Well, this was another random decent episode...I have no idea what's making these pop up, but I wish they'd occur more often.

Temptation was actually somewhat winnable.  In fact, I think I've noticed a new trick Kathy is using -- if there's a digit that's a choice for both the third and fourth numbers, it's wrong both times.

On the other hand, the music used during Temptation was Godawful.  I've said it many times before -- half of what makes the game fun is the normal cues.

Back on the first hand, though, 1 Right Price actually used The Cats today!  I think that's the first time that cue's been on in half a year.

Seeing Shell Game about blew my mind.  It was just played 16 shows ago!

Let 'em Roll was set up so badly, it almost spoiled every good thing about the other nine segments of the show.  The groceries were next to impossible to get right, which is a downright stupid thing to do in a game that was designed to only be interesting if most of the pricing is done correctly.

I disagree that Let 'em Roll was hard. Ghirardelli is a fairly high-end chocolate manufacturer so it wasn't going to cost peanuts for that size of a package of candy.

Dude, I work retail.  We sell Ghirardelli chocolate.  I have never seen anything from their brand that costs anywhere near that much outside of the gigunda bags of chocolate they market around Christmas.  Nobody in his right mind was going to get that right.

And then we should all know by now that the Space Bag will run you at least ten bucks.

Except for the one that doesn't.

And the car in this game was less than $14,000. Now, I know that you can't freeze any money rolled, but are you forced to freeze the cars rolled?

Yes.

Drew's ACTUAL quote was: "I'm pretty much on the record as being anti 24/7/365 floor clocks. But one once in a great while isn't so bad"

How much alcohol would it take to get him to say that about designer handbags?

Boy, Shell Game and Flip-Flop were really easy. Temptation is never a walk in the park, Bonkers and Let 'em Roll were definitely winnable, and 1 Right Price was pretty much a guess. We had some pretty good setups today I thought (though Temptation and its $877 and $676 and $500 need to stop). And while there are plenty of games that have been set up to be way too difficult on almost every occasion (Hi-Lo, Range Game, That's Too Much!) it seems to me that Shell Game has been set up extremely easy lately. It's 5-2 this season, and the contestant has swept the SPs in three of the last four playings. Incidentally, all three times that's happened, the contestant has won the $500 bonus.

There are two Space Bags.  One is over ten bucks and the other isn't.

Actually, today was the "Cube" Jumbo, which is $1 more than the regular Jumbo.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

Is this the first time Drew has sported a pocket square on the show? Did anyone else notice that today?

As I watched the second showcase progress, I thought to myself, "This showcase better end with a car!". A trip to New York for a makeover, including make-up? A selection of women's clothing and accessories??

The classic cue definitely stood out. Another reminder of earlier (and quieter) days.

I normally like Drew anyway, but I think he did a particularly good job of hosting today. His humor and interactions with the contestants worked really (Happy Days Are Here Again, shell game con artists in Virginia, etc.). I know some people disagree, but I like when he has the contestants read off the cue card or TelePrompter.

Let 'em Roll was set up so badly, it almost spoiled every good thing about the other nine segments of the show.  The groceries were next to impossible to get right, which is a downright stupid thing to do in a game that was designed to only be interesting if most of the pricing is done correctly.
Yeah, I read that portion of the recap before I watch Let 'em Roll, so I couldn't play along, but I think I would have botched both grocery items. Those were tough. Even though Space Bag shows up a lot, I can't recall seeing the Space Bag Cube (at least I don't remember Rich's dramatic reading of "Space Bag CUBE!!!").  Let 'em Roll, similar to games like Punch a Bunch, is more fun when the contestant has multiple chances. A big part of the drama is seeing how close they came with one roll and the anticipation of what will happen with the next roll.

Today's theme was the inexpensive cars of TPIR. We had the HHR, the 3-door Accent, and the xB all in the same show.

Anyone notice one of the guys in the front row comically twirling his mustache. I think it was during the fourth IUFB.

Somehow they should get the fridge with built-in TV together with the treadmill with built-in TV.  Maybe in One Right Price someday?  Or someday in a showcase along with a minivan with a built-in TV?

Fantastic to hear The Cats.  Who knew they still even HAD some of those cues?

Where's the love for Hole In One? We really should have seen that instead of Let 'em Roll.

Oh they have all of the cues and could play any one of them at a moment's notice.  Stan chooses not to.

Hey, let's lay the blame in the proper place.  It's more Mike than Stan.

Great show. This was about as good as a Drew-era show gets.

Was so nice to hear The Cats again. The classic cues may now be relegated to B list (grrr), but that doesn't mean that we should only hear them a couple of times a year! Maybe have an unofficial policy of playing at least one per show?

I would LOVE to be suprised one day by a Splendido showcase. Come on, guys. Throw us old timers a bone.  :)

Showcase #1
Digital Piano - $13,999
Trip to London - $2,970

Huh?! That tiny thing for more than the Accent ?! Remove that unneeded wood and you get the same for one grand.

And cheapo London.
Le Juste Prix, my childhood gameshow, and love TPIR.

HYO: $75,515 (SC 1/2 (loss against a DSW), PG 2/2, getting up on stage 2/8 - 2 FFBC)
CSS: 2 wins, 1 DSW, 2 WSD, $202,298, best bid $118.

Where's the love for Hole In One? We really should have seen that instead of Let 'em Roll.

In the same show as both Temptation and Shell Game?  Not even Roger could have pulled that one off.  Even if the other three games were all Double Prices, that still comes in at 28 minutes.
