But Any Number wasn't great either. David just completely ignored the 8, trying every other number 4-9 in what was clearly an attempt to find the second number. He's lucky he ended up with the last two numbers along the way.
There was nothing wrong with the way he played.  Maybe once he figured out that the 2nd number was an 8, he thought his best move was to try to peg the other numbers.  He did win, so you can't really say he played badly.  After the 2nd digit, the remaining digits are a crap shoot, anyway.

When someone is as close as Afaq was on his showcase, Drew really needs to make that more obvious. There's a big difference between the audience knowing he's over and the audience knowing he's over by $146. That must have been a pretty cheap Caliber.
That's difficult to do in this case, as Afaq's bid was $26,000, and the ARP was $25,851.  The minute Drew reads the card and says "The actual retail price is $25...", everyone knows he's over.  At that point it doesn't matter if he's over by $146 or $146,000.

To be honest, I was glad to see Drew do Afaq's reveal is a "normal" manner, instead of telegraphing it by groaning, or sighing, or going "Oh man...", etc.

Clock Game:  Not the best playing, but not the worst playing either.
Any Number:  Nice job! :-)
Pocket Change:  Horrible! :-(
Grand Game:  How the heck is Parmesan cheese more expensive than deture soak & medicated owder!? ???
Showcases:  Another heartbreaking overbid!  I think that's the second :wsd: this week!  Perhaps they should experiment for a week where you can overbid in the Showcase & see how it goes.

Not the best end to the week, IMHO.

Today's show really had a 70's Price is Right feel to it today. I'll explain what I mean in a second. You know we've had many days where we've said Kathy is so evil with her setups and doesn't want people to win and blah, blah, blah. Well today she gets some time off from our little rants. because most of the setups weren't difficult. The only game that maybe had a brain-teaser was Grand Game. And man out of all the contestants we could've picked it seems like we picked out the ones who weren't the brightest crayons in the box! Personally I feel that at least 4 games should've been won today!

Clock Game- Okay here is part of what I meant when I said the show had a 70's PiR feel today. The guy took too long in between bids and it gave the game that same stone-cold silent feel like we had in the early days of the show. It was interesting to see though when bidding on the second prize it was Afaq finally decided to hit the gas pedal.

Any Number- The guy once again was clearly focused on getting the second digit in the car, but the problem was he was all over the place with his guesses of it. First 7, then 6, then 5, suddenly jumped back up to 9, then came all the way down to the 4, before finally guessing the 8. Even though he won, I felt he didn't play it the best.

DP- I usually don't say this but since she's in the army, that was a well deserved win!

OWP- Here is the other part to the 70's feel. You guys may not have caught it but how the camera was angled when the doors opened felt like some of the wideshots Breslow used to do back in the day.

Pocket Change- I bet the producers were shocked that this contestant was creating her own forced loss! It's the worst playing I remember ever seeing in this game. And in all fairness, $21,483 did seem like a fairly friendly price too!

The Showcases were just awesome today too! That at-home casino was cool. Plus I like the first showcase, just when you thought they would end with a trip, BAM! They throw a car at you!

Bull. Numerous celebrities have appeared in the audience over the years. Most have not been recognized by the host, Bob or Drew, on air.

Bob I think has announced a few, but Drew hasn't that I can recall.  In Season 36 Greg Proops, I believe that his name, was in the audience but Drew never said a word on the air. I think Drew doesn't say anything out of respect to any celebs that may come just to watch.

Barker didn't always recognize special guests or celebrities on the air. Back in the early days, when Dorothy Jo use to sit in on the the occasional show, the camera would usually pan over her, but I can only remember Bob stating maybe twice that she was present.

But the there was the time that Ricky Schroeder was in the audience with a very prominent black eye, and Bob made him stand up.

So I think it's all up to the whim of the host.

Interesting to note that they only load the prop next to the car up to $1.75.
Obviously they have the tags that go up to $2.75. It would appear that the amounts are printed on both sides. That way, they only have to load up 5 cards in the stand. Once Crazy Rachel's price goes over a buck and a quarter, she apparently pulls a $1.50 card from the well in the base of the prop, and slips it behind the $1.25. Then, repeat the process, keeping two cards in front -- except when the host asks how many cards you got there, and you are caught flat-footed because you haven't had a chance to grab the $2.00 card.

You will notice that when the amount is discarded to the back of the stand, there are never any other cards there. But the base of the prop starts filling up with yellow.

As for the Showcase, interesting that the amount of the overbid could have been in the range of "lunch at a local restaurahhhhhhhnt." Seemed like an odd, nonspecific throw-in to the Colorado showcase.

I'm not trying to contestant-bash here... but what the heck did Stan see in Afaq? The guy seemed so... low-key.

I wouldn't feel too bad for Afaq or Cheyenne.  After all, look where they wound up.
