One Away:  Maximum bummer! :-(
Punch A Bunch:  How dismal. :-(

Not the way to end the week, IMHO, but I enjoyed Patrick Duffy & Peter Bergman being  the show today.

SO much for ending this week on a high note.  :-( Yet another one-punch win in Punchy and That's Two Much again.

Yay for the show getting a guest appearance right (or at least not completely bungling it)!  Patrick Duffy and Peter Bergman both came off very professionally, and the writing in both showcases was decent.  There didn't seem to be much of a reason for them to show up during the first Item up for Bids beyond the Daytime Emmys being on the television, and they didn't do much to explain why they were presenting the showcases...but hey, it's a start.

Punch a Bunch and That's Too Much! were set up terribly, as usual.

Incidentally, Punch a Bunch has been played as many times this season as Plinko, and it could overtake Plinko if it shows up on the back to school episode (well, if that happens and Plinko doesn't get played on May 20).  That's not right.

Yes, next friday is the july 4th episode, then after that will be 8 full weeks of reruns until the august 31st show.

OA:  OUCH.

Punch:  Set up horribly.

TTM:  Here we go again with the "That's Two Ninth" setups instead of the "That's Too Much" setups.

Showcases: FINALLY they get a guest appearance right on the nose.  Only bad part about the SC's themselves were they were both tripcases.
Tripcase n.  A showcase that contains one or more trips.

TTM IMO was meant to be won, but of course no contestant stops at the second space; therefore, making it a loss.

1-Yes

2-How? I only saw prize 1 as being evil persay

3-More like a "that's too soon" or "that's not enough" setup

4-No matter what guest it is there is no such thing as a good guestcase

So the guests today, as Gavazzi said, came off quite professionally, which was nice, but it ate up a bit too much time. OB1 alone, from the TV being introduced to the contestant coming up on stage, took 2:35, and that's a fair bit too long. The showcases were long  as well and as you'll see below very little gametime was left today. I will say that the idea to make one showcase about each was good, although the 2nd showcase did a much better job than the 1st of relating the prizes to the show in a simple, coherent and non-rambling way. Still, really hope that this sort of show is only an occasional thing as we continue, as it can work, but if it happened every week it would get annoying.

Gameplay-wise, ugh, we're clearly still in budget mode. TTM and Punch are just no fun to watch set up the way they were today. I hope this is just end of the season budget mode and things improve at the beginning of Season 39.

Timings:
One Away (5) - 5:36 (since OB1 took 2:35 and normal one bids take about 30 seconds, I subtracted 2:05 here. With the entire one-bid included, this took 7:41).
Side By Side (3.5) - 2:32
Pick A Pair (4.5) - 4:15
Switch? (3.5) - 2:18
Punch A Bunch (5.5) - 3:55
That's Too Much! (5) - 2:44
Total time (27): 21:10
