It's about freaking time.

So... I will not be in town for most of next week. Therefore, recaps for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be late.

Steve, I'm just as surprised you were that the Tugboat appeared today.

I thought Clock Game was going to be miraculously won; Afaq said $799, then $899.  You'd think he would say $999 next, but he didn't.  Also, he just screwed himself over when he took several seconds to think about his first couple of bids.

That trip to the Bahamas is probably the cheapest trip there in some time.

I know not everyone knows their cars well like some of us do, but Susan played Pocket ¢hange badly, especially when she bungled around with the first number.  That, and the fake five, really hurt her chances of winning.

What the heck was up with that pirate banter between Drew and Rich?

Personally, I'd love some of that home casino stuff.

Susan, Susan, Susan...wow.  Apocalyptic fail on Pocket Change.  Interesting to note that they only load the prop next to the car up to $1.75.  Even they don't expect someone to fail that hard.

The pirate thing was funny but totally unnecessary.  If the IUFB is water-, boat-, or cruise-related, then, by all means, do some pirate banter.  If there's pirate banter for things unrelated to pirates, it becomes totally out-of-place and unnecessary.

Wow, it's quite rare to not get the wheel all the way around on the bonus spin.

Maybe I should take a minute and point out that I never said they'd gotten rid of the Tugboat.  I said Port o' Price was thrown away.

Well i don't know why she didn't but she didn't try hard enough either that or she's too weak and 1 wrong price shoulda been won today.

I agree. I think she thought she had two spins. Dunno.

According to my search, the last time that happened was October 3, 2008.  So yes, it's been awhile.

Well, it's interesting, because over the course of a Price Is Right season you have 190 episodes, and you have of course a few big winnings episodes, but a lot of episodes that don't really make themselves stand out that much. Today was only a 2-win standard episode, but it had LOTS of things that made it stand out, in ways both good and bad. In particular, it had:

-The first Price Is Right  tugboat appearance of the season (yay!)
-The Stage WSD in the showcase (7th of the season - and all 7 have been on car showcases, thanks Greco)
-The puny bonus spin (I felt really bad for the contestant....isn't that the first time a puny bonus spin has happened since Season 36?).
-We also had particularly awful Clock Game and Pocket Change playings (Afaq was just an interesting contestant in general. I don't think I've ever seen a contestant literally PAUSE for 2 seconds between each of his bids on an item in Clock Game. If you didn't see the episode, go and watch it - you have to see it to believe it, and then he somehow almost won! He then had perhaps the most stoic celebration for winning the showcase showdown in recent memory).
-The pirate banter between Drew and Rich for the ENTIRE 5th one-bid which was kinda random and something I thought went away last season. It can be mildly funny if used sparingly though.

As you can see from the above, this episode was the very definition of a mixed bag. Nice to get an episode like this though as the season winds down.

Timings:
Clock Game (4.5) - 4:10
Any Number (5) - 4:12
Double Prices (3) - 3:27
Pocket Change (5) - 6:10
One Wrong Price (3.5) - 3:15
Grand Game (5) - 3:53
Total time (26): 25:07

No, I definitely remember seeing it once before. But this is only the second time it's been used.

I find it ironic how the show tries to mix up the prizes and offer "cool" things like over-stuffed trips and impossible to price items to make the show less "predictable." Yet, the same things happen every single time a show airs.

Clock Game was absolutely bizarre today.  I really don't know what was crazier -- the way Afaq was acting like he didn't even realize Clock Game had a clock in it, or the fact that he still almost ended up winning.

Pocket ¢hange, on the other hand, was just plain played badly.

I about died when the Tugboat showed up.  I was really starting to wonder if they were ever going to use it again.

I used to love the rare times when Plinko would take a week off.  I'm not such a fan of the frequent times when Plinko takes a week off.

What the heck was Cheyenne thinking with that bonus spin?

I think Chyenne was trying to finesse the bonus spin, but didn't realize that she's pretty weak, and barely got the wheel around when she spun full strength. Drew looked like he was about to reset the wheel when he suddenly realized that it was over.

A couple of poorly played car games if you ask me. Pocket Change was just awful, and nothing more needs to be said about that. But Any Number wasn't great either. David just completely ignored the 8, trying every other number 4-9 in what was clearly an attempt to find the second number. He's lucky he ended up with the last two numbers along the way.

When someone is as close as Afaq was on his showcase, Drew really needs to make that more obvious. There's a big difference between the audience knowing he's over and the audience knowing he's over by $146. That must have been a pretty cheap Caliber.

And I for one was impressed that Rich was able to keep his pirate voice through the entire Come on Down segment. It was still a little weird though. I sort of tire of these "inside jokes" that Drew and Rich have with the audience during breaks (assuming it's that and not just complete randomness).

What the heck was Cheyenne thinking with that bonus spin?

If I had to guess, it would be something like "Well, my first spin went all the way around and then some, so I'd better take a little off for my bonus spin", and then grossly overcompensated.

Given how heavy the wheel is, I'm really not surprised that something like this would happen.

Clock: Afaq played this as if it were Bullseye '72 - apparently he thought it out too much on the first prize but he almost won the second one!

OB#3: The Tugboat reappears!

Pocket: Epic fail.

SCSD#2: Not often do you see somebody fail on a bonus spin.

Showcases: My OUCH of the Day: Afaq  :wsd:'d his showcase.
