The tenor of this show has been far different from the rest of the week. After a DOB, a skunking and two 1-for-6 days (one with another DOB), the purse strings have been considerably loosened. But some things don't change, as Valerie and Lauren have been on the red podium since the first call-up. It looks like Mimi's got more possible customers for the First Four Midday Revue. She's got a special buffet (complete with turkey necks), and serendaing by those smart-mouthed boxed flowers.

"A thing of beauty" in Cover Up today. 1st-2nd-3rd-4th-5th (one at a time)! Was this an historic moment? A win was practically assured by the time they had to change the last digit. (Double 2 at the end? I don't think so  ;).  Same for a double 1 before that.)

And Drew mentioned the strategy! I don't think Bob would have.

Great wins in Any Number, Pick-A-Pair, and Punch-A-Bunch (5K) also. Tough loss in the Showcase round though. Anyone thoughts on Drew's reveal? (I thought he dragged it out for too long.)

The rest of the show was rather ehh, but Cover Up was worth the admission. YouTube material. Punchy wasn't bad, either.

Although I've never been a big fan of "pairs" episodes, I am so glad that we finally got some big winners on the Mother's Day Show!

If there's one thing that bothered me the most about this show was how Drew revealed the first showcase.  He really shouldn't telegraph anything like a painful overbid by making it so obvious that someone did go over by so little.

Cover Up, though, was awesome.  Five turns is the maximum amount of tries one can have in this game, and that's something we haven't seen in a while.

I have to disagree there. I thought at first they had a double showcase win, because in previous DSWs, Drew laughs a little before he revealed the price. He did that today, but unfortunately, it went the other way. Even though it was a painful loss, it still kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

But Drew really shouldn't mumble and say "awww" the way he did before he read the price; it made the reveal anti-climactic, in my opinion.

Ouch. That was a painful overbid on SC2. But four wins out of six is an excellent show. Let's hope this is a sign of good things to come for the rest of the season.

Kitch, how in you recaps did you come up with 118,571 when I was keeping track in the room and came up with 100,197.

Finally, a good show for the most part.  I wish they could do them consistently instead of almost exclusively on "special" episodes.

Cover Up was awesome.  I don't think it's the first time anyone has gotten the maximum 5 turns, but it might be the first time someone's done it without ever getting a "gimme" by only having one number to choose from for a digit on any given turn.

The only real bummer of the show was the painful overbid on the convertible showcase.  Well that, and Drew's reveal of the price.  "Heh... well,... um...  aww...."  Just read the dang card and then react to it, Drew.

This is a nasty habit of mine: whenever Drew does his dramatic pause before reading a close showcase ARP, I find my eyes looking towards the price tag in Drew's hand. Today I saw the 7 written on the tag and knew that Andrea & Deborah had lost before they did.

Cover Up:  Talk about stayin' alive, that was great!
Punch A Bunch:  Good thing they bailed!
Any Number:  All right, another car win!
Showcases:  What a heartbreaker!  I thought (and hoped) that Drew was just acting like Andrea & Deborah overbid & was gonna tell them that they'd won both showcases.

Good end to the week, IMHO.

You know, Drew's been faking us out so much lately, that I couldn't really tell 100% either. I think it was fine.

Kitch, you mixed up the 5 and 3 as the last digit in Cover Up. Also, your show winnings total looks somewhat high...

S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...
