Whether you find the prize appealing or not, the language was thoroughly unnecessary.

Nice to see the staff still doesn't get it.  This is the time for eighty-bazillion Apple products, an "ultimate dorm" with TV/computer/fridge/etc, computer-related gift cards (iTunes/Skype)....that stuff.  365 pairs of shoes = fail.

Don't think I would want to go to London right away to use the prize. How long after you win do you have to use it?
A year?
They can be close at the top, too.

Well this was taped 6/2... maybe (assuming it was won of course) it was able to be at a convenient time...

Then again, do you REALLY want to be on one of those drinking tours? :P

You're not talking to me, are you?
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

Yes. I don't think I'm the only one on this site who finds that word offensive.

I take these mega-shoe prizes kind of like wine cabinets: looks impressive but if won will probably be refused - like most trips.

Do we know this to be true about the trips? And IIRC, the only previous mega-shoe prize wasn't won - so how do we know it would have been refused?

I don't think we can make any assumptions. For all we know, the person who wins the prize will have a use for it. Or - there's a charity based here in Charlotte that collects donations of shoes and sends them to developing countries. I think they're more interested in sneakers than stiletto heels, but one never knows.

Or it could be one of those things that they just substitute the cash value for...

I don't think they do that unless the prize is actually unavailable.

I'm with you on this one.  No reason to be using any deities' names in vain on this site.  I've edited the OP.

(In my opinion, there's no reason to be so vehemently opposed to the concept of offering a large quantity of shoes as a prize in the first place, so I find the whole thread somewhat silly.  But I don't get to decide popular opinion on that, so what do I know?)

Seriously, it's not the end of the world.  It's not the WHOLE Showcase is nothing but shoes.  If somebody wins them and they don't like it, they can forfeit it.

No one has yet to call for the cancellation of the show.

Honestly, I think there is the concept of "too much" (heck, it's in the name of a pricing game). This "large quantity", I believe is too much. It is more than a person would need (you could even apply this to Triple Play to an extent). A bunch of shoes seems too cumbersome for me, but I guess since I'm not a female I just don't get it. However, I like the idea of giving a lot of the shoes (should they be accepted) to charity.

BTW, another problem with this "Shoecase" is the male to female ratio. I'm guessing 2 guys will be called down and 7 women.

At least a wine cabinet doesn't require a closet bigger than most people have.

(Imagine if they gave away a wine cabinet on a college show...)
