The first Showcase sucked.  Too many trips, plus what happens if the winner doesn't live in California? Are they going to get flown to California just for a day in that spa in Santa Barbara?
My guess is, no, since there was no mention of a flight in the description.

I remember Bob mentioning once that if a contestant wins a trip, they don't have to get to and from Los Angeles on their own (since the trip invariably starts and ends there), but get flown to/from an airport near where they live.  I always wondered what happened if the trip's destination was to where the contestant lived - would they get the non-flight part of the trip plus a round trip flight (only) for two to Los Angeles?

Quote
Andrea and Deborah's overbid was just painful. Drew's reveal flat-out sucked...if he can't do the dramatic reveal right, he should just go back to reading the price and moving on- don't dwell on it or drag it out.  The way he dragged it out and dwelled on it made it seem like he'd forgotten that the other contestants won.
At least he didn't say, "You shouldn't have added the 882!".  When I saw his reaction, I had a feeling the price was going to be something like $39,865, and they would have won both showcases had they just made the last two digits zero.  (Then again, that works both ways; I recall a contestant bidding some thousand "and one" dollars, and the price ended in 251.)

Cover Up was amazing.  I'm sure I've seen that before, given that I've watched every show in the last 11 years, but I certainly can't remember the last time it happened.

Punch a Bunch really does look so much better now that the old dollar signs are back.

Was anyone else amused that one of the groups of contestants was Brandy and Rachel?

Crossing out the digits on the new Any Number board looks much less stupid now that the numbers' backgrounds are also changing colors.

I wonder who gets the maid service if Valerie and Lauren don't live in the same house.

The only way Drew's reveal of the price of the second showcase would have been acceptable was if he had been faking to reveal a double showcase win.  He wasn't.

You know, Drew's been faking us out so much lately, that I couldn't really tell 100% either. I think it was fine.

Not during the Showcase, he hasn't.

Does anyone else find it cool, in a geeky sort of way, that Kitch colors the yellow Contestants' Row display orange? :)

Um...does somebody maybe wanna delete DMWTD's strange and very, very long post (which, fortunately, appears to have been a mistake and not an act of trolling) on the second page?

(Then again, that works both ways; I recall a contestant bidding some thousand "and one" dollars, and the price ended in 251.)

Ah, yes...two days after the debut of Pocket ¢hange, on the showcase that started and ended with a car. :)

I've heard tell of this, and I say "thank goodness."  I couldn't even tell there were dollar signs there with the purple ones in place.

Is this the first, or perhaps one of very few, time(s) that the contestant actually chose the number from the top of the 5th column in CoverUp?

BTW: My last typo still needs to be erased. The page with it (my link, top of the thread) is accurate this time, I swear.

The second showcase price reveal didn't bother me, because I had already read the card.

I can't recall... were the cards the prices were written on always so visible before the HD days?

I know Bob always kept the card hidden from the camera, but I don't recall it so much during Drew's first year.

Who knew that such a crappy week would lead up to a good show at the end?

Kudos to the staff when it came to the prize planning. I actually enjoyed that the prizes and prize packages weren't so over the top and super-expensive.

Cover Up- That's as good as it gets. It really didn't even look like she knew what numbers to put and was just randomly guessing. But that was just amazing how they were able to narrow it to a 50/50 chance for every number.

If you watch the video clip, on priceisright.com, of the two after the show, the mother mentions she was aware the game had a specific strategy when playing it.

watch this episode on priceisright.com  ;)

Personally is the first time that I see Any Number use a Door for a prize and another for a Car.
The new set is amazing! I love it!

I enjoyed watching the Mother's Day episode again on The Price Is Right.
A Big Rich Fields Drew Carey And Jeff Davis Fan For Ever From Kirsten

Rich Fields Thanks Kirsten. I pick out and supply all of my own clothing. That light gray suit is hard to pair with shirts and ties... but I think the lavender shirt and purple patterned tie pulled it all together.

My Favorite Announcers On The Price Is Right Are Johnny Olson Rod Roddy Rich Fields Jeff Davis.

I Met And Took Two Pictures With Jeff Davis On May 24, 2012 He Is So Nice And Kind In Person.

Rich Fields said this about Drew Carey will always be the first to defend Drew (Carey). He's one of the most genuine, down to earth people in Hollywood that I've ever met. He was the first to come to me and tell me that the show was going in a different direction. He assured me it was not his decision to let me go and I believe him. No one else was open and honest about it, but Drew was. We've continued working together on different projects and we stay in regular touch. We'll be good friends well into the future.
