Didn't get to see all of the show today, but did see pricing games 4-6 and the Showcases. Here's some thoughts on what I did get to see.

Bullseye: Wowzers, that's 3 playings in 3 weeks and here I thought we was going to see Check Out today, what tomorrow Now or Then? Definitely wasn't expecting Bullseye. Great win by Catherine to boot.

Line 'Em Up: I had no idea on the Focus-those things give me fits. I did know it wasn't $19xxx.

Switch?:Again, I would have lost-had no idea that 4 guitars were that inexpensive.

Showcases:$1?  It wasn't like Sneha bid $50xxx or anything, I thought Sneha might be over but not by over 4,000. But as it is, Catherine cleans up today.

Well, oddly enough, I'm going to start with the showcase, as that was the most... interesting part of today's show?  First, what was with the awkward silence after Rich finished the first showcase?  Bob took forever before asking what Sneha wanted to bid.  If Bob just wanted to kill time, it would have been better to strike some small conversation, rather than the awkwardness that was there.

Also unusual, the entire audience was chanting "Pass!  Pass!  Pass!" at Sneha.  I have to give credit to Sneha for not listening, though, and just deciding on her own whether or not she wanted the showcase.  Honestly, though, I was surprised she didn't let the audience sway her.

To make the showcase more bizarre, Catherine's bidding.  The $45,000 bid was stupid, and we can only guess why she bid so high.  But the $1 bid... why the heck did she bid only $1?!  That was just insane strategy, there, and also a stupid bid.  A stupid $1 bid that worked, but really, there was no way she could've been so sure that Sneha was over on her showcase:  I mean, it wasn't an Ashley furniture group, after all!  I mean, Broyhills are often decently priced, and a trip to Scotland, that could be just about anything.  Yes, the $1 bid actually worked for Catherine, but it was still not a good bid by any stretch.

Speaking of the showcase, was anyone besides me hoping that Sneha didn't go over on her showcase?  Oh, how much I was hoping that she didn't go over!  I so didn't want Catherine to win after that $1 bid!

Speaking of Catherine, "Wives of Gas Passers"... kind of an icky shirt she was wearing.

Yay for Balance Game's minor set change!  It looks like the game is now car-compatible, or compatible with any random 5-digit piano or whatever they might offer, so I guess 5-digit combinations can't be automatically ruled out anymore.  I'm curious if comments on this very board had anything to do with the change, or if Roger just realized it might be a good idea to change to a 5-digit display on his own.

I like how Angela played Lucky $even, picking extremes.  Just that Roger was surprisingly kind with the 5 in the middle of the price, and for the extreme fourth digit, Angela just picked the wrong extreme to choose from.  She just had no luck today.

And Janoel, heels.  I know there's absolutely no chance of you acknowledging her, but we all know you have no taste anyway :-P!

Bidding Round #1- #207, Nora, AND #208, Angela, AND #209, Catherine! HOLY COW, AN UNPRECEDENTED THREE-HOTTIE CALL-DOWN!!! :-D

Bidding Round #2- #210, Sneha! Is this day dedicated to me?! :-D

Showcase Showdown #1- Finally, a hottie gets in the Showcase. It's been weeks.

Showcase Showdown #2- It's an All-Hottie Showcase! Sweet! :-)

Showcase- Wow... she was actually going to bid $45K. Good thing the audience flipped out when she did that.

BEST CONTESTANT OF THE DAY- I'll let Frank decide today.

SHOW SUMMARY AND GRADE- The only highlight of the day for me was the hottiefest. Other than that, not much else happened today... Grade: 2

Lucky Seven: Angela was just too smart for this game today, and it cost her, plain and simple.

Balance Game: Yay! They changed the display to a 5-digit one! Now it can be played for a car! Anyway, today's playing was pretty easy.

Bullseye: I'm not sure if I would have won with 10 cartons of Goldfish, but it didn't matter today. Again, 5 Tums are not a good idea.

Line Em' Up: That was mean. My guesses for the car would have been $17,385, and then $17,395. As it turned out, we were all dumbfounded because the script people screwed up big time today with the car details! A ZX3 at $15,385 only has the alarm added on to it. The ZX3 with said options on the show should have been $16,832. How in the hell did that happen?!?

Switch?: Tricky. I thought instruments were always expensive now. Not today.

Showcases: The final prize in the first showcase was a surprise, because I thought a golf cart follows golf clubs as usual. Not sure why Sneha kept it, even though she's a collegian. Boy, was Catherine ever glad she changed her mind to $1- or else we would have had our 10th Double Overbid of the season.

Overall: Average show today, folks.

To any historians out there: I read this somewhere, and correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the first-ever TPiR showcase a spoof of "Little Red Riding Hood"?

Bet Johnny Olson's reading of it was far more interesting than today's showcase.

Angela.  She was nice, and I felt bad for her having absolutely no luck today.

And heels, I guess I'm not surprised you didn't like Janoel, since I did, but did you have to drool over every single other girl on the show just to rub it in :-P?

Today seemed like an average show, but I'm undecided whether it's leaning on the good side or bad side.

The price in Lucky Seven was pretty generous, considering the usual highs and lows we tend to see.  Too bad Angela went for the "Extreme Strategy" today; unfortunately, it just didn't work out.

Plinko was decent.  $11,000 from 3 chips isn't bad.  It's a heck of a lot more than what others win with all 5 chips instead.

Balance Game has a new display for the podium!  It's finally 5 digits, and I'm assuming (or hoping) that it will be played for at least a car sometime soon.  If not, then one of those expensive grand pianos/saunas and the like.  A $1000 difference between each possible guess might've been a slighty difficulty, but it was won, so that's all good.

Catherine, Catherine, Catherine.  She was a bit shocked when she yelled "I won?!  I WON!" after she won Bullseye... but more on her later.  :-P

Was it just me, or did Suzanne seemed morbid down in Contestant's Row?  Sounded like she was droning.  Line 'Em Up was pretty tough to the average eyes, because the audience certainly wasn't cheering when she made the car worth $15K, which was correct; she changed it later on to their delight and lost.  I don't know why, but I really, really have a hard time picking out a price in Line 'Em Up.  Maybe I shall indulge in Price Summer Reruns Therapy.  :-)

Switch was tough as well, I suppose.  There were 4 guitars, and maybe because it was that numerous, the original price on it looked right.  Well, compared to that dinky little dinette set over there.  :-P

Catherine, Catherine, Catherine.  I swear all she cared about was just winning.  She was victorious in the Showcase Showdown, and then when she could've proved herself worthy of all things in the Showcases... she goes ahead and bids $1.  If only Sneha's bid didn't looked so much like an overbid!  Catherine's original $45,000 was booed, so she dropped $44,999 from it frantically and went with $1.  You know, we might have to consider putting STUPID BID headings during the Showcases as well. ;-)

I don't know.  Nothing that interesting happened today, save for Balance Game's minor set change.  Maybe Alexander's shirt?  :-P  Ah, who knows!

Not much to say about this episode, but these things stand out to me:

Lucky 7: EVIL!

Balance Game: YES! 5 digit displays!  Maybe a Grand Piano could be played.  Anyway, I thought $6995 was the only reasonable price and I was right.

Probably the most fun part: Showcases, and how Catherine was goine to bid $45K. :-?   I knew Sneha was over on the Scotland version.  Good thing $1 was her bid.  And the akward pause was also the only interesting part of the show. :-?

Overall: Blah.  Let's see a better show tomorrow.

Lucky Seven: The one time where I think 5 would be a good time to choose and Angela didn't do it. Kinda like too high first, then too low.

Plinko: I wonder what works better: the (Apple iPod) or that Dell player. Oh, nice comeback to make 10K.

Balance Game: The $2K and $4K bags were all I could think about for a possible balance here.

Bullseye: When Catherine bought five Tums, it made me think of that recent Grocery Game play: "Five Tums is too much." I also thought about something else about some of the groceries as I type but I am not going to mention it. But I thought the syrup would also be around $3; I guess I was wrong.

Line 'em Up: I FFed the car description. I thought the first number would be 7....
If I would've heard that it was a Focus, I would've said no to Suzanne's second choice instead of going along with it.

Was Nora's Banishment so painful that even I may have to use some Capzasin? No.

Switch: Add a couple more guitars (or fancy up the dining group) then I would've left them alone.

Okay show, but now I got some summertime reading by a certain host to do.

Thanks for posting the recap. KSWT, Yuma/El Centro's CBS affiliate, did not show most of today's TPIR due to President Bush's arrival in Yuma (which was a very BIG deal here in Yuma) for his speech on illegal immigration.

Once again, thank you. And marc, if you're reading this, I have read the rules backwards and forwards. You'll see a better Blissey from now on.

What a snoozefest today.  And Catherine teed me off the instant I noticed that T-shirt she was wearing when she was coming on down.  Wivesofgaspassers what?? I knew if she had the bad taste to wear that shirt she would certainly make it up onstage, win a pricing game, and win the showcase.  And of course, she did, and in the most boneheaded way.  I'm just sooo glad Bob didn't give her T-shirt any attention.

Incidentally, does anybody know when the cue they used for One-Bid #5 (the artwork IUFB) debuted?  It sounds like early '80s to me, but I'm not sure.  We rarely hear it, so that was one of the high points of the episode for me today.

And since they cut away before revealing the price in Lucky Seven, does anyone know what the last digit was?  I'm hoping it was between 2 and 8, since I guessed 5 and I had 4 dollars left.
