Come on, of course it's a joke. You can't honestly expect the man to be that blatantly full of himself. Drew Carey's career has been built on self-deprecating humor and sarcasm. As for the repetitiveness of the joke... you have to remember that the show is no longer catering to LFATs or regular viewers, but to people who tune in every so often. They don't know it's all the same thing. MY problem is that most viewers don't know Drew created Rat Race, and the joke is lost on them. This leads to situations like Diana thinking she was going to play Plinko.

Drew created the game...why wouldn't he seriously believe it?

Really? Do you pay any attention to things like voice inflection? He's a comedian. It's a joke.

This isn't a conversation that we should even be having.

"I'm taking my bonus spin"

Drew takes pride in his work alot.

It has to be drew's favorite moment of the show, a game he created is played.

-Nice to see Flip Flop set up easily. Too bad the contestant didn't like the easy setup and blew it.
-What a close win in Lucky $even! That's how you make a show exciting.
-It's in the Bag wasn't terribly difficult. I'm glad she knew when to bail.
-Nice win in 2 for the Price of 1. It was kind of random, but he made the right choice.
-Push Over also wasn't hard. Glad it was won.
-What a great contestant in Rat Race. Too bad she didn't get all three rats, but we actually had a contestant bid over $200 on the third prize. WOW.

The showcases were meh.

I think his point is that Drew's joking when he says that about Rat Race, not that he seriously believes it.
I thought that the point of joke was to make fun of something. I don't think Drew would make full on fun of something he made, so I think he seriously believes some of it. Also, (as TPIRighteous beat me to it) not many people know Drew Carey created this game. He's using a joke that works on a limited audience. Inside jokes are funny, but not when the person you're telling it to isn't in on it. It's like Dennis Miller on MNF, he's telling jokes that go right over the head of the main audience. I don't like the joke anymore, but that is because I've seen Rat Race's last few playings and it has grown old for me.

Phrases that had all of us scratching our heads and saying "Wow... just wow" today:  George calling for the "next prize" on One-Bid #1 and Diana asking stupid questions like "Am I first again?" and "Is that [bid] too high?"

$21,738 was not an evil Lucky $even price, but it was challenging.  The 8 at the end coluld've killed most contestants, but Brittani made excellent guesses on the third and fourth digits and could afford to miss the last number by 3.

Even though It's in the Bag wasn't won, Drew did a great job of hosting it today.

My showcase bids:
MINI--$28,107
Outdoor--$24,517
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

How in God's name was Flip Flop lost?

It's in the Bag was really winnable for once.

Yay for somebody actually winning something in Rat Race!

Speaking of Rat Race, I would like to know what was up with Diana.  She seemed to be somewhat oblivious, both to what was going on around her and to how game shows work in general (i.e. the host is not going to tell you the answer).

The problem with Drew's Rat Race introduction isn't that it's egotistical.  The problem with it is that less than .5% of the people watching are going to understand it.  Frankly, it sounds like he's describing Plinko, which a lot more people are liable to expect to see than Rat Race.

Even I've thought Plinko was coming a couple of times after he's done that.

Flip Flop:  Shoulda been won. :headbang:
Lucky Seven:  Good win! :-)
It's In The Bag:  Good thing Vanessa bailed, although I was surprised that the last two bags were incorrect.
2 For The Price Of 1:  Nice job! :-)
Push Over:  I was a little surprised when I found out that Debra won.
Rat Race:  Lucky win! :-)
It's been said on here before on rat race if someone gets the price on the nose they should get all 3 just like in spelling bee
I totally agree that this should be done.

Good show overall, IMHO.

Flip Flop was probably the easiest set-up, but it was lost. On the other hand, the other candidates were pretty skilled. Lucky Seven was very exciting. She did a good job thinking straight on the last digit. There was some moron in the audience holding up 8 or 9 fingers on the last digit in the audience. In 2 For the Price of 1, that was a good use of the freebie. And in Rat Race, the contestant did a good job at picking prices that cover a good range.

I liked Drew leading the Icy Hot chant. And we had contestants who were enthusiastic without being too over the top.

It was pretty interesting demonstration in the first Showcase with Manuela using the watering can to show that the outdoor TV still works when it's wet. Of course, my preference would be to switch the demonstration around to show that Manuela still works when she gets drenched.  :-D
