If they lock-out, it would be terrible. Not only would it hurt us, the fans, but can you imagine the blows the businesses that are run by NFL on Sundays would take? I wish both sides would realize this and get some sort of agreement together. Quit the blame game and get a deal done!

Nope, the NFL and the owners don't lose billions. In fact, they won't really even suffer that much. The billions of dollars in television revenue is guaranteed, even if a single game isn't played. $4.5 billion in guaranteed television revenues, with no players salaries to pay (about $4.4 billion). Guess what? They're still profitable WITHOUT DOING A DANG THING!!!
Well now the owners aren't going to get that TV money. It looks like, however that it won't change their position.

Well even with the extension of the deadline, I doubt the NFL and the Player's Association will get a deal done within the next 24 hours.

Yeah, but think of all the news cycles they're getting easy press for!

Yeah, but think of all the news cycles they're getting easy press for!

In a way, this is good press for the NFL.   Typically this time of year, they aren't the #1 sport in the news.   It has transitioned to Baseball or March Madness.    Right now, NFL is still getting a ton of press.

These deadline extensions, are exactly what I thought would happen.   As long as things are progressing, they'll just keep doing that until a certain point.

It would give the owners a huge black eye if they lock them out while they have been having daily discussions.

Here we are again, a day and an hour or so before the agreement expires. Sound familiar?

There will most likely be a lockout. The players' union decertified itself, which means that they can file anti-trust suits against the owners.

Guess I need to take my optimism that they are going to get this done down a notch.   I still think they have 2-3 months before it will jeopardize the season though.

So then, I suppose the question is, how long would your typical antitrust case take?
