Results--The $306K Play Along II FPG for 11/03/2006
« on: November 03, 2006, 12:18:58 PM »
Why do Friday's winning totals stink so bad?  I actually got a full on view of the slate having gotten to be a "Price Is Right" Dance that day and got excited about the 2-3 slots.  Those are games I like and I had never seen Punchy.

But it wasn't until Wednesday's show that Sally and I figured it out.  A PLINKOLESS WEEK!

Who would outsmart the Dob?  Who would also look at Sally and Willy's Race picks for help?

Who if anyone would outsmart the Dob?

Let's find out.

3rd Place score 9 MG/35 CP with
Step(wS/wR), Punch(rS/rR), $G(rS/wR) and Dubba(rS/wR)

rob79!!  Well done!!

Hard Luck goes to regular PaulMiller.
Nice goose egg there fella!

Here's today's scoresheet.

OH....ALMOST FORGOT!

Two games played were picked by only three people, Step and ?Switch.

BRB, jordanar18, Gavazzi and Ben all get an extra $100K and rcbought picks up $200K for pickin both of em.

Their PA Bonuses have been adjusted accordingly.

Also, please take note of the new Ranking "IS".  Considering who's names it is by this week, it should be self explanatory.

Also, I never mentioned it (I think), so let's take the LTZ Pot up a notch next week.  That means you gotta score at least 2 MG to stay alive.

After Willy mentioned last week that he and John were in studio for the show that aired today, I knew that what they picked this week in Amazing Race would prove to be highly beneficial.

After listing all of the games that were picked by both of them, then crossing off all of the games that were played Mon-Thur, that left only 10 possible games that could be played today:

Bullseye
Double Prices
Eazy Az 1-2-3
Hole in One
Money Game
One Away
Plinko
Punch-a-Bunch
Step Up
Switch?

The common pick that intrigued me the most was Step Up, which was played just three Fridays ago.  Nowhere close to due.  I said to myself that there was no way in Hell that both of them would pick that game unless it was getting played... so I took it and it paid off.  :-D
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

In the future, can we conduct this game so that it is a fair and equal judgment of how we predict and rank these games that are played every Friday, and NOT as some freakish treasure hunt where clues are blatantly dropped somewhere and we have to search hither and yon to find them?

Really, we need to level the playing field on this. And what were you guys doing playing AR when you knew the games that were to be played on one day?

And the winner is the only one who predicted Double Prices would be lost? Any other week it's a bonehad move, this week it's genius. Ugh.
We'll think of a signature. Don't worry.

Argh! I actually get my FPG to line up with my AR, pick four games correctly, and then two things do me in: poor slotting and Double Prices being lost (I can live with Holey being lost, but not DP).  If only I could've switched Holey and Punchy, then I would've been in business.  Well, at least Money showed up on time, and my bet that Plinko would take the week off was rewarded.  Pushy also took the week off, which I didn't foresee, but I'll take what I can get.

And for the record, I agree with everything Robair said above.  I shouldn't have to see what two people picked for AR to make a judgment as to what to pick for the FPG, and I got four games right.  Imagine how well I could've done if I had.

Am I missing something?  I'm afraid I don't understand why picking DP would be lost is a bonehead move.  In fact, I did it as well.  (Then again, I predicted all six games would be lost, so at least I got something right about today's show.  :-D)

To Robair and anyone else who feels the same way he does, apparently

I'm pretty sure you are serious about what you think happened.  But BRB was not the only person to arrive at such deductions.  I know of one other person who made the same observations and also selected Step Up.

Let's review a few things and try and understand that I want to be forthright about how I feel:

1.  The Rules for the FPG state that no one can play the FPG if they were in attendance for that taping.  ClockGameJohn and FPGWillyT DID NOT PLAY IN THE FPG THIS WEEK NOR DID THEY SHARE ANY INFORMATION WITH ANY OTHER PLAYER ABOUT THE GAMES TO BE PLAYED.  PERIOD.

2.  The Rules for Amazing Race clearly state that so long as no more than 15 games are spoiled for one person for any reason, they may play the game without special recognition or penalty for having such knowledge.  Before John and I submitted I reviewed Scorpz' rules for Race and that is what I found in that thread.

Therefore,

Is it my or John's fault that the tapings just happened to run Thu/Fri/Mon/Tue and then the premiere, allowing us 12 games each week for two weeks?  NO, JUST OUR RANDOM LUCK.

Should we feel bad about it?  NOPE.  ANYONE WHO TRAVELS OUT TO TBBS-S33 GETS THIS ADVANTAGE.

Do we care?  I ONLY CARE SO MUCH AS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE.  YOU'LL HAVE TO TALK TO JOHN ABOUT HOW HE FEELS.

Don't like it?  GET OUT TO 3RD AND FAIRFAX AND SEE SOME EPS FOR YOURSELF.  HAVE THAT TYPE OF KNOWLEDGE FOR YOURSELF AND THEN COME CRYIN TO ME ABOUT IT.

I'm personally going out to L.A. TWICE THIS MONTH and plan on seeing a minimum of eight tapings and possibly all ten, allowing for the Mon P.M. "wraparound".

Is that gonna give me a leg up on the competition for Race?  YES

Is that gonna give me a leg up on the FPG played between those weeks?  MAYBE.

The inclination that we left an "easter egg" on the site for people to look for is simply ludicrous.  It's not like we had any other intention except to use our games-played knowledge to score a few more points for Race.

Well, darn. Plinko wasn't played, but I didn't go with Punchy, either. :(

At least Money Game saved me from getting nothing at all. Not in the right slot, or with the right result, but, still.

Is this the first FPG Scorpz has missed in about 4 years?
