So what would you do?
« on: February 11, 2007, 08:10:24 PM »
I just had an idea.  Besides Price, what shows would you want to see on GSN regardless of licensing and what not?  Also, what shows do you want to see removed from or never put on GSN?  Remember, this is open to any and all game shows.

I'd love to see:

Match Game 90
Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour
The Joker's Wild
Feud 94
The $10/20,000 Pyramid
Double Dare (CBS)

I wouldn't mind seeing these just disappear:

Love Connection
Newlywed Game
Those Poker and Black Jack shows.

And I hope to never see:
Louie's Feud
Karn's Feud (too late I guess)

I'll probably have more later.  Can't wait to see what you all think.

I'd go for

Whew!
Joker's Wild (all versions except the '91 remake)
Hot Potato
Bullseye (loved that lightning sound effect)

I kinda liked Louie's feud btw, liked his laid back attitude.

My list does not take into account either licensing issues or whether the tapes even exist today.  But here goes.

I wish they'd add:

-The Price is Right - Barker's version, only
-Hollywood Squares -- Marshall's version only: I'm sorry they took it off the schedule so quickly
-Tattletales - The 80s version
-To Say the Least
-Chain Reaction -- Bill Cullen's version
-Treasure Hunt
-Concentration -- the 70s version or Trebek's "Classic" version
-Hot Potato
-Child's Play
-Magnificent Marble Machine
-The Cross-Wits -- only the 70s version
-Whew!

I wish they'd toss:
-Playmania -- or at least shorten it so that they don't end up wasting so much airtime that could be used to air more classic shows!
-Dog Eat Dog
-High Stakes Poker, Poker Royale -- or any other Poker show
-Celebrity Blackjack, World Blackjack Tour -- or any other Blackjack show

I wish they'd forget they ever heard of:
-Newlywed Game -- any version
-Dating Game -- any version
-Love Connection
-Chain Reaction -- the new version
-Amazing Race -- (And any other reality show)

Kick these off:

I'd love to see the old school nickelodeon game shows, like old Double Dare, What Would You Do?, and Legends of the Hidden Temple. I know some of the old ones are on some of those upper channels but I don't have them here at school.

Legends, Nickelodeon GUTS, Double Dare 2000, Get the Picture, Figure It Out, and Nick Arcade are on "Nickelodeon Games and Sports" or "Nick GAS".

I used to look forward to getting up at 5:00am, when they used to air a one-hour block of my favorite kids' game show:  Finders Keepers.  Unfortunately, after 9/11/06, they took it off the schedule.

Another gripe I have with Nick GAS is that the shows are repeated six times a day.  The only good thing was that if you missed an airing, while in school (or at work), it would come on again later.

As for GSN, I would rotate some of the shows that air from 7-11, so online players can have a variety of shows to play along with.  Instead of a double run of Lingo, I would actually  pair it with Chain Reaction permanently at the 7:00 hour.  Both online games are very addicting to play.

Would love to see:

Hollywood Squares (Marshall and Davidson versions only)
Sale of the Century (Perry; Daytime and syndicated)
Scrabble (1984-90 version only)
Classic Concentration
$1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime
Tic Tac Dough (CBS and syndicated 1977-86 run)
The Joker's Wild (CBS and syndicated 1977-86 run)
The Gong Show
Treasure Hunt

...the list goes on. Every good classic show.

Get rid of them, please:

Love Connection
Newlywed Game
All originals (except maybe Lingo)

Never air, please:

Match Game '98
Card Sharks 2001
Any other dating-related show
Any other reality competition show

...there's others I could thin of, but I don't want to tke up all the space.

I have to agree with this. Love Connection and Newlywed Game are good for a few laughs in a clip show, but boy do they grate on the nerves. GSNs originals and revivals tend to be as bad as they are not because of the concept, but because of the contestants. I can't watch Chain Reaction even though I kind of like the game because the contestants make so many stupid guesses. I'm also not wild about the super-campy panel on I've Got A Secret.

But Chuck Woolery is pretty good, and I like Lingo.

Obviously not, since I listed it as a show I'd like to see added; on the other hand, I wonder if GSN realizes that it's airing the show:  it is not among the list of shows that appears on its own website.

Thanks for letting me know.  :-)

It's not on the list of shows that GSN airs on its website; on its TV schedule however it is listed, but there's not hyperlink to a page describing the show.

Hope that helps.

What I wish GSN aired:

Scrabble 1984
Barry's Joker's wild
TTD (Martindale's only)
Clark's pyramid, particularly from the 1970's.
Sale of the Century.
High Rollers '78.
Woolery's WOF.
Supermarket Sweep.

Shows GSN should scrap:
Reality Programming
Love Connection
The New Chain Reaction.
Newlywed Game.

It's a fairly recent addition.  Either they haven't gotten around to updating their page yet, or they're not sure they're going to stick with the show that long (it was only on the air for one year).

In a nutshell everything, especially the Reg Grundy shows if the rights can be even remotely secured.  Admittedly Winning Lines might not come out right in a rerun given how tied into the home game it was, though.

Just so I know, who owns the rights to Wink's mid-90s Family Channel shows (Trivial Pursuit, Boggle, Shuffle, Jumble)?
