We actually had three shows that started with quickies this week, and none that started with cashers!  Awesomeness!

Gah...they went back to the black background for the unused digits in Any Number.  I can't understand why they'd do that -- it looked so much better with red.

Sadly, Drew isn't much better about telegraphing double showcase wins than he is about telegraphing double overbids.

Was anyone else really bothered by the zero gravity ride being for only one person?

YES.  It didn't sound like the least bit of thought was put into that.  In fact, it didn't sound like they even realized it could be an issue until Rich had already read the plug!

Was anyone else really bothered by the zero gravity ride being for only one person?  I mean, seriously... a trip for you and a guest, yet one of you isn't allowed on the zero gravity ride?  The show shouldn't offer prizes like that if they're not willing to spring for both people to get to ride!  That just seemed cheap on the show's part.  Really shouldn't offer the zero gravity ride in the first place if they're not going to pay for both people to get to enjoy it.

Based on what appears to be the price of that zero-gravity, $4,950 or $6,800 depending on experience, i guess there budget was already blown...That really stinks for the 2nd person to miss that kind of experience.... I'd love to do it [that].

I was pretty sure of what was coming when the first difference was so low. But you're right... it seemed like everyone was confused by the fact that Alyssa didn't have the same thousands digit; everyone thought she had lost. I remember that happening a good ten years ago or so, when a contestant bid $19,969 and the ARP was $20,141 (or something like that).

Also, that has to be one of the most evil Cover Up setups I've ever seen. I played along, and even using the strategy it kind of blew up in my face. I accidentally got the fourth number right on the first try, along with the last, so I would've had to choose between $23,319 and $23,119 in the end.

I always hate criticizing the Showcase reveals when there is a double (up or down), but it might be better if Drew doesn't know the outcome so that he doesn't have to play poker face. Much like someone who is lying to cover something up, the more you talk, the more people see through your cover up. No need for three paragraphs of monologue between reveals.

The Zero Gravity ride was for one because your guest has to videotape your take-off with your new camera. What a botched Showcase. Nice that they caught the misleading copy SECONDS before a bid was registered. Serves them right to have to give away both Showcases.

And for the record, the other prizes in Any Number were $860 for the bikes and $4.25 in the piggy bank.

Here's a first.  Drew gets zapped for moving the 'X' to the middle after a loss.  Nice one.....NOT!

Drew needs to be much more careful about how he holds the price tags...today (at least on the HD feed), you can clearly see the full price before he announced it.
They can be close at the top, too.

Nothing new there.  If you regularly watch in HD, there have been many times you can read the price before he says it.  I agree he should hold them away from the camera but I've kind of gotten used to it.

Speaking of seeing things in HD, there have been times you can see the amounts in Pocket Change before Drew even opens the envelopes.  The amounts are hand written on the back of the envelopes and I have been able to read them while they were in Drew's hand.

Do we know for certain that they even allow more than one person to ride in one of those zero gravity things? Good possibility that they don't. We can't assume anything.

As long as the contestant can't see it, and it's reasonably close to the actual reveal, I don't really care all that much.

I think we can safely assume they could have paid for two rides!

The photo shown during the Showcase indicates that there are several people in the 0 g machine

Any Number:  What a great win!
Cover Up:  Having the two 3's next to each other was evil!
Showcases:  Wow, a :dsw: and a difference of only $483 - totally awesome!

Pretty good end to the week even though only one game was won.  The showcase results made up for it, IMHO.
