I don't see why it would have.  It never has before.

Oh, okay. I don't think I've ever seen a contestant reach below the top of the grid. "Disqualified" wasn't the word I should have used - I was thinking of "this one doesn't count," which is what I thought I remembered happening when a chip got stuck and Bob used the stick to free it. I wasn't thinking that she'd lose a turn because of it.

If I remember correctly, if the contestant were able to reach the chip, Bob would have them un-wedge it.

Eat some jellybeans. That'll take away the bad taste.

Ha!  I think I've had quite enough jellybeans for a while, thanks to that showcase.  :P

Yes indeed. He'd often tell them to "knock it off there" (knock the chip off the peg on which it was stuck) if the contestant was able to reach it.

Can anybody point me to a playing where this happened?

Drew may have just discovered his new ritual:  Waving the Plinko stick like a magic wand.  Certainly worked in a big way today.

My showcase bids:
smart--$22,107
Australia--$26,107
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Pretty good episode with a great run on Plinko. However, I must say this is one time I was almost glad the Showcase with the car was not won. Who exactly thought contestants would want a car with that kind of a wrap on it, anyways? (You can even tell the contestants themselves weren't as excited about it as one would normally be about a car...) At least it's removable, but then why put it there in the first place?

Some stats on the games that appeared today:
1 Right Price (Loss): 3 playings, 1 win, average paid per game: $4572.33
Any Number (Win):  4 playings, 2 wins, avg.: $10,154.53
Plinko (2 center hits): 5 playings, 3 "wins" (>$10,000), avg.: $9512.20
Race Game (2/4 prizes): 2 playings, 1 win, avg.: $42,358.50
That's Too Much! (L): 3 playings, no wins, avg.: $0
Now... or Then (W): 2 playings, 1 win, avg.: $2988

Any Number is turning out to be a relatively expensive game, while Plinko got a boost to its expected payouts today with that $20,000+ win. Race Game's average payouts are, of course, extremely skewed thanks to the season premiere's four-car win...

If you do want to do a statistical analysis seriously, I would suggest taking out that car playing, or separating the non-car games in playings for cars. That is certainly the definition of an outlier.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

I'll probably go ahead and do that in the future, as well as with any other time a game's prizes are significantly grander than usual (though the occasional non-car game played for one car happens often enough that I'll still count those normally). For now, the "adjusted" expected payout of Race Game is... well, what was won on Friday.

These "expected payout" stats aren't going to be too interesting right now while there aren't a lot of playings for the games... they'll be more interesting at the end of the season, though.

Any Number:  Exciting win! :-)
Plinko:  Wow, $21,000 - great!  I loved what Drew did with the Plinko Stick.
Race Game:  Not very well played.
Now Or Then:  Nice win! :-)

Good show overall, IMHO.
