in regards to the numbers being somewhat visible on pathfinder, it isnt the first time something like that has been visible. some time ago i cant remember if i saw it with my own eyes (probably not judging by the age of my tv) or whether it was brought up here but the numbers in the price of the car on pocket change could be seen during a playing.

I remember seeing the silhouettes of some of the numbers in Pocket Change from time to time. My TV was bought when Debt was in first run or thereabouts, however.

Flip Flop: Seemed relatively easy.

Most Expensive: Who thought it was a bright idea to tell Gwendolyn to recite the price BEFORE revealing it? And when was the last time we had a sub-$1000 prize in this game?

Pathfinder: I woulda blew my second chance on the microwave. But glad Katrina won it without having to use up all three second chances.

Range Game: Is it me, or was that the ssssssssssllllllllllllllllllllooooooooo ooowwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssss sssssstttttttttttttttt climb up the scale the range went?

Pass the Buck: I didn't get to see this segment as I had stepped out of the room, but from what I was able to hear... it didn't end well.

Switch?: Didn't get to see this segment either. But it sounded like it was rushed? Or maybe it was just me.

If it doesn't affect the goings of Studio 33 and only those particularly looking to spoil themselves can spot it, then there's no reason to continue modernizing the games.
I mean sometimes people don't go looking to spoil themselves. I think in the case of Pathfinder, it can be pretty glaring. However, I don't hear of this problem in 3 Strikes. If 3 Strikes has some different kind of display, perhaps they can change them to that.

If not, maybe it is all in the camera angle. Change that first and see what happens.

If the home audience is spoiled, then something needs to be done!

I said only those knowing exactly where to look, and basically ignoring the main focus of the shot (the contestant, Drew, and the next set of choices). That's a very small minority.

I don't buy that argument at all. You can see the answer! I don't care if you have to look away from Drew and the contestant, you can still see it!

I said only those knowing exactly where to look, and basically ignoring the main focus of the shot (the contestant, Drew, and the next set of choices). That's a very small minority.

1) This is in direct contradiction to the complaint that I hear all of the time from numerous people around here (and maybe even yourself) that the home audience is the most important. So, which is it - does Drew have to entertain the studio or the home audience, or is it whatever is just convenient for the circumstances?

2) My wife, who hates the show and dreads watching it everyday (nothing to do with Drew or the quality of the show -- she's just sick and tired of watching TPiR and other game shows) can see the outline of the price every time in Pathfinder & Range Game, and I can sure as hell guarantee you she's not actively looking for it.

It's pretty damn glaring in Pathfinder.

I didn't notice it until the show went into high definition and started using the jib camera on Pathfinder. I've noticed the outline is a lot more glaring when they're using the jib in that game than anything else.

Range Game, on the other hand, doesn't use the jib and I can still usually figure out when to stop it because I can see the outline. Again, this wasn't the case before the show went high def.

Like others, I've noticed it on Pocket Change too.

There's probably a real simple fix on Range Game & Pathfinder - maybe use a darker shade of green?

Just a thought.

While we're looking at this from the viewpoint of the viewer, doesn't the studio have HD monitors for everyone to view. While it is quite a stretch to say that the contestant and audience can see the number on the monitors (since they are far away), it could be concern for the show.

Just a thought.

I think you happen to be in an anecdotal situation (she may not be actively looking for it, but if she's sick of watching, her attention will wander to what should be little things) and are biased, honestly. Again, this really is not an issue... and the plasmas in Studio 33 are high enough & relatively small enough that there's no way anyone could see it even if they somehow knew to try.

I am really shocked I am being met with so much opposition on this issue.

Pathfinder was awesome!  That was the most TPIR-ish segment we've had on the show in a while.

I wonder why the rangefinder was moving so slowly today.

Drew hosted Pass the Buck and Switch? amazingly competently.

I'd like to not have some of whatever Melba was smoking.

Most Expen$ive and Switch? were probably supposed to be won.  There was a lot of potential winning on this episode that just didn't happen.

Two-prize showcases are happening way too often this season.  There is no good explanation for this whatsoever; it looks lazy, and it looks cheap.

If it doesn't affect the goings of Studio 33 and only those particularly looking to spoil themselves can spot it, then there's no reason to continue modernizing the games.

If games are getting spoiled simply by virtue of the show being broadcast the way it is intended to be broadcast, then yes, there's definitely a reason.  This doesn't mean they have to build a whole new Range Game board -- I'm sure that if they wanted to, they could install something that would look exactly like it does now, except that it works correctly.

I feel Range Game should've totally been won. Or at least not lost the way it was. Speaking of which, was it just me or did the rangefinder move ridiculously slow?

It was a pretty easy price that I had pegged at $4999 for each scooter...which of course was only off by a few dollars.

The thought crossed my mind that it is moving intentionally slow to "force" the contestant to press the button earlier.  As you know, most contestants don't have the patience or get pressured into stopping the game early.  This is also true in Freeze Frame.  By the scale moving slightly slower than normal, you increase the odds of a loss.  Not that I'm insinuating this is on purpose, but I'd bet money that if it was in the lower 3rd of the Range, it would be moving at normal speed.

Isn't it manually operated by a stagehand behind the prop? Maybe Dave was off that day and the person filling in didn't crank as fast as usual. Not everything has to be an attempt to psych the contestant into losing.

This is true, but it could also be a decided change in directing.

Balance Game is also moving much slower when the scales are tipping during the reveal.

We shall see if this was a one-time event or something that continues throughout the season.

Well, we already saw a later-taped Range Game on the season premiere.  How fast was it moving that day?
