This was a good show.  Drew seemed better today, which was welcoming compared to yesterday.  There is no way Safe Crackers should've been blown.  I approve CBS's pre-emption as it was a matter of national security.

For some reason, Golden Road feels really cheapened.  All this Green Road, Golden Brick Road stuff has sucked the life out of the game.  Drew needs to build a heck of a lot more excitement in this game.  It's the biggest game on the show that will ever be won.  You have to treat it as such.

Not a bad effort, but I think they did better for last year's Halloween show. I mean, they did a nice job with what they were trying to do... it just didn't turn out to be all that exciting.

I found it funny that during the 1st Item up for bids.... (2 iPads and 2 $500 iTunes gift cards) that contetants were bidding LESS than $1000....

They probably didn't (or couldn't) hear the prize description, or they weren't paying attention to it, even though the cards were also shown.

Drew's costume and makeup were fantastic.

I wonder how embarrassed and/or stupid the woman who yelled out "760" during Safe Crackers felt when the price turned out to be $670. I found her loud (and incorrect) interruption of Drew's not-so-great explanation very rude.

According to a video posted on YouTube, the first time Golden Road was played the prize at the end was a Jaguar with a retail price a bit over $10,000. That was in 1975, just 35 years ago. To quote Bob: "And they say there's no inflation!"

All I'll say is: Showcase 2: THAT'S how you get the models involved.

And is it just me, or did Jeff fit the Scarecrow role almost too perfectly?  Somehow I couldn't imagine any of the other announcers in that role.

I see they found a new use for the "39" pillars...

I'm with you, compy...I really wish they'd just play regular ol' Golden Road. "Green Road" and "Golden Brick Road" just don't have the same ring to them...and the sign doesn't look right when it's only green and gold (though I absolutely approve of green and gold in principle... :D)

The opening was executed brilliantly...the black and white effect was awesome, and then going to color as the doors opened was excellent.  The "let's open the iris and blind people" effect for the last prize on Golden Road, though...not so much.

There's nothing to light up on Coming or Going, Drew...

Yay! Safe Crackers for a car! It just wasn't played well, though...it was a tossup between 670 and 760, but he chose neither...

Can we please just put Pay the Rent out of its misery? It looked really good on paper but is failing horribly in execution...the game either needs major changes to make it winnable or just retired.

I'm actually quite surprised that the Showcases weren't majorly sexed up...though on a show like today's, at least one of those Showcases needed a luxury car...

Showcase 2 was actually executed fairly well, though it fell apart at the recap at the end...otherwise, the models (and Drew) talking and presenting prizes actually worked.

OVERALL: 3.5/5. Despite the flaws, this show was actually quite enjoyable, and it didn't seem quite as gimmicky as last year's show...
"Nobody cares about the guest stars." - Roger Dobkowitz

"Change isn't always good. Sometimes changing things is a terrible mistake." - Bob Barker

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

I honestly did not think those showcases would be as expensive as they were

I wonder if they do a Halloween show next year how will they top this Great show?
That wasn't a showcase, that was an infomercial.

They never mentioned it but the Pay The Rent groceries had to do with The Wizard of Oz.

Roger, when was the last time someone didn't end the safe combination in 0?
They can be close at the top, too.

Golden-Road - Too bad  :-(
COG - Nice win easy setup.
ME - Tough setup
Safey - Another tough setup i thought it was 760 and an idiot wouldn't end the price in 0
Squeezy - Easy setup easy win
Pay the rent - He bailed out a 5k but too bad he didn't win 100k.

I didn't even notice that... maybe I was too busy being frustrated at the fact that Pay the Rent was being played yet again. :P

You know what?  You could have argued in the past that the audience noise prevented them from hearing the one bid description, but in case you haven't noticed, they've added FOUR SPEAKERS beneath the row.  No excuse.

Ashley:  She may very well have made "the audition cut" but I guarantee you with 110% certainty, it was Mike who put her in the Final 9.  Oh, had I been there, and Jeff or PWR was still doing the interviews, she would have been a mortal lock.  Stan, if she was all you, shame on you.

I wish more of you would make the trip and quietly walk the line and let em know who to look to.  These 2 fer 6ers are getting far too ridiculous.

I agree. Both the police officer and the "firewoman" had to be ringers. Their costumes were too perfect.

Are we still doing contestant searches? I ask because we seem to be having ALOT of Maxim type girls.

They have?  I remember there being speakers in the Showcase podiums, but not in the Row.  Besides, it's not exactly one of the most noticeable things to the average viewer.  I still consider myself somewhat of an average viewer, so no, I haven't noticed those FOUR SPEAKERS beneath the Row.

(Even with the speakers in the Showcase podiums, it was STILL hard to hear Rich!)
