It would seem the smouldering crater is back. Like Rich Fields, the "labor" of the First Four clubs have been handed their pink slips. As for Mimi, she has mysteriously disappeared. It's believed she's likely at the International Court of Justice facing charges of violating several international laws, including at least two protocols of the Geneva Convention. In its place, there is a simple memorial, the First Four Wall of Shame, with the photographs of First Four contestants past. Valerie and Lindsey are in severe danger of being the first new inductees. At least one of them will make history today.

Drew was absolutely terrible in Money Game.  He acted disinterested throughout the game and he barely hosted it, he just let the contestant pull the numbers off.  It was a great win, though, but the hosting left a lot to be desired.

I really don't like the joke in Switch?.  Sure it was funny the first few times, but now it's gotten past old, into annoying.

Also, Drew really doesn't explain Secret X that well.  He implies that a tic-tac-toe using the secret X is necessary, but it makes things easier to follow when that's explicitly stated.

When was the last time we saw the same choice of price for both prizes in Secret X, or for that matter, in Pathfinder?  Fifty dollars was a choice for both the tote bag and the water bottle.

I was very surprised to see Hole in One played last for the first time since November 22, 1999.  I think the playing was spoiled on a TV prize back in June, wasn't it?

I don't mind the new souvenir golf balls in Hole in One.  There isn't anything negative I could say about them, it further enhances the sponsorship on the show.

Hole in One was fun to watch as well.  Drew sank a putt for what, the second or third time in his tenure as host?  Also, only the Space Bag was placed incorrectly, allowing for a putt from the fifth line.

Well, Season 38 is in the books.  I will say it was better in Season 37, with some bumps in the road like the Dollyrots, but the showcases have improved in writing and Drew is a bit better, but there are some things I'd wish he improve on.  We have another season on Monday and hopefully there will be some great moments, and they'll outweigh the bad ones.

I thought it was somewhat funny. He figured "Heck, if he wants to take control, let him!" His pulling didn't ruin the game, the camera work, the pacing or anything and Drew's "nonchalant" attitude was part of the whole deal since, you know, the contestant took the game over. Didn't ruin anything for me.

Also, Drew really doesn't explain Secret X that well.
I can agree with that. The need to use the center column should be emphasize.

Drew sank a putt for what, the second or third time in his tenure as host?
His "Yeah, I do this all the time. I'm the best" smile after the successful putt made me laugh.

but the showcases have improved in writing and Drew is a bit better
Agree on both counts, although ending showcase #1 with cash today was sort of strange.

Looking forward to the premiere and double headers all next week!

Today show was funny & sad it's the last show Rich Fields will be announcing.

Drew Carey did a great job as host.

I give today show a B.
A Big Rich Fields Drew Carey And Jeff Davis Fan For Ever From Kirsten

Rich Fields Thanks Kirsten. I pick out and supply all of my own clothing. That light gray suit is hard to pair with shirts and ties... but I think the lavender shirt and purple patterned tie pulled it all together.

My Favorite Announcers On The Price Is Right Are Johnny Olson Rod Roddy Rich Fields Jeff Davis.

I Met And Took Two Pictures With Jeff Davis On May 24, 2012 He Is So Nice And Kind In Person.

Rich Fields said this about Drew Carey will always be the first to defend Drew (Carey). He's one of the most genuine, down to earth people in Hollywood that I've ever met. He was the first to come to me and tell me that the show was going in a different direction. He assured me it was not his decision to let me go and I believe him. No one else was open and honest about it, but Drew was. We've continued working together on different projects and we stay in regular touch. We'll be good friends well into the future.

Gotta agree with Chad on this one.  I thought Drew handled Money Game very well by letting the contestant continue to pull the numbers.  That really shifted the focus of the game play from Drew to the contestant, and that is a good thing.  It helped that he won, too!

I liked the build-up and suspenseful reveal Drew did for the Perfect Bid prior to Secret X.  That was probably the quietest the studio has ever been during taping!

Not too bad of a show today. In fact Pushover and Switch shoulda been won today and had they did we'd have a 5 for 6 show or perfect one if we were lucky on balance game. The show was good as usual the way drew acted. Season 39 premieres monday. I wonder how many winless shows we'll have in Season 39. Drew's first we had 5 drew's second 9 and drew's 3rd 12. The question is will we always avoid a winless show every single episode in season 39 like we did in 28?

I just wonder if the studio gives free espresso or something with lots of caffeine because some conestants on the show including the top winner in the showcase somehow acted they drank a gallon of them?!

The lady who bidded one dollar higher than the other one that just came down in the last IUFB's didn't looked very apologic when she said when she came on stage "I'm sorry..." in my opinion.  BTW..during this game she was in, the sound was off and there was a manditory weather related emergency test system in So. Calif. so I didn't hear the description of the small items.

Does anyone know if this the first time both Canadians were the part of the showcase?

I'll miss Rich Fields, it's his last time I'll watch him in a "new" episode.  It was pretty good show I think.

Nice show to end the season. I can't think of a better way to wrap it up than a Hole In One win. :-)

If that is what it will take to make Money more interesting to watch now, I'll take it.

I found it kind of funny that Drew let him "control" Money Game, effectively letting the contestant do what he wanted to do, while urging him to "go see [his] car" after he won. Anybody else see the irony in this?

I thought Drew did a good job on Money Game, stepping back and letting the contestant play the game.

Hole in One was also a great game today. The products didn't have any deceiving prices, except maybe the bean dip. It was nice to see the segment not ruined by $5.09 food coloring, $4.49 canned cheese, or some other crazy expensive product. Congrats to Drew on making the inspiration putt  :-), and I also laughed at the face he made.

The trip to New Zealand at the end of SC2 made no sense. Boy, was that one forced. I had a bad feeling the last prize was going to be another trip, but I at least expected a beach resort or something to "show off that body".

EDIT: I almost forgot. Kitch, I like the First Four Wall of Shame. Does this mean you'll be replacing the Mimi spiel for Season 39? Cause no offense to Joe, but I never really liked it.

Will miss you Rich, as written earlier.

Agreed. Bob's explanation was simple and complete; it included saying something like "three X's there, there, or there (arm giving "across" motion), or diagonally there, or diagonally there" (arm giving "diagonal" motion).

And speaking of Bob, I'm pretty sure he never would have allowed the contestant to pull his own cards in Money Game, although I would have liked to, I gotta admit. :)   Actually, I think the contestant did a pretty good job with it; he pulled them quickly and knew where they went after being pulled. I figure some contestants would be nervous and shaky.

Yay for a totally normal episode!  No special guests...no 45-year-old cars...just plain ol' The Price Is Right, the way I grew up with it.

Drew wasn't too bad today, either.  He only made an ass of himself once (deciding that "and two tote bags" was funny during the first Item up for Bids), he handled Baldemar taking over Money Game pretty well, and he did a great job with Hole in One.

Actually, Hole in One in general was awesome.  Yay for Drew actually sinking the inspiration putt!

Seeing Push Over and Switch? lead off was pretty cool.  It was also the only show this week that opened with a quickie, as well as the only one with a car game third.

Were those golf balls given away the last time Hole in One was played?

$3,000 is kind of a goofy way to end a showcase.

Something happened today for what I think is the first time since Bob retired:  The phrase "the Price Is Right Showcase" was uttered.

A totally average episode, but a fun diversion for sure. Was that the first time Drew's sunk the inspiration putt in daytime? Seriously though, setups were pretty fair today, seeing Hole In One last made the lineup decent, and the Secret X contestant, the best contestant of the day, made it to the showcase, so overall this was a pretty solid show.

Somebody forgot to oil up the scales in Balance Game today.

That was about the easiest Hole In One GP setup we've seen all season, sad as that may be. Good to see her get to the 5th line on it.

Timings:
Push Over (4) - 3:16
Switch? (3.5) - 3:03
Money Game (4.5)- 4:07
Secret X (4.5) - 5:00
Balance Game (4) - 3:50
Hole In One (7) - 7:04
Total time: 26:20
