I don't know what it's called, but it's a pretty common showcase cue from the '03 package. I believe it was also used for the First Bank of Price showcases.

I find it ironic how the show tries to mix up the prizes and offer "cool" things like over-stuffed trips and impossible to price items to make the show less "predictable." Yet, the same things happen every single time a show airs.

Well, not much to say today. Except I can't believe -95 was actually RIGHT for a car price (Line 'em Up) today and Drew really needs to quit looking at his watch when he does his schpiel before the first one-bids....I thought he had stopped that.

Timings:
Range Game (4) - 3:43
1/2 Off (5.5) - 5:14
Money Game (4.5) - 4:14
Now...or Then (5) - 5:12
Line 'em Up (5.5) - 4:33
Double Prices (3) - 2:34
Total time (27.5): 26:30

Drew seemed bored today.

It must just be me, but I thought the SP's in 1/2 Off today were relatively easy. (Well, at least the first 2 sets.)

I just find it ironic that Drew doesn't seem to understand the rules in "one of his favorite games", the Money Game. He never points how that the contestants actually win money in that game.

I was just going to say that, again. And today he didn't even mention the name of the game. Moreover, no running total or final total of the money.

On the "1st item up for bid speech": Didn't Drew say on air on at least one occasion that he had to state it for the record, for legal reasons?  I don't think he would say it on every show if he didn't have to.

I agree with what someone said earlier: Drew is just too unprofessional for me as TPIR host, though he does seem like a nice guy.

What's so important about mentioning the name of the game?

What's so important about mentioning the name of the game?

Drew does usually mention the name of the game being played, and Bob did as well, even if just through the explanation ("Fill up these four spots before completing the price of the car and money is all you get."). The host doesn't have to mention the name (it is printed on the board), but today Drew didn't make any reference to the money at all, and I've never heard him say anything about the dollar signs behind most of the numbers.

At least by saying the name, he would have brought up the money, which is why the game is called what it is.  That was my point.

A couple comments:

1) I think you have a glitch in the Half-Off section...you list both of the first two items as being half-off!

2) Still in Half-Off...don't you win both SP's in each pair you guess correctly?  If so, there wouldn't have been a tie between Cecilia and Terry in the first SCSD.

3) They don't use the New York price for gold.  At least, they didn't three years ago.

Yes, I see that. Minor hiccup. Still fighting off infection.

But my understanding is that you only get the ones you guess right. I could be wrong, I don't know. We haven't had anybody win ANY of the prizes in 1/2 Off yet since I took on recaps.

(And I can't find any LA prices for commodities.)

Yet another Winnipegger winning on the show today (Theresa)
This is the sister of a friend of mine!! Way to to Theresa!

Alright Theresa!  Always great to see a fellow Pegger be called on down!  It's a shame she didn't make it to the showcase but at least she won a car on Line Em' Up along with the other prizes. And when will anyone know the difference between the showcase showdown and the showcases themselves?!

Bob didn't mention the DSW rule or even the complete rules to the showcase on each episode. The exact rules to each game aren't even stated verbatim for each individual playing. I find it a little ridiculous that some members here are so adamant about Drew needing to make the IUFB speech each day or when "S&P" is used as the end-all reason why something must be done or quoted every day. It's not necessary.

This is because the rules are explained to the contestants during the break before the showcases, therefore they could skip over the rules if they needed to catch up on time.  For the one bid they need to go over the rules to make sure everyone knows what is going on.
