The second of three recently unearthed Cullen episodes from the 1961-62 holiday season...

Bill comes out to loud applause and  wishes everyone a Happy New Year, also pointing out that the show is telecast live on the East Coast (the Christmas show was recorded a week prior).

The bargain hunters:
* - Pat DeBenedetto is the returning champion. An engineer from Kenosha WI who won $7623 in merchandise in his last appearance.

* - Judy Frank is a housewife from East Elmhurst N J.

* - Leland Brown works for the IRS and is from Upper Darby PA.

* - Jackie Way is a piano teacher from Dallas TX. She was especially pleased with her Texas Longhorns, who defeated Mississippi 12-7 in the Cotton Bowl earlier in the afternoon.

All contestants receive a gift package from the makers of Newport cigarettes (the evening's primary sponsor).

First item up for bids: A family room. The Ranch Oak collection from A. Brandt, consisting of 28 pieces made of hand-rubbed white oak. Price authority: A. Brandt Co., Ft. Worth TX.

Next item: A trailer. The Odyssey sports trailer converts from its travel position by a pop-up procedure to full size, accomodating four people. It is furnished with water pump, refrigerator and range and is made of reinforced fiberglass. Price authority: Odyssey Trailer Company, Magnolia AR.

(3)Try to get home from work on time
(4)Be home more often
(5)Take wife out more often
(6)Let her watch her TV program

Mrs. Way must pick the three resolutions her husband selected which will be denoted upon selection with a "W". The other three resolutons were selected by Mrs. Frank's husband (which would have an "F"). Mrs. Way selected resolutions 2, 3 and 6. If she gets all three right, she wins $1962. If she gets two right she wins half that and if she gets one right, it's 1/3. She selected all three resolutions her husband selected, winning her $1962 in cash.

Final item: An ice cream truck. The Jolly Roger truck comes with an amplified music box and is capable of serving banana splits and shakes at a moment's notice.
