Really? You've never seen people able to change their "answers" on Price? Even Bob gave people that chance.

You know, I've given up even trying to figure this show out. Between:
-The obvious (playing Rat Race 2 days in a row for no discernible reason - I doubt Rat Race would ever be subbed for ANYTHING. It's the most likely game in the rotation to break!)
-Playing Let 'em Roll for a $26,000 Miata and One Away for a Hyundai Accent
-Setting every game except Secret X and Squeeze Play (kinda) for a loss and offering $120k of prizes in the showcase round
-A trip for 4 people offered in Coming Or Going being $4200 for 6 nights and a trip for 4 people offered in a showcase being $15000 for 3 nights. How do we expect contestants to price these things again?

Seriously, there's lots of things in this show that just don't add up anymore. Today was just one of those episodes that really had very little redeeming about it, and the Rat Race wipeout and gratuitously long, gratuitously expensive showcases didn't help. (And evidently we're letting our guests pick the prizes now? That shouldn't be happening - and on The Talk today, Julie mentioned that Price is letting a future guest do that as well.)

Though I'll try to help them out on the Rat Race wipeout at least. It's possible that Drew's explanation of Rat Race may just need to be refined a little bit, to make clear that the 2nd item is going to be a 2-digit prize and the 3rd item is going to be a 3-digit prize. That really should be somewhat implied by the ranges given and the level of prizes offered, but it might be necessary to state anyway.

Timings:
Let 'em Roll (5.5)- 3:54
Squeeze Play (3.5) - 3:04
Eazy as 123 (4) - 4:07
Coming Or Going (3.5) - 3:52
Rat Race (6) - 4:41
Secret X (4.5) - 3:55
Timing (27): 24:33

Just when I think I have Mike figured out, he proves me wrong.  He made Squeeze Play so easy, it was hard.

But Mike proved me right with Coming or Going.  The trip to Cancun was for 4 people instead of 2, so the price logically had to be $6,000, right?  Wrong!

Rat Race again?

Rat Race wipeout again?

Julie Chen in the showcases... Jack, I'd like to go off the board for FAST FORWARD CRAP.

No, Drew, I will not watch you on her show.  I would rather gouge out my ears and eyes with a rusty screwdriver.

This goes down as the worst episode of the season, possibly the worst episode since the Jack Wagner episode.

My showcase bids:
Fast Forward Crapcase #1--$30,107
Fast Forward Crapcase #2--$60,107
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

For a Rat Race wipeout, I'd like to see Drew offer the contestant a consolation prize of $100 if she could pick the winning rat.  Just something to make the race meaningful.

My guess is that Spelling Bee and some quickie were subbed out for Rat Race and Secret "X". Here's how it would break down: The car and one small prize goes to Rat Race (and then add in a couple prizes); while the quickie prize and the other small prizes went to Secret "X". Spelling Bee may have originally been scheduled first; then they move Let 'em Roll, which may have been fifth, up to the one slot, add in Rat Race fifth, and replace the quickie meant to be played sixth with Secret "X".

Except that one or two of the small prizes on today's show cost over $50, Spelling Bee has yet to do that. Maybe they'll start.

Actually, Spelling Bee has done that before.  It's very rare, but sometime around Season 32-ish, they used a $53 or $57 prize.

I think the Rat Race rules need to be changed so that the contestant is guaranteed at least one rat. Drop the $1.00 GP and keep the $10 and $100 SPs.

I think they need to pick smarter contestants. Or at least ones who will listen (I know it can't always be easy on stage), and not rely on a pretty and bubbly personality. While that can work for some, it makes most of them seem like idiots.

Muretta could fit into that category. It felt like she was going to an audition.

If, given a $100 range, she priced the mixer at $60, that means she thought it was within the realm of possibility that it was negative-$40. But I don't see any reason to change the game rules or the explanation - a game where the contestant can win three prizes including a car should be challenging.

The modeling wasn't so hot, but what the hell. To be honest, they modeled better then Gwen and Amber do half the time.
That's hyperbole, right? They spoke okay, but the modeling was cringeworthy. Two Showcases without the models. I feel cheated.  :-(  Amber, who has the weakest modeling skills, is still worlds better. She did have a bad moment in Easy though. When her item was being described she just looked at it, face away from the camera, without gesturing or anything. Very awkward. Incidentally, we got the "Amber's wardrobe by . . ." plug again.

I'm with 3StrikesFan. Ideally, they'd pick better contestants. But when a contestant plays that poorly, it's fine for them to lose. They should modify the rules to rescue the worst players. The $60 was ridiculous, but also as a whole, I thought the pricing for Rat Race was pretty easy. Not only did I get all 3 within the range, but I got pretty close on all of them. And I don't think I'm a hardcore pricing wizard.

What the hell is going on with this schedule?  I could understand Rat Race showing up two days in a row if the episodes were aired out of order...but so far, there's no indication that they were.  That was very strange.  (Also, it's terribly depressing to see it bombed on apparently back-to-back episodes.)

Why can Adam not understand that Let 'em Roll is not supposed to be hard?  If they're that worried about giving away the car in it, don't freaking use $26,000 cars!

Eazy az 1 2 3 is just boring when the contestant takes all the blocks at once.

Going back to Rat Race for a moment, Drew should not have accepted Jacqueline's guess of $18.99 on the iron.  You can't bid on a small prize in dollars and cents.

You know, I really don't care why Holly Robinson-Peete's family enjoys iPads.  She went on about those things for so damn long, I was actually surprised when George started reading the prize copy, because it had sounded like that was what she'd been doing!

I'm actually a little torn on Rat Race.  On one hand, Jacqueline definitely did say $60, there's no question, so a technical win was not warranted, make no mistake.  On the other hand, she quickly realized that the $60 guess was a really bad idea, and was desperately trying to take it back, but Drew and the model were both ignoring her, and for that matter, seemed to be in a bit of a hurry to get the price revealed.  It actually seemed very un-Drew-like... I kind of wonder if he just didn't hear her, since he usually loves allowing people a huge amount of time to change their minds.  Either way, I felt bad for her, since she just wound up helplessly pleading to change her answer.

Yeah...but hey, Rachel already had the price halfway revealed by that time.  You really can't blame her or Drew for what happened.

Steve, do you know why Rat Race was played in two consecutive episodes?  That probably couldn't have been scheduled worse than it was, with two consecutive episodes with a wipeout.  I suspect a fair number of casual viewers will even notice that.

I wish I did.  I'm confused as hell.

January 17, 2007 playing of Card Game.  Bob did not always let contestants change their mind.

Bob should have let that contestant change her mind.  Annoying as she was, the rules still allow you to keep playing after you use an ace.

Let Them Roll:  Rough luck.

Squeeze Play: The 0 was the only clear choice here.

Easy As 1-2-3:  Not so easy when a contestant doesnt know the difference between a motorcycle and a mopad.  Nor how insanly expensive Mac's are versus regular "Windows based" computers.

Coming or Going:  I cry foul here.  I sure would like to see the breakdown of the expenses-prices of a 4 person trip for 6 nights to Cancun.

Rat Race:  Pathetic gameplay here.  And no, the rules do not need to be "modified" to give contestants a free rat.  If you have seen the show at all before heading to Studio 33, one should know the setup of the grocery item and the 2 small prizes.

This playing and the general influx of stupidity has proven to me the need for some type of intelligence test to be given to the contestants during processing.

Secret X:  No party for you tonight Mr.Shunk.

Showcases:  More Showcases more expensive and fancy than need be.

Off Topic:  I agree with Steve, that Card Game playing from January 17th,2007 was unfair.  The contestant should have been awarded the car.  They have given techincal wins for a heck of alot less.  Even in the Barker Era.
