Maintenance Update 9/4/10
« on: September 04, 2010, 07:34:05 PM »
Did anyone find out what they are yet? I've found 2, as of now. One, if you have a large avatar, for example mine, you can scroll across it, to see the whole thing. Second, no more "ignore user" function. If this is to stay, this is much appreciated. Thanks for the update, seththrasher, Marc, and  John!

Anything else new or that I missed?

EDIT: Guess you can add sub-captions to your avatars, too, such as Chad[1m's]'s "I promise" under his.

What happens if the chat is not fixed by 9/20?
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

I don't like that. I've enjoyed that function lately. I don't mind not having the number of people ignoring you in profile, but I think the feature should still exist.

That feature's been there, except now it puts it on the posts too instead of just in the profile.

The Ignore User thing was a bug, not a feature. Sorry.  It should be fixed now.

Today's updates started out as a way to fix the avatar cut-off issue, and there likely would have been a few new toys.  That didn't work, so now a slightly tweaked version of the current software is back.  A couple of new little things here and there, but generally, everything should be same as before.

I'm not a fan of the avatar scrollbars, but at least it's a half-step up from them being cut off entirely.  As a precaution, if you want to avoid the scroll bar for the time being, make sure your avatars are no more than ~150 pixels wide.

I've lined up an alternate basic chat program as a backup in the event I can't get the old software working again in the next couple of weeks.

Random questions, not trying to be rude, just curious: Why can't we see the last 5 posts of the board anymore? We can only see the last post made. This is merely a matter of helpfulness. Additionally, I can't view the forum statistics. Why is this?

I didn't know exactly where to post this...I figured here would be good since it's somewhat related.

The recaptcha thing that was a part of the new user registration area seems to have been disabled as part of the malware attack/ recent updates...given that there appears to have been a large number of recent spam registrations (and the fact that I've reported two similar inappropriate spam posts in the past eight hours), I figured I should bring that to your attention.

"Nobody cares about the guest stars." - Roger Dobkowitz

"Change isn't always good. Sometimes changing things is a terrible mistake." - Bob Barker

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.
