Freeze Frame for a room full of clothes? That really didn't work last season, what makes you think that will work now? Or having 2 products within 50 CENTS of the target in Grand Game? Does anyone besides me realize how ridiculously unfair that is in that game? It's the Guessing Game Is Right all over again...

Oh, I mentioned the highlight of the show yesterday so I'll do it today. Today there are two: 1) Both showcases were actually reasonable and reasonable to price! I could live with these every day. 2) The showcase showdown moment was a good one. Great way to get Rich involved and use some of the extra time they had for some GOOD interaction. Bravo.

Timings:
Switch? (3.5) - 3:33
Freeze Frame (4) - 3:37
Pathfinder (6) - 5:17
Bonkers (4.5) - 4:01
Grand Game (5) - 4:00
That's Too Much! (5) - 3:45
Total time (28): 24:13

Wow, Switch? first again!  And Freeze Frame right after it!  I can't stress enough how awesome it is that we've been getting some relatively old-school lineups lately.

It was a weird day win-wise.  Freeze Frame, which was pretty much a random guess, was won, but Bonkers, which went completely with the odds, and That's Too Much!, which held true to its usual trick, were both lost.  Go figure.

Actually, Bonkers was played pretty badly.  The contestant clearly had no idea what he was doing.

Having Walter read prize copy during the second Showcase Showdown was a very Barker-ish moment.

The Showcase actually didn't suck today!  In fact, #1 even sounded like a showcase!  In spite of that, though, I'm still going to rewrite it, because I think it could have been a little better:

Quote
This showcase contains prizes designed to give you the best seat in the house.  And it starts by providing the best seats in your house...at this new entertainment center!

(Insert entertainment center plug.)

Next, we'll give you an even better seat in the air...on your flight to England!

(Insert England plug.)

But the best seats of all can be found on the open road...in the front of your brand new car!

(Insert car plug.)

And this showcase, which provides every seat you'll ever need, can be yours if the price is right!

*sigh*  Back-to-back double overbids.

That's Too Much!: Why am I'm beginning to think we may have to call this That's Too Eighth!?

Damned if I know.  The right answer was seventh.

Maybe because it's a snack food, so one expects it to be $3 or $4 like a box/bag of cookies, crackers, or chips. But nuts always tend to be more expensive than that stuff. But of the remaining four grocery items, he chose the worst one. One would expect medication to be more expensive than toothpaste, a beverage, or a snack.

A DOB, a Skunk, and a near El-Skunko 1/6 DOB, 2nd lowest total of the year...

Gee, they really want another season...

Kitch, as a car enthusiast, I honestly love how you used that Volkswagen GTI commercial to describe the show.

The V-dub commercials are some of my favorites.

Was I the only one who thought Drew was telegraphing the double overbid before he read the first bid? He started by essentially saying, I guess I'll start here. If that wasn't enough, it was crystal clear when he got ready to read the second bid: "I don't like the looks of this." Then the reveal sounded like he was delivering a eulogy (followed by profuse apologies).

Drew's hosting has improved elsewhere, but when he knows the result is bad, he cannot conceal it. I should be so lucky to be in his weekly poker group.

It also kinda bothered me about the comment that the website has been up for only a year (sounds like a low-rent production when you say that in the third internet decade) and the comment about the anticlimactic showdown. You know, those moments that make you furl your eyebrows a little bit in confusion, not the torch-bearing mob reaction.

Here's my re-writing of Showcase #1:

This Showcase is brought to you today by the letter "E."

"E" stands for "entertainment," which is what our first prize will give you...at your new entertainment center!

(Insert entertainment center plug.)

Next, we'll send you somewhere that begins with the letter "E" for you to enjoy. Pack your bags for your exciting trip to...England!

(Insert England plug.)

We have one more "E" prize for you. What's that I hear? [Car engine begins to rev.] That sounds like an engine! [The doors open to reveal the prize.] "E" stands for engine...and it's coming from your brand new car!

(Insert car plug.)

And this showcase, which is brought to you today by the letter "E," can be yours if the price is right!
